Eggs in One Basket

Hello friends!  Back today to share a fun Easter card with you!

Before I get to my card, I wanted to let everyone know that this will be my last post with Sparkle N Sprinkle as a design team member.  I have truly enjoyed my time creating with the products and I’m sure I’ll be pulling them out to play with on my blog from time to time!  Sometimes we just have to lighten up our “baskets” to make things a little easier to carry.

Vicki-SNSEasterChick

This little chick dressed in bunny ears just makes me giggle!!  I had so much fun with this cute March release stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Easter Parade by Jan Mahew.  The other chick has this fancy hat on and is adorable too! 🙂

To start out with, I thought it would be fun to take this basket weave embossing folder to create the background of the card (resembling a basket of course!) and I rounded the top corners of it along with taking some of the new colors of Super Thick embossing powders in the Spring Lilac and Pink Cheeks and sprinkling some over top of this background.  I heat embossed it from underneath so it wouldn’t fly all over.  (Remember that you don’t need anything to attach it with, just heat set it from underneath!)

I’ve also used these embossing powders to create the look over the eggs as well!  I stamped out the open image egg from the stamp set and then layered the Spring Lilac, Pink Cheeks and Neon Super Thick Embossing Powders in strips and very carefully heat set it from underneath.  (I did this BEFORE they were fussy cut out.)

I thought that my images needed grounding, so I took a grass border die and cut a strip to place at the bottom of the card front.  I wrapped some yellow ribbon around the basket background and also stamped out the CUTE sentiment from the stamp set and made a banner with it that I’ve also added a bow, button and twine in the center of.  I’ve attached all of this to an A2 sized top folding card base.  I flipped up the edges of the banner to give it a bit of dimension.

Vicki-SNSEasterChick1

Here I wanted to point out to you this adorable little chick!  If you look at his belly area, you will see that he looks quite fuzzy!  After I colored him in with my Copics and fussy cut him out with scissors, I took the Nuvo Medium Tip Glue Pen to go over his belly area with and then sprinkled over it with the Canary Flocking.  I always press it into the area for good adhesion and let it dry.  Now you have a fuzzy feeling peep!  I added him to the background and nestled him in the grass border.  I used the SNS Dimensional Glue to adhere the flat images down.

Vicki-SNSEasterChick2

For the eggs, as mentioned above, I melted the powders (carfully trying to keep it contained within the lined stamped egg image) and then fussy cut them out with scissors.  Then I took some foam tape and nestled them among the grass too.  As you can see, I have cracked eggs which accidentally happened when I pushed down on the eggs to stick them.  I actually thought it was sort of cute with the basket theme and funny chick dressed like a bunny, so I cracked them even more and kept it that way!  (It was hard to capture in the photo, but the eggs with the embossing have a pretty shinny sheen over them.  It was sure fun to play with those embossing powders!

Another Pot O’ Gold!

Hi there friends!  I guess I am really feeling the luck of the Irish this week!  I have another fun St. Patrick’s Day themed card to share today:

Vicki-SNSPotOGold

My card here may seem a bit simple, but it has a few really fun added extras to really make it shinny and glittery!  I have used one of the March releases from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Lil Leprechaun (Digital only stamp set).   I took the pre-colored versions of the set and arranged them in a blank Word.doc for how I wanted it to appear on my card front.  I used the clover images and resized them to fit around the bottom of the pot of gold area and then placed the sentiment where I wanted it off to the side.

I then printed it out and then cut it out with the Nuvo Basics Rectangle dies.

I used a couple of Copic green markers to make the “blades of grass” next to the pot of gold and clovers.  I also used some colored chalk to sponge in some colors for the rainbow behind the pot of gold.

Vicki-SNSPotOGold2

Here you can also see on the panel where I’ve taken some Super Thick Gold EP and sprinkled some in the corners of my image panel and then heat set it from underneath.

I also took a Nuvo Precision Glue Pen to add some “dots” in the center of the clovers and then of course used the SNS Shamrock Glitter to go over them!  I also covered the coins in the pot with the glue and sprinkled some Champagne Glitter over them for some sparkle!

