I’m Going to be Tagging You!

Hello friends!  This year I’ve been really inspired with all of the cool tags I’ve been seeing lately during this festive season and I wanted to join in on the fun too!  So you’re going to be seeing lots of tags from me scattered within my postings for the next several days!

25DaysTagsRedChristmas

The inspiration that I’ve been seeing comes from Tracey’s 25 Tags of Christmas Event and this is her 9th year of doing it!  Every day there has been some really cool and inspiring tags, so I had to join before the time runs out!  I did make a tag earlier in THIS POST  (Tag inspiration from Day 2) for the first one I’ve shared…but a few more are to follow starting now:

Vicki-BMTags-Day 1 and 4I’ve been wanting to pull out a few of my Brutus Monroe products and haven’t had a chance to take the time to play with all the fun things!  So I decided making tags would be a quick and fun way to play around a bit!  These were really fun to make!

Vicki-BMTags-Day1 onlyThe “Joy Coffee” tag was something that I had actually started during the “Coffee Lovers Blog Hop” this last time and never got around to posting it!  I was trying to combine the two events together as the inspiration for that tag came on Day 1 from Jen Schow’s tag for Altenew inspirational tags post.  I like how she cut out the wording on her globe and I thought I’d do the same idea with the word “joy” over my coffee cup.

I’ve used the Brutus Monroe Cozy Coffee stamp set and colored in the coffee and fussy cut it out.  I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set, but only cut out the word “joy” from it and popped it up over the cup.  I also took the hearts from the stamp set and stamped them over the kraft background with kraft colored ink.

I’ve taken the Brutus Monroe Holiday Essentials stamp set and heatset the snowflakes in the background of the tag with BM Alabaster EP.  Also for the background, I took some metallic gold watercolor and splattered some over it as Jen did on her tag and I liked that subtle look to it.

I’ve taken some gold thread and made a nest under the cut out coffee cup that was popped up with some foam tape over the tag.  (The tag itself was an old die cut from my stash BTW!)  Added seam binding and twine at the top.

Vicki-BMTags-Day 4 only

For this tag, I was really inspired with Kim’s tag on Day 4 of the Uniko post.  LOVED the monochromatic red with all the sparkle!

I really love theBrutus Monroe Glitterstock and I didn’t have a large enough tag die that I wanted to use, so I took a tag from my stash and traced around the backside of the BM Red Glitterstock and cut out my shape.  I had some rouned rectangle dies (Hero Arts) which I made a frame with for the  BM Fallen Snow Glitterstock.

Within that frame I took the BM Holiday Essentials stamp set again and used several of the images to stamp over a piece of white cardstock with red ink.  (It was fun to create a stamped background panel for this!)  I heat embossed one of the sentiments from the stamp set over a red piece of cardstock with the BM Alabaster Sparkle EP…it sparkles really pretty IRL!  I die cut the sentiment out with a banner die and tucked it behind the white frame I made with the stamped images.

I finished the tag with some sparkling clear sequins with some White Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops in the center of each one and then I added some white organdy ribbon with a bow at the top.

Hope you’ve been inspired in some way as I’ve been inspired to create these!  Thanks for stopping in and I will have a new post to share again with you tomorrow for the new challenge up at Cute Card Thursday so stay tuned! 🙂

Z-Fold Gift Card Holder with Digi Doodle Studios for Coffee Lovers Blog Hop + Video Tutorial

*This is my 2nd post for today, please scroll down or CLICK HERE to see my “2 Crafty Critter Crazies post.*

Good morning friends!  Aaah!  It sounds like a great morning for coffee doesn’t it?!  Well it sure does to me anyway!  Today, my post is all about coffee…so grab yourself a cup, sit back and enjoy!

