Cute Card Thursday is Sentimental

Hello friends!  Hope you’re having a great week so far!

Today starts a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and the theme for this week is “Sentimental“.  We look forward to seeing your interpretation with your creations for this challenge!  Our sponsor is Crafty Doodle Chick, so be sure to play along for your chance to win!

Here’s how I’ve interpretated the challenge this week:

Vicki-CCT601-Sentimental

I really love sentiment stamps and sometimes they just seem to get used when you need to add a sentiment with your design.  I actually like to use them as not only the focal point of a design, but I like to also use them for backgrounds!

For my card today, I have used an older Simon Says Stamp card kit. (Nov 2016)  I really loved the font and the wording in this set and the different sizes that you can mix together.  The images are from the SSS Thankful Heart stamp set.

I started by stamping two of the images from the set with white ink over the A2 sized top folding card base and then added some papers from the card kit on the bottom portion.  I took a piece of white twine around the center of the card and added a button and bow.

The heart was die cut from a piece of cardstock from the kit with a stitched heart die and then I white heat embossed the sentiment and added some craft foam behind it before attaching it to the card.  I’ve also added a couple of hearts that were cut from white cardstock.

Very simple card, but a good one to have on hand for someone!  I hope you’ve enjoyed it and please be sure to join along with us this week!

Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you soon!

Sending Snail Mail Hugs

Hello friends!  Yippee!  It’s finally “officially” Fall now! (According to the calendar anyway.) We are very slowly starting to get lower temps at least in the evening time anyway.  I’ve gotten out my Fall decorations and I’m ready!  How about you?

Today I have a very sweet image from Whimsy Stamps to share with you:

Vicki-WSLoveSlowMuch-Sept24

Awe!  I wouldn’t normally hug a snail, but I must say, this one is SUCH a cutie don’t you think?  This digital image is called “Love You Slow Much” from Whimsy Stamps-Sylvia Zet’s Wee Stamps Collection which was previously released as a rubber cling stamp.  So now you can have the option of choosing the digital or the rubber versions!

Of course with Fall having started, I was really inspired to create with this cutie in some orange, yellow and tan toned colors!  With the exception of that blue bow tie on the snail,  I’ve colored it differently as I think that makes him really stand out especially for dispensing hugs…or perhaps receiving them! 🙂

I’ve cut out the image with a stitched circle die and then die cut another larger circle in the orange color to mat behind that.  I’ve taken a piece of decorative paper from my stash with the wording and added some stitch marks along the edge of it with a black marker and then mounted it to a piece of white cardstock.  I wrapped some white organdy ribbon around these two pieces and mounted it onto an orange 5″ square top folding card base.

I took another piece of orange cardstock and die cut a tag out from an older Whimsy Stamps die that I have and then I stamped the “hugs” sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiments clear stamp set towards the bottom of the tag and added it to the bow on the ribbon.  Lastly, I took some flowers and attached them around the card design.

  • Snail Body:  W7, W5, W3, W1, R00
  • Snail Shell:  E35, E33, E31, E30
  • Snail Bow Tie:  B26, B24, B21
  • Fairy’s Dress, Hair Flowers, Shoes, Wings:  YR07, YR04, YR02, BG000, C7, C5, C3
  • Fairy’s Hair & Skin:  E47, E44, E42, E41, E21, E11, E02, E00, E000, R20
  • I used BG000 and E0000 for around image and shadows
  • I’ve also used a gold gel pen for the center of the flowers in her hair and over the tiny marks behind her wings.  I’ve used a white gel pen for hightlights in the Fairy’s cheeks as well as highlights on the snail’s shell.  I took a glue pen over her wings and added some clear glitter over them.
  • I’ve also used a Copic marker (unsure of color) to color a rhinestone for the center of the orange flowers.

Clear Foiling Techniques with Brutus Monroe

Hello friends!  I’m sharing another set of creations that I’ve made using the new Brutus Monroe Deco Foil products because I had so much “foiling fun” that I kept going with making more!  This time, I’m using those “clear sheets” from the Designer Toner Sheets:

For my Christmas card here, I’ve used my laminator to foil over the “clear sheet” from the Peppermint Twist Designer Toner Sheets with the new Red Static Foil Sheets.  This creates a “see-through” area for the shaker contents.

For the shaker part, I’ve taken one of the Brutus Monoe Self-Adhesive Shaker Pouches, attached it to a piece of Alabaster cardstock, very carefully trimmed off the edges, filled it with lots of sequins and confetti stars and then sealed it up to keep the contents inside moving freely.  I then placed the clear foiled piece over top of it by using some Stick-It sheets which helps to keep the adhesive from showing through.

I then took an A2 sized top folding Alabaster card base and used some score tape along the two edges and then rubbed some of the Gold Static Foil over it.  I then took the shaker panel and mounted it over top.

