Hello friends! Happy Labor Day! Can you believe we’re in September already? The time goes so quickly! I’ve been helping my husband around the house so we can finish up some projects before the weather starts getting cooler on us! He does keep me busy since being retired! LOL!

As I had mentioned, although I wasn’t posting on my blog, I was still crafting. I’ve also been trying to organize my craft room with my husband helping me to move things around as my space had really gotten to be over-whelming. Carrying several card kits (many never used) and boxing them up to store, I realized how many things I actually have and never used! It’s fun to buy stuff, but I think it’s even better to use something I have…as I’m becoming my own store! So for this reason, my purpose has really shifted to TRY using what I already have if possible! I know many of us are in the same boat, so perhaps I can help inspire too!

Here’s a set of cards that I’ve been working on from a virtual class that took place sometime in July. It was supposed to be a set of 4 cards created with this gorgeous paper, stamp set and washi tape collection from Teresa Collins (Called “Create a Beautiful Life”). The purple and butterflies really spoke to me and I got the kit…which I honestly didn’t need, but this is how it’s been! I was supposed to get some already cut butterflies with the kit, which I didn’t…but it was fine, as of course, I had some dies that worked just fine for these cards and I decided to go off a bit on my own anyway.

Remember the post I had recently done about the washi tape challenge? This is what made me think about this card kit class and that I needed to finish it up! There’s a couple ideas in there using some of the pretty washi tape from the TC collection. I think taking all of these virtual classes has taken a tole and burned me out a bit as well because although I’m making the cards (and have a huge stash of them), I usually still have extra product/material to use up too! It sort of compounds the problem and doesn’t really help much. I think it’s just time to consider a heavy freeze on it all! Or at least until some of my stash gets used up anyway!🙄

Here’s a closer look at each one of the cards in the set. If you’re on my website, just click on each photo below to enlarge it or if you are set up with e-mail, it will probably show in original form. (There’s a caption under each card with the details too.)

The background is made using washi tape.

I stamped some of the sentiments that were included with the stamp set from the collection, but there were also strips at the bottom of some of the pattern papers, so I took some of them and used them for some of the other cards.

I really like how they’ve turned out and this will be a nice set of encouragement cards to send along for my donation box this month to “The Butterfly Project” for domestic violence.

Really hope they were inspiring for you as well and that you’re reminded to use your own stash of papers, washi tape and other forgotten materials too!

Hello! Anyone still with me?

Hello there friends! I know that I had posted that I’m stepping away , but this blog is still “active” for now and I have been crafting anyway… so after stepping away from it, I still follow along with different companies and inspiration on FB. But because I have SO much product and I wanted to be able to actually USE the things that I have instead of letting it just “sit around”, I was taking photos and posting (in FB groups) anyway, so I thought why not just BLOG IT?! Not just the crafty aspect of it all, but blogging itself is a bit of a release too. It gives me a “record” of my crafty experience, what and why I might have done something…so I decided for my own personal reasons, to come back to this “old dinosaur” method to enhance my crafty journey. It may not be exactly like it had been before, but that’s how crafty journeys evolve.

It’s been fun and busy with hubby being retired and home, but after getting use to it and traveling a bit, I was and still am taking a few classes here and there and just having fun. Because of the pandemic, so many companies have turned to “online” classes, conventions, challenges, etc so I thought it was a great opportunity to try some of that out without the expense of traveling for it! I’ve done several actually, but just mainly posted within the groups they were made for. Then I started thinking once again about all of the “stuff” I have and still ARE accumulating…so my mission is to actually use the product I have. I will try NOT to keep purchasing in the future! (Let’s see how THAT goes! LOL!) The blogging might help keep me motivated in doing that too…I hope!

