Cuddle Bunny at Whimsy Stamps

Hello friends!  Hope you’ve had a great weekend!  The last time I posted I mentioned it was so nice that we could cook out on the grill, well this week it’s snow conditions and very cold!  With life in the Midwest, you never know what you’re going to get.

I thought it would be nice to turn that warm weather feeling to the inside of my craft room and create with this January released digital image from Whimsy Stamps:

vicki-wscuddlebunny-jan15

Fell in love with this darling image by Crissy Armstrong called Cuddle Bunny.  This had been a previous rubber stamp that is now available in digital format!  I think there are many advantages to getting a digital version:  1) It NEVER runs out of stock in the store because it’s a digital file, PLUS, you don’t have to wait for it to come in the mail!  2) You can size the image(s) whatever size you want it to be!  3) You can easily combine other images with it and arrange them as you’d like before printing it out.  4) You can color with Copic markers without worrying about anything getting smeared and lastly:  5) You can still feel like you’re “getting your hands crafty” by coloring and finishing out your creation with other products!  So, if you haven’t jumped on the “digital wagon”, an image like this would be a great one to try out!

vicki-wscuddlebunny-flat

For my card, I have colored my image with Copic markers, see the detail list below and then sponged some Tumbled Glass distress ink with an ink blending foam tool and a cloud stencil.  I then cut it out with the Whimsy Stamps Notched Rectangle dies and added a yellow layer behind it that I’ve notched out by hand.

For the background I’ve taken a piece of blue watercolor paper panel and lined the top and bottom of it with a strip of flower borders from my old stash.  I used a glue pen for the centers of the flowers and attached some glitter over top.  I added a strip of sheer white ribbon across it and attached it to a piece of shimmer luster paper which was mounted onto a 5″ square yellow card base.

Lastly, I used some craft foam behind the image panel and attached it over my card and then added the ribbon bow with a chipboard flower in the center.

vicki-wscuddlebunny-close

Here’s a closer look at the image where you can see how I’ve colored it.  Hard to capture in the photo, but I’ve also taken some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops and added a tiny dot in the centers of the white flowers.  I have also used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush and went over the butterfly.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today and I thank you so much for stopping in!  I look forward to sharing another project with you tomorrow!  See you soon!

Here’s the list of Copic markers I’ve used:

  1.  Dress, Hair Bow & White Flowers:  Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11, B00, B000
  2. Shoes:  E87, E84, E81

Celebrating at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies With a New Challenge For 2019!

Hello friends!!  Happy New Year to you!!  I hope you’ve enjoyed the celebrating with your family and friends!  Are you excited about a brand new 2019?!  I sure am!  I’ve got lots in store to share with you this year!  Hope you’re looking forward to it as much as I am!!

Let’s start this year off with a brand-new challenge over at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies, shall we?  Every first of the month there’s a brand new “Anything Goes” challenge…BUT you must use a critter somewhere on your project is all!

Vicki-2CCC22-Bugaboo

Isn’t this guy adorable?!  I have used one of our sponsor’s image for my card today from Bugaboo.  This is the Critter Balloons – elephant digital stamp.  I have actually cut him out twice and colored him in, but I cut just his head and the balloon to pop them up with some foam tape for a little dimension.

I’ve made a Center Step Card for my design today.  I kept the dimensions at an A2 standard size when it lays flat so that it will still fit inside an A2 envelope for mailing.

I’ve used some fun birthday style papers from my old stash and then I’ve used a sentiment from My Favorite Things More Essential Sentiments and white heat embossed it over a piece of black cardstock that I cut out with the Die-namics Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips.  Lastly, I added some silver ribbon above that.

Vicki-2CCC22-Bugaboo-close

Here’s a bit of a close-up to see the dimension over the image.  I’ve also taken a glue pen over the balloon image and added some clear sparkly glitter over it.

Hope that you’ve enjoyed my card today and I’ll be back very quickly with a second post today!