Coffee Lovers Blog Hop Nov2019

I’m so excited today to share my post with you because Digi Doodle Studios is a first time sponsor for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  Please be sure to check them out during the blog hop and CLICK HERE to stop on over at the Digi Doodle Studios blog and check out what’s happening there today as well!  There are lots of fun coffee themed products in the store and I’m thrilled to be sharing some with you today:

Vicki-DDS-CoffeeHop-ZfoldGiftCard

Isn’t she just adorable with coffee in hand?!  This image is called “Ginger” from Digi Doodle Studios and I’ve got her all colored up front and center of my Z-Fold Gift Card Holder. (CLICK HERE to see all of the “Caffinated Cuties” Collection!)

If you have ever made a Z-Fold card, then this is something with a little bit of extra added fun with a gift card holder pocket on the inside, plus you can see how the card nicely displays on the front which is perfect for popping into an envelope to mail out to your coffee loving friend!

The papers that I’ve used for this work perfectly with the theme today which are also from Digi Doodle Studios called Coffee Break Digi Papers.  (I love that I never have to worry about running out of my favorite pattern!!)  There are also several sentiments from Digi Doodle Studios used on my project called Coffee Anyone Sentiments.

*If you want to see a video with detailed instructions on how to make one of these Z-Fold Gift Card Holders along with a sharing of the full collection of the digital papers that I’ve used on my project, check out the video below or CLICK HERE to view it on You Tube:

This is such an easy and fun project to put together especially for the up-coming Holidays, but as you can see this is very neutral so that I could easily use it for most any time of the year.

Vicki-DDS-CoffeeHop-ZfoldGiftCard-close

Here’s a closer view of “Ginger” and how I’ve colored her up with Copic markers.  Of course if you know me, I had to add a bit of sparkle somewhere.  I took a glitter brush pen and added some sparkle to her pink bow, the heart on her coat and the lid and flower on her coffee cup.

I die cut her out with a stitched rectangle die and then layered a piece of brown cardstock die cut with a scallop rectangle die.  For the around the edges of the image panel as well as the other sentiments I printed out, I sponged some Tea Stain Distress Ink around the edges.  The sentiment were cut out with a stitched circle die and then layered with a piece of brown cardstock cut with a scallop circle die.

To keep the image panel in place, a foam dot was used at the bottom panel so that when you pull up on the flap it opens up:

Vicki-DDS-CoffeeHop-ZfoldGiftCard-open

And this is what is so fun, is that when you flip up the front panel, you see how it opens up with the fun coffee sentiments inside and the surprise gift card holder at the top!

I have an urge to go to Starbucks now! LOL!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my fun Coffee themed project today as well as the video tutorial on how to make one yourself!  I’d love to see yours if you make one!  If you have any questions about anything, please let me know!

Now to sip on some more coffee and join in on all of the coffee inspiration today!  Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you again soon!

It’s Masculine at Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  Hope you are all having a wonderful week so far!   I’m ready for this rain to end over my way and would love to send it along to those that need it!  June is a hop-jump and a skip away, so I’m hoping that Summer will dry things up.

Speaking of June, Father’s Day will be coming up shortly for us here in the U.S. so the new challenge at Cute Card Thursday is a very timely one to have!  We’d like to see your “Masculine” creations this week!  Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Vicki-CCT584-Bugaboo

LOL!!  Our sponsor this week is Bugaboo Stamps!  I have used this hilarious image called Gus Tidbits Unconsciousness.   He’s a really good one to use for not only masculine, but humorous creations too!

For the card, I’ve printed out both the image and sentiment together and then cut out the panel with a stitched rectangle die and then layered a piece of Stampin’ Up! Soft Suede behind it.  Before attaching these pieces together, I’ve sponged some ink around the edges of it.

The checkered paper that I’ve used on my design came from a My Favorite Things paper pad collection.  I die cut a piece to layer over a top folding A2 sized white card base with another stitched rectangle die and then placed the image panel over top it on the card.

I also cut out a banner with the same papers and added it to the upper right image panel and then added on a chipboard clock button from my stash with some twine ribbon tied around it and placed it over the banner with some foam tape.  I’ve added a wooden button in the center of the bow.

Vicki-CCT584-Bugaboo-close

Here’s a better look at the coloring on Gus.  You can see on his eye glasses where I’ve added some glossy accents.  It was a really fun and simple card to create!