So if you are still following…Wow! Thanks for being here!! Not really sure how often I will be posting, but this will be mainly where I will be sharing anything “crafty” that I’m doing. Maybe I can inspire someone to use their own crafty stash? Hope you can join the fun with me here too! 🙂

I’m starting with a couple of Summer classes that I just recently completed with Taylored Expressions. She did a class earlier this month with a set of 4 completed cards using similar style products for each class. The first one was called the “Gifted” class:

The top left card was used with a watercolor wash for the background. There’s a cover plate die that cuts out all those presents which I used on the card below that one to arrange over the sponged square area. The cards on the right side were both ink blended with the bottom right card using a stencil. I’ve also added some sparkle with a glitter brush pen and some glossy accents to the die cut “YAY!” lettering. Envelopes with seals were also included with this class set which you can see on the far right of the photo. I always need birthday cards, so these will work out great!

This next set is also from Taylored Expressions that I just finished up this weekend. Really enjoyed this class with some things that I forget about doing with my cards:

This class was called the “Diamond Botanical” class with another set of 4 cards. The top left card was fun with a more mixed media style using paint for the background and splatters. The only thing that I changed up was the background stamp. I didn’t have the stamp from Taylored Expressions that they used in the class, so I used a Stampin’ Up! Birch background stamp I found in my stash. (So yay that I’ve already started with using my existing stash with the new!)

The top right card is a shaker card and the bottom left card is a gate fold card with the sentiment panel helping to hold it in place. Again, with this class we were given envelopes with the matching seals off to the right. These were fun little classes to take and get some cards completed with!

Adelina Fairy from Digi Doodle Studios Celebrating Peace & Happiness for 2021🎉

Hello friends! It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m so excited to kick this year to the curb…how about you?! Whatever your plans are to ring in the New Year, please stay safe and enjoy sharing with those you love for hope of peace and happiness in the New Year for 2021!❤🎉

Today, I have a card that I’ve made for a challenge deadline and needed to have it in by today, so I wanted to be sure to share it with you all:

This was actually a “Digital freebie” from the Kit and Clowder Group Advent Calendar of Events they do every year. Digi Doodle Studios gave away this darling image called Adelina-Fairy. (If you like the fairy/angel type images, check out these gorgeous images HERE as well!)

I made this card and colored up this sweet image as the Digi Doodle Studios Facebook Group was holding a special “coloring challenge” using this specific image and I wanted to make sure that it met the deadline for getting it in and so I actually posted it in there yesterday, but I’m posting on my blog today along with more photos and details.

The image is beautiful with her poinsettia flowers and so I wanted to be sure to color it up with red and green colors in mind…although I think she would be great for ANY occasion as well as coloring the flowers differently. I used some die cut circles for cutting her out with and then layering her over a die cut piece of gold mirror cardstock.

I’ve used some poinsettia decorative papers from my stash for the background and layered some red poinsettia embossed strips layered with gold mirror cardstock over the background before adding the layered circle image on top. The embossed strips also had white ink rubbed over top lightly to emphasize the textures. I white heat embossed a sentiment and cut it out with a banner die to place on the bottom corner with craft foam which is what I also added behind the image circle panel too.

Before attaching the bottom strip to the card, I also added some gold cord and a bow. I finished off the card with three poinsettia flowers from my stash. The entire card measures 5″ square.

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve got her colored up. I added some really subtle shading with my Copics underneath her legs for shadows. I did my usual white gel pen for checks and hightlights and then I used a gold gel pen for coloring in the dots on her wings and in her hair.

Really enjoyed coloring this gorgeous image and it’s awesome that I now have another Christmas card ready for next year as well! Thanks so much for stopping in today! Hope that you’ve enjoyed my final card and post for the year…

Bright Birthday and More Whimsy Retreat Projects!💡

Hello friends! Hope that you’re having a great week so far! Hubby and I are trying to figure out how this “retirement thing” goes together! LOL! I think we’ll be having so much fun and we’re just really excited about the future and what we’ll be doing.

Speaking of which, this past Sunday he also celebrated a birthday and of course I had to make him a card that was suited for an electrician. I had to add a bit of humor about his age on the inside, but this is what I came up with:

I’ve had this Stampin’ Up! Sunburst die and stamp set and haven’t used it that much since I bought it. (quite a while ago! Not quite sure how old.. LOL) I thought it would make a great light beam for my VERY old Simon Says Stamp ‘Watts Up’ stamp set that was from a past card kit. (circa 2014/2015)…yep, all old!