Vicki-FoiledShaker-Christmas-close

The greeting and the Santa hat were attached over top from the Yuletide Greetings stamp set that I’ve cut out using the Yuletide Greetings Cut File.  I’ve colored up the hat with Copic markers and then added some glitter over the fur trimming.  I’ve just used my Xyron machine to run adhesive on the back of these pieces to adhere them.

Vicki-FoiledShaker-Christmas-Flat

I’ve added a ribbon in the upper corner with a couple of gold bells tied to the center of the bow.

So I continued on with my “foiling fun” by also making Halloween too….

My second card uses one of the clear sheets as well from the Carved Designer Toner Sheets and I’ve used the Orange Sketch Foil sheet over that.  Since this is a clear sheet, I thought it would be fun to make the pumpkin faces stand out a little bit.  So I turned the sheet over and added some glitter behind each pumpkin face and let it dry.  (This might take some time to dry depending upon how thick you make it.)  Once dry, I took a Stick-It sheet again to attach it to a piece of Raven cardstock.

I mounted this over a piece of the Green Neon Cardstock that I’ve also used for my sentiment banner.  I then added these layers over an A2 sized top folding card base.

Vicki-FoiledPumpkins-close

Here you can see the glitter showing through pumpkin faces and how they appear to somewhat “glow” with the darker panel behind them.

For the sentiment banner, I took the sentiment from the Trick or Treat stamp set and heat embossed it with the Raven Sparkle EP and cut it into a banner.  I added a small wooden pumpkin for the accent that I painted with orange paint and clear glitter paint over that.

Thanks so much for stopping in today!  I hope that you’ve enjoyed my creations and were inspired in some way!

Wishing you all a wonderful rest of your weekend and I’ll be seeing you again soon! 🙂

Dies & Punches for Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  It’s time for a new Cute Card Thursday challenge!  This week we’d like to see those “Dies &/or Punches” on your creations this week!  These are some of my favorite tools to use in my craft room and we’re looking forward to seeing your take on this challenge!

Here’s what I’ve made for it:

Vicki-CCT600

Nothing says “Fall” to me like those ripe apples ready to be picked and especially to make a yummy carmel apple with as well!  I had so much fun pulling out several of my Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to make this interactive card design!  I haven’t played with my Lawn Fawn stuff for quite a while, so it was time! 🙂

For the interactive pull tab mechanism, I’ve used the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider dies along with the Caramel Apple , Thanks a Bushel and Jump for Joy stamp sets to put together this card.  I’ve also used the Jump for Joy and Thanks a Bushel dies to cut out some of the images on my card.  For the pull tab at the top, I took a sentiment from the Push Here stamp set to stamp the “pull here”.

For part of the layers in the card, I took an older Scallop rectangle die no longer available from Lawn Fawn for the white layer.  I’ve also used some Woodgrain cardstock that I’ve sponged with Vintage Photo Distress ink along the edges of it and the plaid paper which is no longer available from LF.  For the layer behind the apple panel and the base of the card I’ve used the LF Sunflower cardstock.

Vicki-CCT600-close

Here’s a closer look at the image that I’ve got colored up with Copic markers.  I just stamped them over some Copic blending card.  For the inside slider where the caramel apple is, I didn’t want to add any layers to it so that it would slide freely.

Vicki-CCT600-upright

Here’s what the card looks like with the slider hidden inside.  I just added some twine to the end of the pull tab at the top.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my interative card design today using lots of fun dies!  Be sure to stop by the Cute Card Thursday blog and check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team and play along with us this week!

Thanks so much for dropping in today and I’ll be seeing you soon!!

Brutus Monroe Decorative Details Inspiration Team Blog Hop

Hello friends!  It’s time for the Brutus Monroe Inspirational Team blog hop today and we’re focusing on the “Decorative Details” line of products to share on our creations.

I am a huge fan of putting “details” on my creations for sure!  There are so many to choose from and sometimes it’s hard to keep from getting them all!  LOL!

For my card today I’ve used a decorative detail (acrylic bubbles) that is one of my faves to use on pretty much ANY style of creation you’re making and here you can see why:

Vicki-BMbloghop-DD

Fall is certainly my most favorite time of the year and I really enjoy creating with all of the fun Autumn style products especially the ones that have just came out from Brutus Monroe.  The wreath and sentiment that I’ve used are from the new Fall Y’All stamp set and I’ve cut it out using the Fall Y’All Cut File that you can get for your cutting machine.  I have a Cricut so I’ve used that to cut it out with.  (Don’t forget that if you’re a subscriber to one of the monthly subscriptions, you can grab that cut file for free!)

Now that cut file does NOT cut out the center of the wreath, so I just poked my scissors in the center of it that made a large enough hole so that I could fussy cut around the inside of it.    The cut file will also cut around for your sentiment.