Vicki-CCT584-Bugaboo-flat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my masculine creation today!  Please be sure to hop on over to the Cute Card Thursday blog to find inspiration from the rest of the team and play along with us this week!  Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

*P.S.  Here is another update on the bird nest…we have a baby!!

baby bird nest

baby bird nest2

If you remember, there were 3 blue eggs in the nest.  We can’t tell for sure, but it looks like just one baby bird in there.  As you can see, there is one egg in there.  We see what looks like a crack on it, but it hasn’t hatched and we’re not sure it will.  We have no idea where the other egg/bird went to!  There is nothing on the ground.  With all of these severe thunderstorms and rain, I can imagine they’re having a hard time out there.  It shouldn’t be too much longer that this little guy will be taking flight!  So we’ll see if we can keep track of what’s going on from here! 🙂

Challenges I’d like to enter my card for:

  1.  TGIF – #TGIFC213 All About That Gingham213
  2. Papercraft – For Men & Boys
  3. Watercooler Wednesday – WWC223 Anything GoesWWC223 - Anything Goes Challenge

2 Crafty Critter Crazies – You are my Happy

Hello friends!!  Happy April Fool’s Day! 🙂

Well there’s “no fooling” here today as I bring you a post to share the creation I’ve made for a new challenge over at the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge Blog!  Since it’s the first of April, we have a brand new challenge starting with the “Anything Goes + critter” theme in mind!  Hope you will join us with your critter creations!

We are being sponsored by Digi Doodle Studios and this is the card I made for the challenge this month:

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia

Our sponsor was kind enough to share this very sweet image called Mia which I’ve used for my card today.  This is my first experience with these images and I must say they have some really cute ones in their store, so hop on over and check them out!

I’ve colored her up with Copic markers including drawing extended lines for the grass and coloring it up all the way across and down.  I cut it out with a cross stitched rectangle die and then used a sun ray stencil to ink some yellow behind  her by taping off the grass edge so I didn’t get any on that part.  I then stamped the sentiment in black ink over top of that.

To continue on with the yellow color theme I’ve got going on, I cut out a piece of yellow glitter cardstock that was cut out with a scallop rectangle die (retired from Lawn Fawn) and attached it to the back of the image panel.  I took some plaid papers for the bottom portion of the A2 white top folding card base and then attached some yellow grosgrain ribbon across the top and then attached the image panel and then added a yellow ribbon bow along the edge.  Lastly I finished it out with some yellow rhinestone crystals.

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on the image.  I took a black gel pen to color in the eyeballs circles.  I wasn’t sure how to go about coloring the eyes, but this is the way that made the most sense to me.  I also went around the edges of the butterfly with the black gel pen.  I took a glitter brush pen and went over the liquid in her cup.

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia-flat

I have to add that this image really got me thinking about past memories with my sweet little Mocca and how we would go out on nice Spring days like this.  She certainly was always “my happy” for sure and I still miss her like crazy.  I’m sure any of you that have lost pets understand what I’m saying.   It’s great to have the memories we’ve shared after all this time!

Please be sure to hop on over to the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies blog and check out the rest of the inspiration from the design team and play along with us this month!  Looking forward to seeing your critter creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I appreciate it so much!

We’re Recycling at Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  I’m back to share our new challenge for Cute Card Thursday this week!  I have to say that I enjoyed this challenge and I can’t wait to see what you come up with for this one.  We would like to see some “Recycling” on your projects this week!  There are so many different ways you could go…do you have a box full of “trash treasures” waiting to be used?  Now is the time to pull it out!  🙂

Here’s what I’ve come up with for the challenge:

Vicki-CCT558-Recycle-PolarBearSoup

I haven’t made these for a couple of years, but I like to save those Crystal Light plastic containers and decorate them and use them as “gift holders” or like I have here for some “polar bear/snowman soup” containers!