I die cut the sunburst from some yellow and gold glitterstock that I glued together slightly off-set and then attached it over a side folding A2 sized black card base. I stamped the sentiments over a couple of the yellow strips with black ink taking care to make room for the circle panel.

I then stamped the lightbulb over a white piece of cardstock and colored the base with Copics and used a marker draw a line above it for the string. I took a solid heart from the stamp set and heat embossed it with some Gold Metallic Gilded EP and then sponged some yellow ink over the bulb for some glow. I die cut it out with a circle die and then layered over another die cut circle black piece and popped it up over the sunburst layers with foam tape.

I tied a bow with some black twine and glued it to the light bulb base. I also stamped the bulb in a lighter gray ink over the envelope and added a string to that as well with a gray marker. (The inside of the card said: “Old is the new black.” 😆)

And I also wanted to share that I’m still plugging away on the several kits that I received from the Whimsy Stamps Virtual Retreat last month! These are really amazing projects and I’m having lots of fun putting them together still! (Christmas will be coming next..so stay tuned for those!):

This is a fun interactive card with a pull tab at the top where this cut little dragon slides upwards towards the sky! This kit 9 came with an A2 sized envelope, but I had to make my own envelope slightly larger to accommodate for the pull tab sticking above the card. I’ve added doodle lines around the edges and shadow stamped a sentiment at the bottom for my own added details.

This set was from kit 14. The hexagon shaped box was super fun and even came with the candy! There was also an extra stamped and cut out bee, so I used it to make another card… shaker style! I used the left over honeycomb die cut piece as a stencil on the card as well. I used the envelope that was provided in the kit above and decorated it for this A2 sized card instead. (I know someone that loves these candies…so they might get a surprise at some point! 😉)

And lastly, this was from kit 15 and TOTALLY different than what was photographed in the booklet! First of all, I received a plant image with a die cut speech bubble sentiments and thought it might be cool for a Halloween card on another project, so I saved those to use later. I received an EXTRA stamped sunflower image from kit 22 that I had posted earlier and decided to use it for this card here. I colored it similar to that one and cut it out, but cut off a portion of it on this design. I also changed up the background ink blended colors and splattered some gold paint on this one. Love how it turned out. This will be for an Autumn anniversary card for someone coming soon.

Dia de los Muertos with Monsters/Ghouls for {Cupcake Inspirations} Reminder

Hello there friends! I hope that you’ve had a wonderful Halloween weekend! It always go by so fast for me which is why I’m so happy that there is STILL one more week left for our {Cupcake Inspirations} Challenge with the theme “Monster/Ghouls“! (This can be interpreted in several different ways…not just for Halloween!)

So I hope that you will be able to share something for our current challenge before it ends this week! We look forward to seeing your makes!

Now, I realize that Halloween day is past us, BUT…my sister-in-law celebrates her Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos which is “Day of the Dead” and it starts on Halloween at midnight and ends November 2nd. So I thought I would share this fun “ghoul” card representing the Holiday that I’ve made for her:

I don’t own any “sugar skull” type of stamps, but I have seen some and think they’re really cool looking! I did have this stunning card panel from a past card Kit that is printed on toner ink so that you can foil over it.

I started by ink blending over it with Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint Distress inks and then I took some Rose Gold Deco Foil and ran it through my laminator to get that pretty foiled background. I then cut it out with the MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle die and mounted it over an A2 sized top folding black card base.

For the Sugar Skull, I cut it out with my Cricut Explore machine in the several different colors and paper pieced it onto the white skull using a piece of sticker sheet behind it. It was popped up over the card with foam tape.

I printed out the words on my computer and die cut it out with a MFT border die and sponged around it with some Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar inks that I’ve popped up over the card with foam tape. Lastly, I added some rhinestones on each side as well as the eyeballs.