Challenges:

  1.  QKR Stampede – Anything Goes #328
  2. A Perfect Time to Craft – Anything Goes

Anything Goes for Cute Card Thursday

Well can you believe the first week in December is almost already done?!  Yikes!  Christmas is coming very quickly, so I’m happy to be making up some more Christmas cards as I post along here! 🙂

Today starts another new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and this week it is an easy “Anything Goes“!  So play, create and have fun to your heart’s content and share it with us in the gallery over there!  We look forward to seeing what you’re working on!

Vicki-WS-Christmas Unicorn-CCT559-Dec6

Now I don’t know about you, but I think a unicorn for Christmas would be a “yes please”!  I have used the new December image by Crissy Armstrong called A Christmas Unicorn.  I thought there was lots of opportunity to really bling up this fun image!

First, I have colored up this image with the following Copic markers:

  1.  Unicorn mane/tail/hooves: W9, W7, W5, W3, W1, W0
  2. Unicorn body:  C3, C1, C0, R00 (nostril/ear)
  3. Unicorn horn:  YR24, Y23, Y21
  4. Candy Cane/Ornaments:  R39, R37, R35, C1 (white areas)
  5. Tree:  YG67, YG63, YG61
  6. Star/Bell:  YR24, Y17, Y15, Y13
  7. Ground/Around entire image:  B00, B000

Then I thought one of the sentiments from the Whimsy Stamps Penguins Christmas Sentiments 1 digital set fit perfect with this image.  I fussy cut it out by hand as to capture the curve in the design and then I used a sponge dauber to apply a bit of ink around the edges of it and glued it right underneath the image.  (I think it makes it look sort of like a little ‘snow drift’ in front of the unicorn.)

For the card front base, I’ve picked out some papers to use from the Whimsy Stamps Christmas Red, Gold & Green digital collection and then added a silver glitter strip as well as a red cardstock strip that I ran through an embossing folder and then rubbed some white ink over the raised areas.  I glued these pieces to the green paper and then cut it out with a stitched rectangle die.  I mounted this piece over a piece of red cardstock that I attached to an A2 sized top folding white card base.

Vicki-WS-Christmas Unicorn-CCT559-close

Now for the details of my image, I’ve used a Spectrum Noir clear glitter brush pen to go over the unicorn horn and bell around his chest.  I then covered the candy cane with some glossy accents.

For the garland around the tree, I took a Nuvo Precision Glue Pen and sprinkled on some Sassy Silver Glitter.  For the star, I used Diamond Dust Glitter, and then, for on top of the sentiment as well as along the edges of the image panel, I ran some Nuvo Liquid Glue over it and then sprinkled on some Waterscape Glitter.  (You can see the difference in the glitters next to each other.  The Waterscape is finer than the one I used on the star.)

Vicki-WS-Christmas Unicorn-CCT559-1

I’ve then mounted the image panel onto a piece of red cardstock and attached it to the front of the card front.  I took some silver sparkle cardstock and die cut three snowflakes and attached them to the left side of the image panel and added a red star rhinestone to the center of each one.

Really had fun with the festive colors and details on this one!  Hope you’ve enjoyed my card today!

Here are some challenges I’d like to enter my card for:

Feeling Young at Heart

Hello friends!  Stopping in to share another guest design creation that I’ve made!   Here’s another I’ve made using the very sweet digital set Doctor at Heart:

Vicki-SnSNov-YoungatHeart

Isn’t this image darling?!  My first thought on this set was to try and go a little “vintage” with my design.  I opened up a Word doc. to insert the image and sentiment and sized and arranged it how I wanted it to look.  I printed it out on some cream-colored card stock and then cut it out with the Tonic Studios Follow Your Heart die using the frame portion only.

I wasn’t sure I wanted the image to look “vintage” so in asking hubby, he told me that I needed to color him up with blue shorts, brown/tan shoes, orange top and blond hair!  He was very specific about that!! LOL!  So I colored this cute image up with my Copic markers and gave some “outlining” shadows around the sentiment too.  I took a gel Stardust Pen and colored in the ‘metal parts’ of the stethoscope and then added some Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew (Gloss-clear) to the heart circle the boy is holding and let it dry.  I then used some distress inks and sponged around the edges of the heart image panel and spritzed it with water, waited a few seconds and dabbed it up with a paper towel.  I love the watermark look it gives to add that vintage flair and tie it all in together.

