August GDT for Inky Stamper!

Hello friends!  Wanted to thank you for your kind comments!  Like I previously mentioned in my last post, I’ve still been crafting and following on FB by joining some classes, challenges, etc.  So although I haven’t been active on my blog, I’ve been crafting and sharing over there once in a while.  Just having some fun while using more of my crafty stash is all!  However, while playing around on FB, this happened:

blog-buttonbigger_1560266510__19297.original

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to join as a guest designer for Inky Stamper this month! Yay!  If you haven’t heard of this company, check out the stamps…they’re too cute and the owner, Chelsea, is so fun too!  She has such an infectious excitement about her that you can see if you happen to catch her on one of her weekly FB lives every Tuesday at 7:30 pm CST. (On the Company FB Page)  Hop on over there and say hello! 😉

So I will be sharing my creations using Inky Stamper products every Wednesday this month and I hope that I will be able to INKspire you with something fun!  I’m starting this Wednesday with some products that just recently released:

The first thing that Summer reminds me of is flip flops!  There is a cute little image of flip flops in this Splash stamp set which inspired me to create this shaped card and birthday tag!  That’s also where that cute little mouse you see is from as well!  But the sun and chair come from the Chaise Lounge stamp set, which I’ve combined both sets to use on my creations here.  I think these two sets go hand in hand with each other and it’s probably best to just get them both!  If you choose to get the dies with these sets, it cuts out the mouse and frog separately from the floaties they’re already on so you can pop them up!  So they work on the floaties as well as the chairs..so cute!

For my flip flop card, I’ve taken a very old template that I had found in my stash while cleaning up my craft room and thought this would be perfect to make a shaped card with!  I started by tracing the pattern for the base of my card and cutting two shapes so that I can make a card that opens from the side as you see in the photo.  The card measures approx. 7″ x 3.5″.  It’s a bit taller than a mini slimline card, but I can easily make my own custom envelopes with my envelope punch board.  This is another fabulous way to use up those hoarded papers too!

I took the smaller template and used the fun Doodlebug Floral & Graph paper pad (Available in the Inky Stamper store too!) to cut the inner flip flop pattern with. (I had to angle the template to make it fit onto the 6×6 sized paper.)  I added a couple of flowers from my stash along with the matching ribbon for the flip flop straps before attaching to the card base.  Colored the images, cut them out and added the sentiment strip at the bottom and cut it to measure with the inner flip flop edge.  I added some texture by sanding the edges of the paper too.

  • Here’s a little tip if you’re cutting out the stamped mouse image from the floatie:  When you use the die to cut it out, the edges around it will have some stamped lines on it where the white border is.  All I did was take a white gel pen to cover up those lines to that it looks like a perfect white line around the image!  P.S.  This is also a great way to cover any coloring mistakes made! 😉  This also works for fussy cutting an image as well!

I popped up “Rosie” (the mouse), as she is called, with foam tape over the chair.  I’ve also added some Doodlebug gems to the center of the flower on Rosie and for the flower at the top of the flip flop card.

I thought this would be a nice Summer birthday card so I wanted to make a matching tag to go with it.  I’ve pulled out the Inky Stamper Mini Envie Die and used it for this tag design.  Again, I pulled out the Doodlebug Floral & Graph paper pad and used this die to cut my tag with making sure that the center of the envelope die would be cut out.  This is what I’ve used for the base of my tag.  I like using these papers because they’re double sided. That way the back still has a nice color/pattern to it too.

  • I used this particular die for my tag because of the size.  Putting another strip of paper on the back side of this tag will create a pocket for you to tuck a gift card inside if you want to use it for that!  See below:

Vicki-InkyStamperGDT-flipflop-tagbackpocket

Since there are score marks to make the envelope, I ignored those lines and used my paper trimmer to cut out the center which is where the orange base of my tag came from.  I cut off the top two corners diagonally and punched a hole at the top which created my tag. I also die cut the envelope tag again with the Doodlebug Swiss Dot Paper Pad this time being sure that I had a good portion of the scallop edging cut from it.  I used that piece for a design element on the tag.