Vicki-SNSPotOGold5

With the same SNS Champagne Glitter that I used on the coins in the pot, I also took some SNS Sticker Paper and covered an entire panel with it and burnished it in!  The shimmer and glitz on this is stunning in person and really sets off the card!  I’ve also used the Glitter Brush to take away the excess glitter particles and it’s a must have for clean up too!  (Instead of clinging to the brush, it repels it away!)  These sheets are somewhat thin, so I made sure that I’ve added some layers of cardstock in between this glitter panel for stability to the card.  (Keep this in mind if you are using the sticker paper for this idea.)

Vicki-SNSPotOGold-flat

I tried to capture some of the sparkle in the photo, but it really looks brilliant when you are holding it in person! 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I really appreciate you stopping in!!

Imagine…You’re Home!

Hello friends!  I have to say that I’m very happy that we’ve started the month of March and I really look forward to seeing the bit of green and growth soon to come!

Today, I have a card using one of the March New Release stamp sets from Sparkle N Sprinkle!  Have you seen all of the wonderful new products released for this month?  I look forward to sharing more of them with you later on!

Vicki-SNSCottage

Today, my card features this really fun Lil Garden Cottage rubber stamp set [00-943P5] from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  I have colored it up with my Copic markers and I’ve used the packaging from the stamp set to help with color suggestions.  (I really like that when stamp sets have a colored version on their product labels!)

Since last year I’ve been noticing lots of “fairy garden” projects and I am amazed at how many “tiny” items that are available to purchase so that you can create your own little garden!  This image sort of reminds me of that!  I think I like creating my own little “fairy garden” on paper! 🙂  Do any of you like to make Fairy Gardens?

Vicki-SNSCottage1

For the base of my card, I’ve used an A2 sized top folding kraft card base.  I took my VersaMark ink to stamp the tiny mushroom images from the set along the bottom edge of the base.  I also took another piece of kraft cardstock and heat embossed part of the sentiment with the SNS White EP and then cut it out from a circle die.  I set these pieces aside while working on the rest of my card.

Vicki-SNSCottage3

After coloring in the image, I also took the other portion of the sentiment “Imagine…” and stamped it next to the cottage image, but then heat set that one with the SNS Coffee EP.  I also took an additional piece of white cardstock to layer behind the image panel.  For that piece, I took my VersaMark ink pad and sponged along the edges of it and also heat set that with the same Coffee EP as well.  You can also see at the top of the image panel that I’ve lightly blended in some distress ink to soften up the white a bit.

For the sparkly twine at the top, I created it by taking the SNS 1/4″ Tear-ific Tape and twisting it on itself and then I ran it through some SNS Shamrock Glitter.  (If you’ve not seen this before, be sure to check out one of Demo Donna’s videos to see how she does it!)  I took a piece of it to make a bow and then glued it over my design.

I took some craft foam to pop up this image panel a bit before attaching it to the kraft card base.  I also took some more craft foam to pop up the side of the circle sentiment panel as well.

Vicki-SNSCottage2

To add a bit of detail to my image and make it my own, I stamped, colored and fussy cut out each of the mushrooms as well as the snail and then attached them where I wanted them to show up on my image panel.

I used the Nuvo Precision Glue Pen to “color in” the areas where I wanted it to be green and then sprinkled some of that SNS Shamrock Glitter over those areas.  I took the Nuvo White Crystal Drops to add a few “dots” over the red mushroom.  I then took the Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops (dries clear) and filled in the “window” on the cottage as well as the “snail shell” to add some shine to it.

Brightening A Rainy Day

Hello friends!  Are you longing for that rainy Springtime showers with lots of flowers because you’re tired of snow?  I know that I’ve been wanting Spring to get here very soon!  I thought I’d bring some of that feeling into my blog post this morning:

Vicki-SNSMayShowersBundle-Feb20-card3

It’s my turn to post on the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog today…so CLICK HERE to check it out if you want to see my post there or you can read details below too!

