Sheetload of Cards With Flashback Card Kit

Hello friends!  I hope you’ve had a good week and looking forward to a great weekend ahead!  The weather has been unseasonably cool for this time of the year and I’m able to get my windows open the last few days and enjoying it!  Unfortunately, it’s going to warm up again, so I know that the air will come back on.

Today I’m sharing something that is a bit different and new to me, but I think it will come in very handy for the future as my “goal for next year” is to use up those old card kits that have been stored in my stash for WAY too long!  I’m hoping to start this on my blog next year each month and focus on a card kit each month so I can clear things out from my stash!  Stay tuned!

I found a fellow crafter Call Me Crafty Al and I decided to give her Sheetload of Cards a try for this month and see how it goes!  It would probably have been much easier to do it the way she did, but I challenged myself to use my card kit items instead:

Here’s the set of all eight cards using the same sketch from Crafty Al’s Sheetload for this month.  You may not recognize the card kit that I’ve used as it’s an old one from Simon Says Stamp.  The box had November 2015 written on it, and the paper inside had “Here’s Looking at You” card kit on it.  I know that I have pulled it out and used a few things out of it, but there was still plenty to use!

I was looking to make some uplifting/inspirational cards so this all worked out great.

Click on the photos above if you’re on my website so you can get a closer view of them.

I’ve used all of the cardstock except one sheet of kraft, all of the 6×6 papers were used except two sheets and I’ve also used up some of the journaling cards that were included as well as the stamp set and thread.  The reason why some of the edges are rounded is because the journaling card inside the kit had rounded edges.  I just decided to incorporate that into the design and I think it worked out okay.

Honestly, I don’t know weather to be proud of myself for using up my extremely old card kit or feel embarrassed for having such an old card kit still in my stash!😂

Regardless, I hope you’ve enjoyed my play with the “Sheetload of Cards” for August 2024 utilizing a very old card kit!  How about you?  Do you still have some card kits or stashes of something from 2015…er older?  Would you like to use them up too?  Follow along with me next year each month as I attempt to use up those old old old stash items and have a session of “Crafting to the Oldies“!  This is me holding myself accountable!  Let’s do this!

  • Thanks so much for dropping in today and have a great weekend!❤️

  1. Gorgeous series of cards, Vicki. Great to have used up your stash. Don’t feel embarressed about having stuff from 2015. I think I still have older stuff……

  2. Gorgeous selection of cards, love all the P. papers and and embellishments-great job on using up your kits- as for the age I made a card with some shall we say ancient papers off QVC and someone commented they were about 25yrs old!!!

  3. OMGosh, I love all your cards! This is such an awesome idea to use up stash… I so need to do this! I have mostly paper (but some kit supplies as well) that’s at least 15 years old which I’ve been hoarding and not wanting to use. And of course I also have a ton of much newer stuff that also needs to be used up. It has gotten to the point where I forget what I have because there is so much stuff stashed everywhere, lol! I’m working on reorganizing my studio so I can keep better track of everything. Your cards are fabulous!

  4. This is a great idea. And your kit cards are super also. It is way too easy to collect things, isn’t it? I think it can be more of an addiction even over the art-grin. Nice weather in my area too, but more heat is coming. That’s mostly OK as August isn’t over, but I have enjoyed these September temperatures. Have a super rest of your Friday and weekend. hugs-Erika

  5. I never bought a card kit yet because I know I would never use everything but look at you making all these cards from one seriously old kit! Congratulations! Each card has that distinct sketch and yet each one is quite different from the others and I like the versatility with all of those fun products. Those glasses are so cool but my favorite is that black heart that looks like cracked glass. You did a great job with each card and now you can take a bow 🙂 That’s quite an accomplishment for a crafter!

  8. I love Call Me Crafty Al. I have gone to her blog a lot and still have yet to make a few sheet loads of cards. Yes Loads. These are great and so uplifting. Gorgeous paper and nice when we can use up something old in our stash. I finally pushed myself to use up all my old card kits but alas I have so many other items I need to use up in my stash.

  9. Sounds like a plan, good luck for next year. And I never feel ashamed really, my old stuff is the result of collecting, I enjoyed it, I’m stuck with it all and hey, I don’t have to buy anything else…ever lol. Once I finally got past pleasing other crafters in favor of pleasing card recipients who don’t know or care about the latest stuff, I felt ALOT better. We get reeled in one way or another, ugh. xoxo

  10. This is a real work of art, Vicki. I love the watercolor background, the salt crumbs created a wonderful image, perfect for your further processing. Yes, pumpkins are a great autumn motif and you used it perfectly in this journal card. Thanks for the detailed description of the individual stages of creating your art journal. It must have been a fascinating trip to the north. Such a preview of the coming winter. The views and contact with wildlife are unforgettable. hugs

    1. Hey, this is a comment to another post, the correct translation didn’t copy and that’s where the mistake came from. Sorry :-))

  11. Such a lovely set of cards. The repeating motif on each card makes this collection of cards an inseparable whole. A beautiful set, very feminine.