Vicki-SnSNov-YoungatHeart3

So when you tilt the card, you notice that the background looks like I’ve used some special glitter paper, but I did NOT!  I made my own glitter paper for the background!  I took another piece of black cardstock and covered the entire panel with VersaMark Ink and sprinkled it with some Black Magic embossing powder. Stunning sparkle!

Vicki-SnSNov-YoungatHeart2

For the look on the ribbon, I took some cream-colored seam binding ribbon and sprayed it with some water and rubbed it in some ink that I smeared onto my TH Glass Media Mat and crinkled it up and then let it dry.  I wrapped it around the embossed glitter background panel and added a bow with a button and natural twine for the center of it.  I mounted this glitter panel onto a 5 1/2″ squared cream-colored card base that I’ve ink blended around the edges in the same colors that I’ve used on the heart.  The heart image panel was then popped up over the ribbon strip and glitter background with craft foam and then the seam binding bow was attached along the edge of the heart.

Vicki-SnSNov-YoungatHeart1

For the corners of my card, I had a very old corner punch that I punched out from black card stock and attached them to the corners of the card.  I then used the  Nuvo Crystal Drops Ripened Pumpkin to add some “dot” in the middle of each punched corner piece to finish it off.  I think that the tiny bit of orange color ties in nicely with the glitter background and his orange shirt.

I really hope that you’ve enjoyed my fun ‘vintage charm’ creation as well!  Thanks so much for stopping in today and I’ll see you soon!

Challenges I’d like o enter my card for:

  1.  Little Red Wagon – “Remember When” (used Crystal Nuvo Drops – Rippened Pumpkin – meant to be for Halloween)
  2. Crafty Creations – Anything Goes
  3. The Creatie Crafters – Anything Goes

Happy Halloween – All Treats & No Tricks! :)

Hello friends!  I want to thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart for everyone of you that has left such sweet comments full of birthday wishes and lots of kindness that you’ve shared through something we have in common which is creating and sharing smiles!  I so enjoyed the stories that you’ve left about how you share your handmade creations with others.  PLEASE continue to create doing what you love and share those smiles with as many people as you can!  It really makes the world a much better place when we can serve one another in kindness.

I have always loved Halloween as a child and have so many fond memories dressing up each year and thinking about what I would be.  I tried to pass that tradition onto my children, and I dressed up right along with them!  For me, Halloween is full of lots of fun things besides just treats!  I wanted to celebrate those memories with a card today:

Vicki-BM-HalloweenBox

I’ve stamped the trick-or-treaters and bat and then colored them up with my Copic markers and fussy cut them all out and put them aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

For the background of the card, that “tree branch” panel came in the kit, so I ran it through my laminator to foil it…it turned out awesome!  (See photo below!)  I then took my distress inks and blended in a night sky over it.  I spritzed it with water and dried it off with a towel to get the water drop look.

I took this awesome border silhouette die from Impression Obsession and attached to the bottom of the scene for the trick-or-treaters to stand on.  I sponged the bottom edge with white ink.  Speaking of white ink, this is what I used to stamp the sentiment on a piece of black cardstock as well as sponge around the edges with it.  I used the glow-in-the-dark embossing powder over top of it.  (Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a good photo of it glowing in the dark…. but it does, and it looks cool!)  I made a banner with that strip and attached it to the left side of the card and then popped the bat up over it with foam tape.

Vicki-BM-HalloweenBox-foiled

Here you can capture a better look at the foiled tree branch in the background as well as the heat embossed sentiment.  I glued down the mummy girl and then I took foam tape to pop up the Frankenstein for dimension and depth.  I also added some yellow Stickles to the eyes and mouths on the pumpkins.

This card was so fun to do!  Hope you’ve enjoyed it as well!

Wishing you all a very fun Halloween however you choose to spend it!  I think I will be watching some scary movies and eating some popcorn which is something I enjoy doing with hubby!