~affiliate product links used below~

I started out with my images from these gorgeous stamp sets that were released as a bundle set from Sparkle N Sprinkle this month called May Showers Spring Bundle.  (They are rubber stamp sets which contain both the Showers of Tulips rubber stamp set as well as the May Showers rubber stamp set.  You get a slight discount when you buy the bundle set of them.  There are also digital versions with the May Showers Bundle Digi Set as well as the individual Showers of Tulips digi and the May Showers digi.)

I wanted to incoporate both of these rubber stamp sets into my design, so I heat embossed the parasol image from the Showers of Tulips set and the bows from the May Showers set with SNS White EP over some Bristol Smooth Watercolor paper.  I colored them in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and fussy cut them out with my scissors and set them aside.

Vicki-SNSMayShowersBundle-Feb20-card3-close

For the background panel, I took another piece of watercolor paper and spritzed it with water to get it good and wet before sprinkling on some Nuvo Blue Blitz Shimmer Powder.  I spritzed it again to really get the water moving around and manipulted the panel so that I could get the water drips going down the panel.  Once this dried, I cut it out with the Tonic Basics Scalloped Square Dies.

Using my cut out parasol image for placement, I heat embossed the sentiment from the May Showers stamp set with the SNS Coffee EP where I wanted it over the watercolor panel.  I then took the raindrops image from the same stamp set and stamped it with VersaMark ink repeatedly over the background and heat embossed it with that SNS Magic Speckle EP.  (Remember this gorgeous pearly sheen it gave to my Winter Deer card from last week?  I told you that I would be bringing it back out for another project!  I am loving the look it gave the raindrops here.  Don’t forget that this powder is a tad bit thicker than normal embossing powder, so heat from underneath your project to help melt it so it doesn’t blow all over.)  I’ve also added some Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops to the center of each drop for more dimension and shine to get a nice wet water look to it!  This was set aside to dry for a bit.

I took another piece of cardstock (slightly larger than the watercolor panel) and rubbed my VersaMark Ink pad along the edges to heat emboss it with the SNS Coffee EP.  I attached these layers together and then glued some craft foam behind it for dimension.

Vicki-SNSMayShowersBundle-Feb20-card3-flat

I’ve used a blue 5″ square top folding card base for my design and took a piece of white doily I had from my stash and glued it on with some SNS Dimensional Glue.  I then added a strip of white cardstock covered with a piece of 1/2″ Tear-iffic Tape going diagnolly across the card base and burnished some Sunny Daze glitter over it.

Finally I added the watercolor and embossed layers over top of the card base and then took my fussy cut images and added them to the design with some foam dots.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Spring Showers card today and it’s inspired you in some way!  I thank you SO MUCH for dropping in!  I appreciate all of the kind comments and a big welcome to my new followers…love meeting fellow crafty friends!!

Find Peace with a Winter Deer for Sparkle N Sprinkle

Hello friends!  As I had mentioned in yesterday’s post, we are currently being hit with snow AND ice over my way…so I might as well embrace it, right?!   Although I’ve been trying to sneak in some Spring creations, I also enjoy creating Christmas/Winter cards throughout the year so that I can take my time and not be hurried during the rush of the Season at the end of the year which makes it more enjoyable…and peaceful! 🙂

*affiliate links used in this post*

Sparkle N Sprinkle has released this gorgeous new stamp set this month called Winter Deer [00-935P5] which I’ve used on my card for today:

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb

You can also get a Digital Version [DIGI935J] -(includes more sentiments/pre-colored) of this stamp set if you prefer that to rubber, but I have used the rubber stamp set for my card here.  I started out with a piece of watercolor paper and used the Blue Blitz [1208N] and Atlantis Burst [1213N] Nuvo Shimmer Powders to create the background by spritzing it with water until I achieved the look I wanted and set aside to dry.

(You can also see my photo tutorial on the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blog if you like.)