I stamped the sentiment and flip flops from the Splash stamp set as well as the sun from the Chaise Lounge stamp set, colored them, fussy cut/die cut them out to add to the tag.  I used a black pen for stitch lines along the edges.  I added my own hole reinforcer circle punched out and then added some Doodlebug Bumblebee Twine to the top. Finished it off with a couple of clear sequins from the Fishy Wishes sequins mix and filled the centers with Nuvo Glitter drops.  I also covered the sun with a Sparkle Glitter Pen.

I hope that I’ve INKspired you today with my Summer flip flop theme!  Thanks so much for dropping in here.  If you’d like to see more from this company, be sure to join the Inkystamper Inkspiration FB group!  Hope to see you there!  Have a great day!

Spooky Undertaker Tag for {Cupcake INspirations} Color Challenge

Hello there friends!  I’ve been a bit MIA lately but that’s because I’ve actually been having fun attending a virtual stamp event which I will be sharing some things I’ve done with you later and I’ll be doing it all over again this weekend as well!🥳  Although it doesn’t replace an in-person live event, it was lots of fun!  I’ve also been enjoying time visiting with my son who stopped by for the weekend!

CIC504

Today I’m stopping in to share my creation with you for the brand new challenge over at {Cupcake Inspirations} using this unique color combo:  OLIVE, RED and LAVENDER  The first thing I had thought of was the inspirational photo to go along with it and it reminded me of this cool Tim Holtz stamps/stencil set I bought a few years ago:

I thought it would be fun to play around a bit with my Distress Spray Stains over one of those Distress Tags.  So I sprayed a few of the colors over it and then also sprayed water over it as well to get the colors moving and blending together.  I think it turned out pretty cool.  I used the Distress Sprays I used were Crushed Olive, Fired Brick and Seedless Preserves.

I then took the stencil from the Tim Holt “Halloween 2 Stamps/Stencil” set and used some Black Soot distress ink to sponge the bats in the center of the tag.  I then used the coordinating distress ink colors and used the other portion of the stencil to sponge the colors with.  I took a thin strip of black cardstock to attach above and below the stenciled bat areas.

I took the skull image from the Tim Holtz “Halloween 2” stamp set and stamped it with black pigment ink over a piece of vanilla style cardstock and heat set it with clear embossing powder.  I fussy cut him out and added a piece of purple metallic ribbon around his hat and then glued on a purple flower along the side before popping him with foam tape in the center of the oval die cut piece from silver foil cardstock.

I stamped the “undertaker” sentiment from the stamp set with black permanent ink along with some scripty words in random places over the tag.  I also had some Tim Holtz Halloween rub-ons that I used for the spider and the “31” numbers.  I finished the tag with some more of that purple metallic ribbon and the key charm at the top.

Here’s a closer view of the skull with the embossed details along with the shine from the foil cardstock and ribbons.

Really had fun putting this tag together and I think it will make a fun spooky treat to share with someone I love because I have several family members that are really into the spooky Halloween theme besides myself! Yay!

Hope you’ve enjoyed my SPOOKY “undertaker” tag today and that you will stop in over at the {Cupcake Inspirations} challenge to check out the rest of the inspiration using the color combo and join the challenge with us too!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your kind support! It’s very much appreciated and I’ll be seeing you again soon my friends!!

Believe Tag

Hello friends!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and maybe even took advantage of some great Black Friday deals today?!  I was happy about shopping a little bit this morning and almost forgot to post about my tag here! LOL!

Vicki-NNTag-Day3

The scene on this tag was always a fun vision in my head from a child!  I would imagine Santa in his sleigh flying over the moon under a snowy night sky.  I love the peace and magic of it all with even little critters stopping to watch and listen to the magical sleigh bells ringing in the night.

I constructed my own tag the size I wanted and snipped off the top edges to make it look like a tag.  It was made with Navy cardsock.  I punched a hole at the top and made a reinforcer with white Glitterstock.  I then took some white watered down paint and splattered it over the background for a snow fall effect.

I bought this set a few years back from Newton’s Nook called Whispering Pines and I’ve used the coordinating dies to create the scene at the bottom.  I took some white Glitterstock for the snow the critters are sitting on.