The Feeling of Happy Mail

Hello friends!  Back with you again today to share another Whimsy Stamps digital “pretty”!  If you missed my Guest Design post for the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog, please click on the link or scroll down below this post. – thank you

You all know the feeling you get when you receive “happy mail” from the mailbox, and I think this cute image on my card today really sums up that feeling:

Vicki-WS-Pretty Girl Happy Mail- Oct 9

I have used the brand-new October digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps called “Pretty Girl Happy Mail” on my card today.  Oh those curly locks are adorable!

I have colored her in with my Copic markers in the following:

  1.  Coat/hat (darker tone) – R85, R83, R81 and for trimming – E11, E00, E000 (also coat fasteners)
  2. Coat/hat (fur) – W5, W3, W1 and highlighted with white gel pen flicks.
  3. Hair – E47, E43, E42 (eyebrows too)
  4. Skin – E21, E11, E00, E000, R20, R00 (eyes BG49)
  5. Mail – B00, B000 (unsure of tiny bit of color on postage stamp or coat fastener centers and string)

I then took a retired Whimsy Stamps clear set called “Handmade From Me” which had a couple of tiny solid hearts in it, and I took some pink colored ink to stamp a few hearts around the girl.  She really loves all her mail after all! 🙂

I cut her out with a stitched circle die and then mounted her over a piece of silver foil cardstock cut with a scallop stitched circle die.  I have used the same stamp set that I’ve mentioned above to heat emboss the sentiment with silver EP and cut it out with a banner die cut.  This is the same-colored cardstock I’ve used for the A2 sized top folding card base too.

The snowflake paper is from my stash and some I’ve been hoarding because I love it so much, but the snowflakes on it are silver metallic and have the texture on it as if it was heat embossed.  I placed this panel over my card base, attached the banner and then added the circle image panel over top of that including some craft foam to raise it up slightly over the design.

I was thinking that this image would work for either Christmas, winter or Valentine’s Day.  Yes, I know, I said the V word already!! Oops!

Vicki-WS-Pretty Girl Happy Mail-Oct 9-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring that I’ve done on her as well as the heat embossing.  Had so much fun coloring her up.  I think she especially looks wonderful on such a simple style design!

Thanks so much for stopping in and sharing your thoughts with me!  I appreciate that so much!  See you soon!

It’s Magical at Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends and happy Thursday to you!  Tomorrow is Friday and we are about to get started on the weekend!  I am ready for it too!

We have another brand new challenge up for you this week at Cute Card Thursday and the theme is “Magical“.  This will be fun to see how you interpret this one! 🙂  Here’s the card that I made for the challenge:

Vicki-CCT545-oddball-magical

I have used one of the sponsor’s images this week from Oddball Stamps which is Kawaii Big Eye Unicorn (with and without ornaments) Twinkles.  I have used the image without the ornaments on him, but it comes with both!  I think it’s adorable!

I printed out the image and used a wonky stitch rectangle die to cut out the panel with the image in the bottom right corner.  I printed it out a second time so that I can cut it out with some masking paper.  I placed the cut out masked paper unicorn over my card panel unicorn and stenciled the colorful cloudy background.  I colored the unicorn and the grass he’s sitting on with Copic markers.  Lastly, I stamped a sentiment from a My Favorite Things stamp set at the top with black ink.

Vicki-CCT545-oddball-magical-close

So looking at the unicorn from a different angle, you can see that I’ve added tons of shimmer and glitter to it.  I used a glitter brush pen for the muzzle, the hooves, the inside ears and around the eyes.  I’ve also went around the unicorn on the grass for a bit more shimmer too.  I took some clear dazzling diamonds glitter to add to the rainbow horn and tail using liquid glue.   Of course, there’s even more sparkle with the sequins.  I had a couple of heart sequins to add around the unicorn as well.

Thanks for stopping in today!

Challenges:

  1.  Papercraft Challenges – animals
  2. Addicted to Stamps & More! – Make Your Mark (stencil and Copics)
  3. Crafty Gals Corner – Anything Goes

I’m Just Lion Around

Hello friends!  It’s the start of the very last week for August already!  Fall is quickly approaching, and no… I’m not “lying” around, but I have been playing with this really cute King Lion digital image from Whimsy Stamps:

Vicki-WSKingLion-Aug28

I really enjoyed coloring in this image!  I’ve used my Copics to color it and of course I had to add some fun little details as you will see in the photo below.

