Whimsy Stamps New Release Snowman Couple

Hello friends!  I’m thinking after the several inches of snow we recieved last week, this is a really “time appropriate” creation to share with you!! LOL!  The first of the month is always a brand new release for Whimsy Stamps, so check out all of the digital release HERE!

Vicki-WS-SnowmanCouple-Dec3

For my card today, I’m using this darling new image called Snow Couple for my design!  Super quick and easy image to color up, so adding more details to it is always something fun!  🙂  I’ve taken the Whimsy Stamps Notched Rectangle dies to cut it out with.  I’ve also cut out a separate navy cardstock layer to mount behind it.

For my card front base, I’ve used the Whimsy Stamps Christmas Azure digital papers and cut it out with the Whimsy Stamps Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles die for the background and then mounted this over a navy A2 sized top folding card base.  Then I’ve also cut a strip of the muscial papers from the Whimsy Stamps Christmas Traditions digital paper collection and then ripped each side of it.  I took some distress ink and sponged around the edges of it and mounted it over the card front base along with some white ribbon.

I took the image panel and navy layer and added some craft foam to the back of it and attached it to the front of my card base layer.  I took some more of the white ribbon and made a bow to attach to the side of the image panel.  I’ve also taken a sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Penguin Christmas Sentiments 1 digital set and cut it out with a banner die that I then placed over the Hand Stitched Nested Rectangle die to make the stitch lines in it.  I then took some foam tape and attached it on the bottom corner.  For the sentiment, I’ve taken a Copic marker to go around the “cold” word and added some glitter for the snow details on it.

Lastly, I’ve taken an old Whimsy Stamps Snowflake die and cut out a piece from white card stock to attach at the top as an accent.  I put a rhinestone in the center of it.

For coloring up this image, I’ve used the following Copic markers:  *(Just click on the underlined numbers below to purchase from Whimsy Stamps.)

  1.  Snowman top hat/coal buttons:  C8, C5, C3
  2. Snowmen bodies/arms:  BG000R00 (cheeks), E33, E31 (arms), YR24, YR15 (noses)
  3. Snowman tophat trim/scarf:  B39, B37, B34
  4. Snowwoman hat/scarf:  V17, V15, V12, C1, C0
  5. Background Sky/Ground:  B01, B00, B000

After coloring this image, I’ve taken a snowflake stencil and then added some Nuvo Glimmer Paste Moonstone [953N] over top of it with a palette knife which created these cool glittery snowflakes over top of the image.  You can still see through to the image which is exactly what I was looking for.

I then took some Sparkle N Sprinkle Waterscape Glitter [G1108] and added it to the ground, the snow around the snow couple as well as the letters on the word “cold” within the sentiment with both a Nuvo Medium Tip Glue Pen [203N] (for the ground), as well as a Nuvo Presicion Glue Pen [206N] for the snow on the lettering.

Hope you’ve got inspired with my creation wih the new Whimsy Stamps digital release this month!  Be sure to come back for more inspiration later on in the week!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Blue is my favorite color so yes, I love everything about this card. I’d love it no matter what color it was though since it’s so pretty. Loving that big snowflake!
    Lynn

  2. Now that’s a cute pair of snowmen, and I LOVE the sentiment with the snow piled on top of the letters! Wonderful sparkle too. I had to grin – I just read this morning that a radio station in OH banned that song “Baby it’s Cold Outside” from being played on their station because of the #metoo movement and how suggestive that song is?! Unreal!

    1. LOL! Yes! I saw the same thing Carol! I actually had this card made before that news came out, but still it wouldn’t have mattered to me on posting it! 🙂 I shake my head quite often at the news anymore! Thank you for the kind comment my friend! HUGS

  3. woohoo! Loving this darling snow couple and your beautiful layers, Miss Vicki! Such a fantastic tip to put the stencil atop your colored creation to make fun, glistening falling snow! Your background paper is lovely! Wonderful card, and so creative! hugs, de

  4. Super cute card Vicki, I love that sweet snowman image and love all the embellishments you added. I especially like how you created the snow effect over the image with the stencil, great idea! hugs Debxx

  5. Oh WOW! I love how you created the snow effect over your image. I need to try something like that but I haven´t got that glimmer past you used. Wondering if it would work with something else? Have to go through my boxes and see what I can find.
This is a super cute card!
Thank you for sharing your talent with us at CRAFTY CATZ. Best of luck! Nick

  6. The snow couple are adorable. Your card is so pretty, love the bling and that you can still see the image below the flakes. The die cut snowflake is fabulous too x I love the sentiment x

  7. Oh, Vicki, I love the awesome snowmen and your coloring of them. The added snow over the image is striking! The frame cuts and the card design are outstanding, as usual, my friend! LOVE the card! And, most importantly, I LOVE the sentiment!!! LOL. I think a large group of crafters should get together and create a card with the same sentiment and post it all over social media (e.g., FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)!

    1. Awe! Thank you so much always for your sweet and kind thoughts about my creations dear friend! 🙂 LOL on the sentiment and yes I agree! I’ve always loved that sentiment and song every Christmas! Sending HUGS

  8. Vicki, I just commented on this one over on the Whimsy FB site. Now that I have a closer look, I have to say I adore how you did the sparkly falling snowflakes! Fab coloring and those snowmen are just too adorable. 😀

  9. Oh what a darling snow people couple and love the big snowflake. I have a digis but just seldom use
    them anymore. Great job.

  10. Your cards are always so wonderful- down to the last detail! I love the coloring- the blues over the center, the shimmer for falling snow and the sparkle on the ground as snow. Pretty dies and love the big snowflake and the swirly BG paper. Perfection my dear!

  11. Your snow couple is adorable! And I love the snowflakes that cover the whole scene but don’t interfere with seeing them. Once again, my crafty wish list grows… 😛 Thanks for joining the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

  12. Thanks for joining the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers, yopur card is simply stunning! Love all the detail and your fabulous colouring, Jo x
