Let’s Celebrate at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS!!!

*I wanted to take a moment to first wish all of my friends and blog readers here an extremely Happy New Year and best wishes for the most amazing 2020 you can have!  I have REALLY appreciated each and every one of you for your friendship, support and comments throughout this last year…it really means so much to me!  I hope to continue to inspire and spread smiles with you in the comng year as well!  HUGS*

Today is obviously the first which means it’s time to start a brand new challenge over at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!  So remember that you have the entire month to play along and It’s ALWAYS an “Anything Goes + a critter” on your crafty project!  Easy peasy!

Here’s the creation I made for this month:

Vicki-2CCC34-BugabooBday

He’s such a cutie and I think he would be a fun little guy to celebrate with especially since it looks like he’s handing out cupcakes! LOL!!

The sponsor for our challenge this month is Bugaboo Stamps and the team were given some images to play with, so I have used this adorable Birthday Hedgie 02 digital stamp on my card today!

After coloring him up with Copic markers, I used a stitched rectangle die to cut him out with and then layered him onto a blue layer of cardstock along with another yellow layer that was cut from a stitched scallop rectangle die.  I used some craft foam to pop him up over the card front design.

For the card base, I took a top folding A2 sized kraft card base and found some fun birthday papers in similar colors slightly cut down to go over top.  I also found a matching blue dotted strip of paper to place from top to bottom of the card base design.  the sentiment was stamped in black ink at the bottom of the image panel.  This is a new set I got from Simon Says Stamp called Tiny Words.

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on this cute little guy!  His “hair” actually got a bit more “fuzzy” than what I was going for, but I didn’t want to keep going over him or he might look like he partied a bit too much! LOL!

Of course it’s very hard to see unless you see it person, but I’ve added some shimmer with my glitter brush pen over the cupcakes and little hearts.  I also used some colored gel pens to go over some of the confetti pieces around him.  I also used a white gel pen for his cheeks and I thought he needed some eyeballs and I made those too!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today!

P.S.  Just for fun, please share with me if you have any crafty or non-crafty “New Year’s resolutions/goals” for this year!  My goal is to COMPLETELY finish each card I make this year with sentiment/decorated inside, with the envelope and signed on back!  I hope it holds up!  I started with this card!

Challenges:

  1.  Make My Monday – Female Birthday (Thought it could be used for anyone!)
  2. Simon Says Stamp Monday – “Party Time”
  3. Creative Knockouts – Celebrations
  4. QKR Stampede– #378 Anything goes

  4. Love your New Years resolution – and what a good one. I always makes ones that I know I probably won’t keep like losing weight etc. Who wouldn’t be happy with not one but two cupcakes, Darling image. So I’ve been thinking – I have a basket (not going to share how big) with “new” stamps dies etc. that I have bought but not yet used, by goal is to use at least 75% of what is in that basket. You notice I didn’t say 100%, and I’m really pushing it at 75% but going to try.

  5. What a darling birthday card this is! I love how you colored him and the background design is fabulous too with some great colors! I never stamp the inside of my cards until I’m ready to send them, because I like to mix things up with different sentiments for different folks. I would like to be able to clear out so much of the stash I’ve accumulated over the past decade but I keep hanging onto everything anyway thinking one day I might use that! Resolutions don’t always keep me on the right track for long! lol

  7. You always do the most glorious coloring, Vicki, and this one is no exception! I know he’s a hedgie but he looks more like a bear in this pose. Whichever he is, he looks completely delighted to have scored those two cupcakes. Love the detail touches you did on his eyes and cheeks. They bring him completely alive. My one resolution is one I made many years ago (like 30 years ago!) I swore I wasn’t going to make any more resolutions which wouldn’t be kept and that’s the only one I’ve kept. If one makes no resolutions, one has no feelings of guilt a week or two later when they get broken. lol

  8. Isn’t this adorable! I am still formulating my goals. I am not with it this year so far. The holidays were too busy for me to think much. Happy New Year!

  9. LOL great hair! He is adorable and love the highlights on his chocolate cupcake. I agree with your added white in his eyes too. Good luck with your crafty resolution. I hope to once again, make one cricut craft a month, but more importantly, to be more organized and timely. Wish me luck and happy new year !

  13. Love this bear with his/her hands full of cupcakes, my kind of bear for sure. Awesome coloring as well as great layout. I didn’t make any resolutions but going to set some goals. Organization seems to be on the top of my list, organization in my craft room.

  14. Fun and sweet card! Your coloring is beautiful! Love the pop of blue you added on your card- the add of the blue plus DP with blue is so pretty. I would love to know how many hours one of your cards takes on average- so much care and detail! Yummy cupcake this little hedgie got his hands on!

    1. LOL! Shelly, that is so sweet! I do like to put “detail” into my cards as you say especially ones that I’ve spent time coloring up…that is if I feel like it’s necessary, anyway. But I would guesstimate that I spend, on average, with a colored up image it’s around 1-2 hours with about 20-45 minutes on the coloring depending upon the image. I feel like I’m a very slow card maker though because of all of the decisions to make with it! LOL!! I appreciate your kind thoughts!! HUGS