I try and keep the decorating somewhat simple, but I enjoy adding ribbon, glitter, etc just for the fun of it!  I’ve used an oldie but a goodie and my fave set from My Favorite Things called “Cool Day“.  I’ve used both of the polar bear images and colored them in, fussy cut them out and attached to the containers.  I’ve also white heat embossed the sentiments from the set and cut them out with a banner die for them to stand on.  I found some matching ribbon that I’ve wrapped around the top of the container and then added the bow.  Although I didn’t take a photo of the top of the lid, I’ve also cut out some matching pattern paper to decorate the top of the lid.  I’ve used some liquid glue to add some faux snow at the bottom of the containers and then some glitter under the polar bears feet.

Vicki-CCT558-Recycle-PolarBearSoup-back

This is actually the first time that I’ve done polar bears for these.  I usually use a snowman with the snowman soup poem, but since these were polar bears, I sort of changed out the wording to make it work with my design.  LOL.  I’ve just printed it up on the computer and added a coordinating mat behind it and attached it to the back of the containers.  It slightly sticks out on each side, but I could always trim it down more if I wanted it to fit, but I was fine with it.

Vicki-CCT558-Recycle-PolarBearSoup-containters

I just wanted to share a photo of the original packaging of these containers.  I have my family save these up for me and I will create with them each year.  I have about 10 of them saved up for now.  As a crafter, we always keep our eyes peeled for something we can save and create with!  🙂

Vicki-CCT558-Recycle-PolarBearSoup-close

And here’s a closer look at the details of the polar bears.  I used my Copics to color them.  For the green one, I used the pointillism technique to create the look on the sweater.  I also made the elbow pads and the circles on the mug.  I covered the mug with some glossy accents.  I added some glitter to the top of the hat on the red one.

Be sure to stop by the Cute Card Thursday blog to see the inspiration from the rest of the design team and enter your recycled creation to the gallery!  Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping in today!  See you soon!

Snow One Like You

Hello friends!  Stopping in to share a card I’ve made with an adorable Whimsy Stamps image and to remind you of the December challenge going on over on the Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Facebook Group.  If you are creating with any of your Whimsy Stamps products, I hope you will stop by and add your creation to the gallery!

Vicki-WS-CoffeePenguin-Nov20

This is the really adorable Penguin Coffee Break Digital stamp set by Crissy Armstrong…always LOVE using her adorable penguin images! 🙂  You actually get THREE digital images within this set.  You get the penguin alone like I’ve used on my card here, you also get one with the winter scene background behind him as well as just the scene by itself!  Pretty nice deal for one low price if you ask me!

I’ve made this a pretty simple card by printing out the image, coloring it up with Copics and then for the “snowflake” on the penguin’s shirt as well as the sentiment and the sparkly snowflakes in the background, I’ve pulled out the Whimsy Stamps Snow Flurry Clear Stamp Set.  I have heat embossed the smallest snowflake on the penguin’s shirt with white embossing powder and then I heat embossed the snowflakes in the background with some Sparkle N Sprinkle’s Sprinkle Embossing Powder [EP107] and lighly ink blended some Tumbled Glass distress ink over top of it.  I wrote the “snow” letters over the cup with a white gel pen and then stamped the sentiment from the Snow Flurry stamp set underneath the cup.  I’ve cut this panel out with a cross-stitch rectangle die and then layered it over some red cardstock and then mounted this onto a top folding A2 sized white card base.

Vicki-WS-CoffeePenguin-Nov20-close

Upon a closer view, you can sort of see the sparkly embossed snowflakes in the background as well as the coloring details.  For coloring up my penguin, here’s the Copics that I’ve used:

  1.  hat/scarf/mittens:  BG78, BG75, BG72
  2. sweatshirt/hat & scarf trimmings:  R39, R37, R35 for trimming: C3, C1, blender 0
  3. Penguin Body:  C8, C7, C5, C3, C1 for feet/beak:  Y35, Y21, Y11 cheeks:  R00, R000
  4. Cup:  W9, W7, W5, W3 liquid/steam:  E29, E25, E50
  5. Snow/shadow around and under penguin:  B00, B000, B0000

I’ve also covered the trim on his hat along with the trim on shirt with a Spectrum Noir glitter brush pen.  I added a dot of Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops to the center of the snowflake on his shirt as well as the liquid in his cup.