I cut this panel out with an oval die and using my cut out deer for reference to see where I wanted to position the sentiment,  I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with White EP [EP166]  .  I used some Magic Speckle EP [EP175] for a really cool background effect over the watercolor panel! (You can see it better in the photos below.)  I’ve used both SNS Dimensional Glue [539] as well as foam dots to attach the deer image and oval layers together.  I’ve used both white cardstock as well as some gold mirror cardstock for the layered panels.

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb-Close

Here’s a closer look at the Copic coloring I’ve done on the deer as well as the Magic Speckle EP effect on the background!  Since it’s a thicker type of powder, I didn’t attach it with anything.  I just added “piles” of it where I wanted and melted it from underneath so it didn’t blow all over.  Loving how it has that “icy look” to it!  I’m using this same EP again soon!  So stay tuned!

For the deer, I’ve used my Tim Holtz 5″ Mini Scissors [816E] to VERY carefully cut this image out and then used a black marker to go along the edges to hide my imperfections. For the snow over the branches, I’ve used a Nuvo Precision Glue Pen [206N] to go over it and then sprinkle some Sparkling Snow Glitter [G1003] over it.  I also took the Nuvo Red Berry Crystal Drops [667N] and covered the “berries” with it.  I set this aside until dry to work on the rest of my card.

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb-Flat

So for the glittery background panel behind the oval layers, I took a piece of white cardstock and attached it with a piece of the SNS Super Adhesive Sheets [SAS02] and die cut it out with a scallop rectangle die.  I removed the release paper from it and burnished some of the same Sparkling Snow Glitter [G1003] into this panel.  I attached it over another piece of gold mirror cardstock and then wrapped some organdy ribbon around it and attached a bow along the side.

In the center of the bow, I added a snowflake sequins and then put a dot of the SNS Dimensional Glue [539] in the center of it and then added some more of the Sparkling Snow Glitter [G1003].

These layers were attached to an A2 sized top folding white card base and then the oval layers were attached over the glitter panel next to the bow.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and got inspired to keep ahead of making your Christmas cards this year!  Thank you so much for dropping in!  I really appreciate your kindness and support so much!!  (Reading your comments always brightens my day more than you know! HUGS)

May Day Floral Wreath With Sparkle N Sprinkle’s February New Release!

**Please see my TURNER SYNDROME AWARENESS BLOG HOP post for details on how to enter for prizes and learn what it’s all about!** – ends Feb 7th!

Hello friends!  With the cold weather and ice around my area, I thought it would be nice to turn my attention towards the month of May with my creation today:

Vicki-SNSFloralNosegayWreath-Feb

I have used this gorgeous new February digital stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle called May Day Floral Nosegay.  I have printed out the pre-colored floral images and fussy cut them out for this card.  The sentiment in the center of the wreath is also from this same set which I’ve printed out as well and then cut it out with the Tonic Scalloped Squares Basic die set and sponged around the edges with some blue ink.

For the wreath, I’ve used the Tonic Rococo Fern Garland die and cut it out once in green cardstock and another in white cardstock.  For the white one I cut the ribbon area only and covered this piece with VersaMark ink which was heat embossed with some Sweetheart EP.  (This is such a pretty EP with lots of sparkle!  See below!)

Vicki-SNSFloralNosegayWreath-Feb-close

I also heat embossed this same Sweetheart EP along the edges of a white cardstock that I cut out to layer behind the wreath panel.  The heat embossed bow was glued over the green wreath and then the entire wreath was centered over the sentiment panel.  I also then layered these panels onto a piece of black cardstock.  I also put some craft foam behind this panel for some dimension on my card.

Vicki-SNSFloralNosegayWreath-Feb-closer

For the tiny flowers behind a couple of the white flowers, I took my Clear Mark Embossing Pen and heat embossed the very tips with the same EP as above.  All of these cut flowers were attached with the SnS Dimensional Glue onto the wreath with a couple popped up for dimension.  I also took some Nuvo Honey Gold Glitter Drops for the centers of the flowers as you can see in the photo above.