For the “moon” I punched out a circle from vanilla cardstock and sponged around the edges of it.  I took a glitter brush pen to go over it.  The Santa’s sleigh was given to me from a fellow blog friend that I’ve attached over the tag.  I die cut the sentment from red cardstock.

Lastly, I’ve added some red striped ribbon from my stash and tied on a couple of silver bells with white twine around it.  Those bells make a fun jingle sound like I imagine from my scene! 🙂

Vicki-NNTag-Day3-closer

Here’s a tad bit closer view of the tag.  Here you can some what see the shimmer on the moon and the sparkle on the snow ground where the critters are.

Have a great evening my friends!  I’ll see you soon!

Bookmark for the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies September Challenge

Hello friends!  Welcome to September!  Can you believe that it is here already?!  I’m looking forward to all things Fall and seeing all the wonderful crafty inspiration from everywhere for sure!

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a post for the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge, but I’m so happy to be back with my design team friends for this month’s challenge!  The theme each month is always “Anything Goes + a critter“.  So if you make something with a critter on it, we want to see it!  We look forward to seeing your crafty critter creations this month!

Our sponsor for this month’s challenge is QKR Stampede and they’ve provided some fun images for the team to use in their creations.  Here’s my project:

Vicki-2CCCSept-QKR

September is the time we know that the kids are back at school.  I remember telling my boys that it was time for them to start “hittin’ the books!”  They never seemed to care for that too much though!  LOL!  Thinking back at those old school days, I thought it would be nice to create a school themed bookmark with this adorable image from QKR Steampede called Reading Books.

Speaking of learning, I pulled out some Distress Oxide Sprays and played around with them on my tag to see what results I got.  I was surprised at how nicely the colors blended together.  I then took a Tim Holtz stencil and inked it up with embossing ink and heat embossed the letters with a Brutus Monroe Raven Sparkle EP.

Not quite finished with my background, I knew I wanted to use some black seam binding ribbon for the top of my tag, so I grabbed some silver alcohol ink and dabbled the ribbon with it.  What was left on my glass surface, I took a fan brush and splattered some of it over the tag background.  I also rubbed it along the edges of the tag.

To give the bear image a bit of a “ground” to sit on, I took a strip of Brutus Monroe Black Glitterstock and attached it at the bottom of the tag.  Then for the word strips at the top, they’re from a cardstock sticker panel I had from an old card kit.  (They got splattered along with the background.)  Lastly, I just added a button with some twine in the middle of my seam binding bow.

Vicki-2CCCSept-QKR-close

And here’s a better look at this adorable bear image who’s studying really hard on his book!  I thought it would be funny to title the book for him.  So I took out my Copic liner pen and wrote in “Book of Honey” on the cover!  LOL!

I’ve colored up this image with Copics and fussy cut him out to attach to the bottom of the tag/bookmark.  I turned him over and rubbed a stylist over him to add some dimension to the image.  I popped him up with some foam dots over the black glitterstock strip.

Vicki-2CCCSept-QKR-flat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my bookmark/tag project today!  I had fun playing around with some media that I hadn’t had a chance to play with which was really fun!

Please be sure to hop on over to the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge blog to take a look at the inspiration from the rest of my design team friends and come play along with us this month!

Thanks for hanging out with me this weekend!  Hope you had fun or were inspired in some way!  I’ll be seeing you soon!

Fairy Princess Bunny With a Pocket!

Hello friends!  Hope you have enjoyed your weekend.  Yay!  We are finally getting some decent weather to be outside in!  It’s been rainy and chilly for a while, so it’s been nice to see some sun the last few days!

Today I have this really sweet image to share from Whimsy Stamps May Digital release and a fun extra added element with it!

Vicki-PC Fairy Princess Bunny Tag

I have made a tag using this really sweet Pollycraft image from Whimsy Stamps called Fairy Princess Bunny.  Isn’t she so sweet?!  I found some pretty papers to go with her and placed it over a purchased kraft colored tag that I sponged some white ink around the edges.

After placing the papers where I wanted them and trimming it down, I also attached a lace trim on each end of the papers over the tag.  The papers also had a bunch of sentiments included in the pack, so I added the circle sentiment to the tag and then die cut a kraft piece to layer behind it.  I also added some flowers and the ribbon at the top and then finished it off with some clear sequins.