I also forgot that I used some black detail stickers in the corners of the design. I’ve added some to the inside and then printed out a Spanish poem relating to the Holiday.

Color Combo for {Cupcake Inspirations}

Hello friends! I hope that you’ve had a very pleasant weekend! I enjoyed spending some time visiting with my son for his birthday as I haven’t seen him for a while, so it was nice to laugh with him. If you haven’t checked out the card I made for his birthday, check out my last post for the blog hop along with a video I shared!

Today starts a brand new challenge over at the {Cupcake Inspirations} challenge blog! We are Playing with a fun color combination this time using the colors: Lime, Pink and Green It’s not only a yummy cupcake, but yummy colors too! Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!

Here’s my take with the colors for my first card for the challenge:

For some reason, the first thing I thought of was gnomes! So I grabbed this really adorable Gnome Matter What clear stamp set from Whimsy Stamps and colored up that gnome and frog pair! I fussy cut them out and made a grassy hill for them to sit on by ink blending a panel that was spritzed with water and then cutting it out with a mushroom border die from Lawn Fawn.

I also used the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes paper pack in the pink shade for the background behind the grassy hill which I stamped the sentiment over and gently rubbed some more pink pastel over it.

The entire panel was cut out with my fave Wonky Stitched Rectangle die from MFT and layered over a bright pink A2 sized top folding card base.

A closer look at the images, you can see how I’ve got them colored up with Copics, but I’ve also added the usual details to the images with a white gel pen for the gnome’s cheeks and flower center. I went over the flower with a glitter brush pen. I’ve also added some dots to his shirt with a metallic green gel pen and then went over his buckle with a gold gel pen.

I’ve just attached the gnome with liquid glue, but I’ve used foam tape to pop up the frog pair and then I’ve added some more dots with the white and green metallic gel pens and then went over their eyes with glossy accents for shine.

I think maybe this is a fantastic message for all of us right now. That gnome looks pretty chill!😉

Guest Designer for Cheerful Sketches!

Hey there friends! I’m so excited to share with you my project I’ve made for the September *Cheerful Sketches* blog challenge as a guest designer for this month! Please be sure to check out the original September challenge post for details and where to link up your project.

Here’s the project that I’ve made with the sketch photo and image that was provided to me:

This darling little image is by Colour of Love Shop called Li’l Fidget Unicorn Girl – A Daisy Thing and you can click on the link to see/purchase image in the shop if you’re interested. They’re sponsoring the *Cheerful Sketches* challenge for this month, so be sure to check out all of the wonderful inspiration from the team over there!

Here is the sketch for September you need to follow:

I have used the sketch for inspiration on how to layout my card here after I colored her up and then cut her out with a circle die. I also ink blended around the edges for a bit of color and then I found some pretty papers in my stash to cut out wih die and accent the circle image panel as well. I’ve used a Spellbinders scallop circle die as well as a MFT older die frame no longer available.

I had some pretty fairy style papers in my stash and I’ve added those as well as more of the papers from my layered die cut circle from Brutus Monroe called Mermaid Skin Cardstock and lavendar cardstock from my stash. I then added some pretty flowers as well as sequins and glitter over the design.

I’ve also stamped a “Make a Wish” sentiment in the bottom right corner of the card.

Here’s a closer look at the Copic coloring I’ve done on the image. I’ve added some glitter to her unicorn horn on the top of her head and I’ve used several different gel pens to add dots and details to the image as well. It was very hard for me NOT to use a purple color on her for the flowers…so I think it incorporated well into the design.

You can also see the wonderful shine over that Mermaid Skin cardstock I’ve used to! It’s just beautiful when you’re holding it in person!

You can also see where I’ve taken some Ranger Stickles to fill the centers of the sequins and add additonal drops.

Sometimes it’s fun to just sit and color up gorgeous images like this and I think this was a really good one to practice along with the sketch! I really hope that you’ve enjoyed it as well and has brought you some inspiration today!