Vicki-WS-CoffeePenguin-Nov20-flat

It’s hard to capture the shimmer on his white hat trimmings, but you can see the sparkle in his cup and the center of his snowflake.   I was thinking of all of the things that you could add to his shirt besides a snowflake…so that would be fun to play with too!

Hope you’ve enjoyed my card today!  Please be sure to stop on over to the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group and add your creation to the challenge folder!  You never know, you might win something!!

Thanks for dropping in!  I’ll be back soon!

I’m Guest Designing for the Retro Rubber Challenge

Hello friends!  I’m super excited to have been asked to be a guest designer for one of the challenges over at the Retro Rubber Challenge blog!  Yay!  I really enjoy playing along in their challenges when I feel the need to break out some of my older stamps that have either been unused or neglected for a while.  If you have some stamps that are at least one year or older…or older yet as many of mine can be, then this is a great challenge to play along with!  Be sure to pop on over there and see what it’s all about, check out the inspiration from the design team and play along!

Here’s the card that I’ve created for the challenge, but be sure to check out the full details along with lots more photos below!

Vicki-rrcb97-GDT

For the current new challenge, they have come up with this fun “tic-tac-toe” board to play around with:

RRCB 97

For my card, I went with the bottom row of “animals, window and circles“:

Vicki-rrcb97guestDT

I have pulled out some stamps from my “penguin stash” as I like to call it!  LOL!  I have lots and lots of them and most of them are years and years old.  I’m actually not really sure how old this stamp set that I’ve used on my card today is, but it’s from Darcie’s Stamps and they haven’t been in the store for quite a while now I think.  (They still sell really darling stamp sets and there are a few on my list!) 🙂  I’m also not sure of the name as I don’t see it marked anywhere on the set.

For my card, I’ve taken a circle die and cut out my colored images.  I had to mask the hat so that it looked like the penguin was wearing it as well as mask that giggling penguin along with the hat so that I could stamp the mug so that it looked like the penguin was in front of the mug.  I also white heat embossed the sentiment and cut it out with a banner die at the top.  The sentiment also came with the stamp set.  I cut out a scallop circle and then cut the center out with the same size circle as the penguins to create the frame around the penguin scene.  I’ve used some older SU! papers from my stash to go along with my theme and then lastly added some red baker’s twine at the top along with some white enamel dots as well as a cute little wrapped up peppermint candy accent.

I have cut the center of the heart on the mug with my craft knife and now we are going to zoom in on the mug….

Vicki-rrcb97-GDT-windowcloseup

Here you can see the glittery heart window with the penguin on the other side!  I have made a window by cutting out the heart on the mug and then on the other side, I’ve used some packing tape with the sticky side exposed through the window so that I could add some glitter to it.

Vicki-rrbc97-GDT-insidecard

And then of course when you open the card, you can see this cute little penguin trying to balance himself on these glittery rolling peppermint candies!  LOL!  This is why the penguin on the front was giggling.  I think they had too much sugar!

I colored in a penguin from the set, fussy cut him out and then layered him over this line of peppermint circles that I found from an older card kit I had in my stash.  It’s from a piece of patterned paper that I cut out.  I added some shimmer over them with a glitter brush pen.  At the top you can see the cut out heart I made.

Vicki-rrbc97-GDT-inside

This is just a closer veiw of the penguin on the inside.  There is plenty of room above him to write a message.  Wasn’t sure if I wanted to leave this blank or put a Christmas sentiment on the inside yet.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card for today and I hope you will stop by the Retro Rubber Challenge to see the wonderful inspiration from the team and play along with us!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Thanks for stopping in! – P.S.  don’t forget to enter my give away if you haven’t yet! (I took a photo and added more items to it!)  Check out the home page of my blog to see the post and enter!