Vicki-SNSFloralNosegayWreath-Feb-flat

Lastly, for the base of my card, I cut a piece of A2 sized top folding card base with a light blue cardstock.  I also used this same cardstock color to cut out a couple of pieces using the Tonic Elegant Columns die set…so pretty!  I sponged some white ink around the edges of them and attached them to the card base.  I cut off the edges that were sticking out with my scissors.  (You can see the die I’ve used in the photo above.)

If you get a chance, hop on over to the Sparkle N Sprinkle website to check out the entire new Release for February! – CLICK HERE!  (It’s the first 8 sets shown.) Also don’t forget if you go shopping, you can get 10% off your entire order by using my special code below:

“It’s a Girl Thing” TSA Inaugural Blog Hop + GIVE AWAY!

Hello friends!  So happy you are here!
Welcome to the “It’s A Girl Thing” Turner Syndrome Awareness Inaugural Blog Hop!   Before I share my project with you, here is some important information regarding what this special blog hop is all about:
Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born with only one X chromosome, instead of two, leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities. This condition occurs one in 2,500 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term. That is why Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES!

I have to say that until I met my blog friend Lori, I was totally unaware of this condition and have learned so much through her because of her sharing about her daughter.  I’m so thrilled to be apart of this to help bring awareness and support!

Nineteen caring Sponsors have partnered with us to bring Turner Syndrome Awareness to the Public. For details on how you might win any of these fabulous prizes, please see Lori’s TS home page. Thanks for learning About Turner Syndrome.

Above are eleven caring & creative DT members who are all donating from their own personal websites/blogs to bring awareness to the public as well about Turner Syndrome!  (My blog is one you can enter below!)

**Although you don’t have to visit every single place to be eligible for a prize; however, the more places you visit and leave comments, the more of a chance you have to win a prize!  (Please see details below on how to enter the prize on my blog here!)  And be sure to visit the “It’s A Girl Thing” Turner Syndrome Awareness Inaugural Blog Hop page for information on how to become eligible for prizes.**

The card I’ve made for this blog hop uses a few colors from the TS official color board below:

Turner Syndrome and the Butterfly

The butterfly has become the symbol for “Turner Girls”. Just like a butterfly, they are considered fragile and beautiful miracles. Turner Syndrome may also cause a myriad of health complications, such as heart defects, learning disabilities and infertility, according to the Mayo Clinic. Sept 14, 2013.

Because it represents femininity, strength, and uniqueness, the butterfly was designated by TSSUS to become the Turner Syndrome symbol. “Butterflies fly on their own which is our hope for our girls.”

Vicki-TSAbloghop-ribbonsoflove

I have used this gorgeous new digital stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle (Sponsoring this blog hop!) called “Ribbons of Love” [DIGI933DE] which was created by my caring blog friend Donna Ellis.  I think it’s awesome that you can choose to use the pre-colored versions from the set which I have for my card here.  It’s a perfect set to have on hand in multiple colored ribbons that can be used for any cause you like to support!  It also has some fantastic sentiments to go with it too!  The butterfly was perfect to use for this particular cause!

vicki-tsabloghop-ribbonsoflove-close

I have used some pretty papers from my stash for the background and the colors all chosen from the TS color palette!  I printed out the image and sentiment together and die cut it with a stitched circle die.  For the circle glitter layer behind it, I cut out another cardstock circle layer with some Super Adhesive Sheets [SAS02] over it, peeled off the backing and sprinkled some Gecko MF glitter [GM2045] and burnished it in.  Added some blue ribbon with a bow over the papers, attached the circle layers, flowers and pearls.  I then took a clear glitter pen and went over the butterfly with it for more shimmer.  This was all mounted over a SU! Pacific Point 5×5″ top folding card base.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card and it has inspired you in some way!  Thanks so much for dropping by and taking part in this blog hop with us!

I am happy to be donating this card along with a few others to Lori so that she can use them to help raise funds for this cause as well.