The base of the card is an A2 top folding Macchiato cardstock (a fave brown color of mine especially for the Autumn theme!)  I took a couple of the leaf images from the Autumn Essentials stamp set and heat embossed a couple of them on the card base with the Gilded EP.

I then glued on the cut out wreath image, popped up the sentiment in the center with foam tape and also added some gold thread behind it before attaching.  I took some alabaster ink and sponged around the edges of the card base and then finally attached the acrylic bubbles over the card.

Vicki-BMbloghop-DD-close

Here’s a closer look at the image and how I’ve got it colored in.  I’ve used Copic markers to color it along with the leaves on the sentiment.  I also took some distress ink and sponged around the edges of the cut images.

For the sentiment, I first stamped it with the raven detail ink and then cleaned off the stamp and then stamped it again with the embossing ink.  I sprinkled the Gilded EP over the sentiment and then brushed off the EP on the leaf areas as I didn’t want those embossed.  I heat set only the wording.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today and were inspired in some way!

Super Girl Starla Flying By!

Hello friends!  Happy Tuesday and I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!  I actually can’t believe that September is already flying through this quickly!

Speaking of “flying”, I have this really cute card to share with you using another Whimsy Stamps image:

Vicki-WSStarla-Sept17

This little digital cutie is called Starla from Whimsy Stamps.  She has her arms out and so I thought it would be cute to have her appear as if she’s smiling while flying up through the clouds at us!  I also thought this would be a really nice encouragment card for a child and I’ll be sending it out to hopefully share some smiles.

I stenciled some clouds in behind her, cut the image out with a stitched square die and layered a piece of purple cardstock behind her.  I ran a piece of green colored cardstock through a star embossing folder, wrapped a silver ribbon around it and then attached it to a purple 5″ square top folding card base.

I die cut some stitched cloud borders for the bottom of the card design, but sponged them with some Broken China Distress Ink before attaching them with foam tape.  I also die cut some stars to add for accents on the design with both silver glitter stock and a piece of purple to paper piece in the center of one of the silver outline stars.  I also added a rhinestone star to the center of the bow.

Vicki-WSStarla-Sept17-close

Here’s a closer look at Starla with the coloring I’ve done on her.  I’ve colored her up with Copic markers and added some details with gel pens.  I’ve also covered her headband with a glitter brush pen and also added some extra glitter over the stars at the top of her head band.  You can also see where I’ve added some “strokes” to show that she’s zooming through the clouds.  I also covered that area with a bit of shimmer with the glitter brush pen as well.    The “little girl” in me had to color some purple! 🙂

Vicki-WSStarla-Sept17-flat

The sentiment at the bottom was stamped with a sentiment from my stash with some black ink.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and it’s brought you a smile or inspired you in some way!  Thanks so much for stopping in!  See you soon!

It’s Time for Foiling Fun!

Hello friends!  Happy Saturday!!  I hope you have a fun weekend planned!  🙂

Have you checked out the brand new Decofoil products from Brutus Monroe that just came out?! Check them all out HERE!  They’re really incredible and the results are stunning for making simple projects!

I’d like to share with you a couple of creations that I’ve made with the new Decofoil products:

For this card, I used both the Red and Gold Static transfer sheets and foiled it with the  Ornamental Toner Sheet.  I first  foiled it in red (but that sheet wasn’t used for this.)  I took the negitive of that red piece and placed it over a full Deco Foil Toner Sheet and then the black areas where the ornaments are, I took the gold transfer sheet and foiled the ornaments in that.  So it’s sort of a double foiling!

I added this foiled panel over a piece of Alabaster cardstock that I wrapped some gold ribbon around and then I heat set the sentiment from the Yuletide Greetings stamp set with Gilded embossing powder.  The sentiment was stamped with Embossing Ink from a Yuletide Greetings Cut File.

I also had fun making a Halloween card too:

For this card, I pretty much did the same as the card above in where I took the “negitive” from the foiled Webbed Toner Sheet using the Gold Transfer Sheet which made the webbing black.  I left it like that for the background of my card.

For the “ground” I took a piece of Raven cardstock and ripped some strips for the “dirt” and sponged the edges of it with a gold ink.  I took the images from the Trick or Treat stamp set and colored them up, fussy cut the out and arranged a scene at the bottom.  I took a Copic liner to write in my own grave markers.  🙂

I took the silhouette bat from the stamp set and heat embossed it over the foiled background with Raven Sparkle embossing powder.  I also used this for the sentiment banner that I made from some Speckled Egg card stock.  I also took some of the same carstock and layered it behind the card front and then mounted this over an A2 sized top folding card base.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my cards that I had so much fun foiling!   Thanks for stopping in today and I’ll see you again soon!!