{Cupcake Inspirations} Birthday Celebration Day 11

I have the gorgeous Sunshine Daisies digital set for my design here by printing the image along with the sentiment that came with the set on a piece of Bristol watercolor paper. I remember hubby brightening up my day a while back with some very pretty colorful rainbow of daisy flowers he brought home, so I based my colors that way.

I’ve used my watercolor markers and waterbrush to color the image with and then I took some yellow sparkle AquaPigment along with some Cream Grey Aquapigment from Brutus Monroe to splatter over top of the design before I cut it out with a Wonky Stitch rectangle die from MFT.

I layered this panel over an A2 top folding Soft Suede card base and finifhed it off with some clear sparkle sequins that I added some yellow Stickles to the centers.

{Cupcake Inspirations} Color Challenge Reminder

Hello there friends! Hoping you’ve had a wonderful weekend! It’s gotten pretty warm again over my way after enjoying the slightly cooler and beautiful weather for a while! I’ve been enjoying the flowers while they’re still around!

I’m sharing some more inspiration with you today for a reminder on our current color challenge for {Cupcake Inspirations}, so if you haven’t played along with us yet, you still have another week to join us!

For some reason this color challenge still had me thinking of daisy flowers…so I went with that again for my design this week as well:

I’ve pulled out a Pink and Main stamp set called Daisy Bugs and colored up the bundle of flowers image with Copic markers and then used the coordinating dies to cu it out with which was popped up over my design with foam tape.

I used the sentiment from the same stamp set as well and white heat embossed it over Navy cardstock and used the coordinating die to cut that out with as well which was glued over the card.

The yellow decorative papers were pulled out from my older Stampin’ Up! stash as I thought it fit with the theme and I was super happy to use some more papers up! I’ve used a stitched circle die to cut out the white layer behind the flowers and then another fancy circle die from Gina Marie cut out with Navy to layer behind that as well. I also die cut a border strip with a Crafter’s Companion die to place across my design and I wrapped some stitched navy ribbon (SU!) over it before attaching to the design.

I glued the bow over top of the circle image panel and then I used a navy marker to create the stitch lines around the edges to finish it off.

Here’s a closer look at the flowers popped up on the design. You can see in the centers of the flowers that I’ve added some glossy accents.

I think it really makes the flowers pop off the design!

It’s a Color Challenge for {Cupcake Inspirations}

Hello friends! Hope you’ve had a great weekend and enjoying your Summer so far!

Today starts up a brand new challenge over at {Cupcake Inspirations} and this time we have a fun color challenge for you to try out:

When I saw this challenge, the first thing that went through my mind was this unique and fun bicycle image from the Blooming Bicycle stamp set.

I left the “wheels” white for daisies and colored the rest in blues and yellows with Copic markers, fussy cut it out and popped it up with foam tape over the sponged cloudy background. I cut that panel with a stitched rectangle die, layered it over a piece of yellow cardstock and used some pretty daisy papers from my stash for the background. I’ve also used these papers for the strip on the front and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with navy ink. I’ve mounted these layers over an A2 sized top folding navy blue card base. (I followed a sketch design for a challenge, see below.)

The flower from my stash was actually a bright turquoise color, but I’ve used some white gesso and painted over it. I’ve also taken some crackle paint and went over it along with some sparkly white paint and went over the crackle with that. (I’ve always hoarded my paper flowers because I believe you can always change the colors for your project.) I’ve added some yellow ribbon around the strip and added a blue button and yellow bow with the ribbon over the flower to finish it off.

Here’s a closer view of the bicycle colored in as well as the details of the painted flower.

I colored parts of the bike in blue colors and then left some areas on the bike that I thought would be metal and colored those areas with a clear metallic gel pen. I popped up the bike with foam tape and left it sticking off the edges to make it look like it’s ready to get on for a ride!

You can really see the shimmer over the flower with the Lumiere acrylic paint I’ve used…love that stuff! (The white flowers in my photo props I felt weren’t “daisy” looking enough, so I opted to paint over a colored one with longer petals. I’m silly like that😉!)