Vicki-PC Fairy Princess Bunny Tag-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring I’ve done on tihs cutie.  I’ve used Copic Markers to color her in with using the following markers:  (You can find these HERE at Whimsy Stamps.)

  • Dress, shirt, shoes, socks – B37, B34, B32, B01, B00, B000
  • Bunny, bunny ears – R11, R00, R000, C3, C1, C0
  • Wings – R00, R000, E000, BG000
  • Hair – YR30, E41, E43, E44, V95
  • Skin – E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R00
  • Grass – G24, G21, G20
  • I used gel pens to make dots on wings and color in the crowns on the girl and bunny heads.  I also used a Wink of Stella glitter pen to go over the wings

After I colored her in, I cut her out from a circle stitched scallop die and then sponged around the image with a cloud stencil and distress ink.  I also sponged around the edges of the scallop circle with another color of distress ink and mounted her over the tag with a piece of craft foam behind her.

Vicki-PC Fairy Princess Bunny Tag-otherside

So when you flip the tag over, you can see that I’ve made a little pocket with the same papers I’ve used on the front of the tag.  I thought this would be a cute way to give out a gift card to your “Fairy Princess”.  The tag happens to be the perfect size for adding a pocket for a gift card to fit into.

A Beary Sweet Christmas Tag for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies (2nd Post of 3 today)

Hello friends!  I’m back with another new challenge for you today!

It’s the first of the month, so that means it’s time for a new monthly challenge over at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!  As always the challenge will last for 1 whole month and all you need to remember is to add a critter to your creation!  We look forward to seeing your critter makes this month!

Our sponsor for the challenge this month is Sparkle N Sprinkle!  They were kind enough to supply our team with some darling images to use for our creations!  Here’s what I’ve decided to make for my design:

Vicki-2CCC-SnS-tag

I have used this darling digital stamp set called A Peppermint Christmas  [DIGI3148M] from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  They offer colored versions with this digital set, but I opted to use this  cute polar bear and place the frame around him along with adding the sentiment above his head so I could color it.  I used a Word doc. to design it before printing it out.  Once printed out, I cut it down to size for my black tag and rounded the corners with a corner chomper.

I’ve been trying to develop my skills a bit with colored pencils and invested in a large set of them recently.  So this is what I have used to color in the images of my tag.  After coloring it all in, I thought…. I couldn’t use a Sparkle N Sprinkle image with no sparkle!! So I took out my Quicky Glue Pen [quicky] and then sprinkled some SnS Waterscape Glitter (Semi-Transparent) [G1108] over the snowflakes and dark gold star bursts.  For the stars, I’ve sprinkled the SnS Lemonade Ultrafine Glitter (Semi-Transparent) [G1091] over it for a bit more brighter sparkle!  I’ve also covered the peppermint candies with the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss Pen [888N] for some shimmer.  AND…if that wasn’t enough, I took the Quickly Glue Pen again and went along the edges of the white image panel and added the Waterscape Glitter to the edges.

For the assembly of my tag, I’ve used a pre-made tag from Graphic 45 and sponged around the edges of it with white ink.  I took some green colored glitter paper from my stash and added a strip of it across the center of the black tag.  I then added some pink silk ribbon strips on each side of the glitter paper.  I then used some craft foam to pop up the image panel and placed it on the tag.

I finished it off with a pink silk ribbon bow and added some more of it to the tag hole for a hanging element and tied that together with a piece of white twine.  Decided for a finishing touch to add a sparkly snowflake gem in the center of the bow.

I hope that you have enjoyed my critter project and be sure to check out the rest of the inspiration from the design team over at the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge Blog and come and join in the fun with us!

I have some REALLY exciting news coming up shortly after this post!!!  TEE HEE!!

Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Gingerbread Christmas Tag

Hello friends!  It seems like it’s been a while since my last post!  I have been feeling a little under the weather for a few days and I’m trying to get myself back on track…so hopefully I’m getting there!  Thank you to all who’ve left comments and a big welcome to my new followers!  So happy to have you here and hope you enjoy the postings!