I was trying to keep this design somewhat simple as the star of the show needs to be this image.  To help with the design, I’ve printed out some Whimsy Stamps digital papers called Great Outdoors.  Although the distress coloring on the edges of the image panel looks a little bright in the photo, it is more toned down on the card when seeing it IRL.  I have also stamped the sentiment and some accents on the image panel from the Whimsy Stamps Painted Sayings clear stamp set.  I added some ribbon through the center and then I added some wood veneer accents on each side of the image panel before popping it up with foam tape.  I’ve also added a couple of gold enamel dots on each end of the sentiment above the image panel.

Vicki-WSKingLion-Aug28-close

Here’s a closer look at my coloring of the image and you can also see that I’ve added some glossy accents to his nose, some shimmer on his crown as well as some red glitter Stickles in the center of the red gems on his crown.  I’ve added even more glitter along the distressed edges of the image panel with some tinsel glitter Stickles.  I used a distress tool to go around the edges.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today!  I will be back again on Thursday for a new challenge!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I appreciate you being here! 🙂

  1.  Sketch Saturday – sketch #528

Living in the Wild Wild West

Hello friends!  I hope that you are having a great weekend so far!

I’m stopping by to share my Whimsy Stamps creation that I made for my posting on the WS Inspiration Blog.  It’s my first post as a Whimsy Stamps digital DT over there, but I’m also posting on my own blog, here, for my readers and in case someone would like more details about my card design. 🙂

I have to say that I have been enjoying my coloring with these digital images since I’ve joined the DT.  It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve made cards like this for some reason and the feeling, I once had doing this is starting to come back, so I’m glad to be a part of the team!

A horse is a horse of course of course, but this one took on a different “spot” when coloring it.  I have used this month’s release Western Pony digital stamp for my card:

Vicki-WS-blogpostAug25-WesternPony

The inspiration for coloring in this horse came from this month’s release of digital papers called Animal Prints.  The spotted papers reminded me of the appaloosa breed of horse and so I took my coloring inspiration from there.  I found a photo online to help with some of the coloring details:

1280px-Appaloosa_stallion

It’s hard to see in the photo, but there are just a couple of spots of the brown/tan color in this horse.  I decided to add just a bit more brown/tan spots on mine.

I’ve added some coordinating card stock for the accents which helped bring out the colors in the horse too!  As you can see in my layout, I took a strip of those Animal Prints papers and layered it with a piece of black cardstock and wrapped some twine around it.  I attached it over some other Whimsy Stamps digital papers called Ahoy, There from a past release.  (Although the theme doesn’t suggest to use it for this type of card, I thought it complimented the overall design and brought out the blue colors from the blanket under the saddle.)

I took a paper pierce tool and added some stitching details around the image as well as the blue card front papers before attached it all down.  The image panel and card stock layer were rounded with a corner chomper.

Because it’s a digital image that comes with 2 separate images, you can use them together or not and resize them how you’d like.  So I printed the hat separately and then popped it up over the image panel to make it look as if it’s flying off in the wind.

I’ve added a silver foil star that I die cut from the Whimsy Stamps Pierced Stars die set, wrapped some twine around it and placed a bow with a button over top.  Lastly, I white heat embossed a sentiment under the image panel on a banner with the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiment Clear stamp set.

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve colored it:

Vicki-WS-blogposAug25-WesternPony-close

I’ve colored this image mainly with Copic markers and then took a white pencil to add a couple of highlights in the mane and tail.  I took my Copics to create the blades of grass and shadow for the ground.  There are also places on the harness and saddle that I’ve used a glitter gel pen for a metal look.

I think this sort of reminds me of a Western Sheriff with the star! LOL!  Thinking of that made me think this would be a fun card for a kid.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today!  If you haven’t stopped by the Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Blog to follow along, you might want to hop on over there to subscribe so you can get lots of inspiration using the Whimsy Stamps products along with information on new releases too!