I have a cute Christmas tag to share with you today using an oldie but a goodie Whimsy Stamps digital image:

Vicki-Oct24-Gingerbreadman Tag

This sweet little Gingerbread Man was so much fun to color and “bling up” a bit with some accents!  I have him colored up with Copic markers in the following:

  1.  Body:  E39, E37, E35, E15, E13 (Cheeks 0blender, R20 and frosting BG000 in certain areas.)
  2. Candy Cane and circle candy:  R39, R37, R35, R32, C3, C1, C0
  3. Nose and arm accents:  G16, G09
  4. Outter Edge of image:  BG10, BG000

I used a manila tag and got out a zig zag image from an older Whimsy Stamps clear set called Basic Backgrounds & Borders (retired) and stamped it on the tag with Rusty Hinge Oxide Ink.  I also used that color along with Tea Stain and Vintage Photo Oxide inks to sponge around the edges of the tag.  I used a water spritzer to add some drops and then blotted it with a towel to get the watermark look.

The gingerbread man panel was cut to fit the tag and I used some Tumbled Glass Oxide ink to stamp a few snowflakes around the gingerbread man from the Whimsy Stamps Snow Flurry stamp set and then sponged around the edges of this panel with the same brown oxide inks listed above.   I also stamped a sentiment at the bottom of the tag from the Whimsy Stamps Penguins Winter Adventure stamp set with Archival Jet Black ink.  I then added a strip of black washi tape from Tim Holtz Ideaology Christmas collection and then added some “faux snow” flakes at the bottom of the gingerbread man panel with some liquid glue.

For the ribbon, I used some seam binding ribbon and sprayed it with distress ink sprays in the same brown colors as inks that I’ve used, crinkled up and let it dry.  I added that to the top of the tag along with some tinsel ribbon.  I thought it went well with the snow!

Vicki-WS-Oct24-gingerbread-close

A closer view of the gingerbread man and you can see the added extra details that I’ve added to him.  For the candy cane and circle candy on his head, I covered them with a Spectrum Noir Glitter Brush Pen.  I’ve added some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops to the green dots and then some Nuvo Clear Crystal Drops to the frosting lines.  (You can see how it sines in the photo!)

Thank so much for stopping in today!  Hope you’ve enjoyed my tag and I’ll be seeing you very soon!! 🙂

Shello

Hello friends!  Hope you had a great weekend!  I’m so tired!  I forgot how much work it takes to put together a garage sale!  We had a nice day for it and it was a great turn out!  We are happy to have gotten rid of those big items in our way around the house.  We ended up donating the rest that did not sell.  Thinking of this, I probably need to go through my craft stash and do the same…but somehow, it’s just so much harder to decide what to keep and what not to…the pile ends up changing eventually! LOL!

If you remember, I have also been participating in the ICAD 2018 challenge which I have been going into my craft studio each day and creating at least once a day.  I can share with you the results of that each week as go, so be looking for that soon!

Today I have some fun “underwater” items to share:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Along with a fun painting retreat that I had went to in April this year…it was all the kick start I needed and then came the inspiration to blog again!  I am happy that I did as I missed sharing my art and communicating with my fellow crafty friends here! 🙂

For the card above, I wanted most of the card to look underwater and that’s where I’ve used vellum and die cut out a wave at the top of it.  I stamped the shoe image from above, the fish and underwater background stamp and colored with Copics.  I added the sentiment banner and the awesome two toned pearls over the top.  The edges of the vellum were sponged with blue ink and I added some blue sparkle on the waves.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Next, I have this really cool Jumb Tag that I’ve decorated with contents from this same kit!  I’ve used this cover die and instead of die cutting with it, I’ve used it for embossing.  Before I used the die, I covered the background with some distress inks and splashed some water dropplets over it.  I colored the images with my Copic markers, fussy cut them out and attached to the background.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s closer view of the images colored up.  Hard to see in the photos, but I have covered the mermaid’s eyes as well as the fish eyes with some glossy accents.  You can also see how cool looking those fish scale flat backs are…love the different shimmery colors in it!  And to give you an idea of the size of the tag, it’s 4″ x 8″!

Hope you’ve enjoyed my underwater creations today and I’ll see you again with more of what I’ve been crafting!  Have a great day!
