Pink & Main Video Hop with Hello Autumn Slimline

Hello friends!  I hope you’ve had a fantastic week!  It seems like this month is flying by!

I’m excited to share with you a fun video hop collaboration with Pink and Main on my You Tube Channel today! (Be sure to check it out on MY VIDEO because there is a giveaway and you’ll need to leave comments on the videos to be entered to win!)  So head on over to see the wonderful inspiration with the Pink and Main products going on!

Here’s the fun Autumn themed slimline card I’ve made for the video hop today:

So Pink and Main has come out with some fabulous new products which I’ve used for my card here and I’ve added some fun techniques to use with some of those products as well!

The background was really fun to create using the Pink & Main Blending Brushes along with the new Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide Ink color that just came out!  I’ve also used the wonderful Leafy Stencil from Pink & Main over the background too.  The cups and leaves were also colored using the oxide inks and a waterbrush which you can see in my video as well as how I’ve inked and cut out the one image backwards so I have two cups with the handles in opposite directions on my design here.

You can check out how I’ve put this design together and the techniques I’ve used in this video below, or to leave a comment and see the link to the next person in the video hop, CLICK HERE to go to the video on You Tube.

I absolutely fell in love with that Need to Venti stamp set and coordinating dies!  I loved that older Christmas Mugs stamps they had previously came out, but Autumn is awesome to add to my collection because it’s my favorite time of the year!  So be sure to check out how to stretch out the use of this set in video above!

The Blessings slimline die was so fun to use on my card too and I love that the frame cuts out separately from the center and there was room to layer behind it before attaching to your slimline card base.  The Brutus Monroe Copper Glitterstock was the perfect accent behind the scallop frame. That frame was cut out with several layers of cardstock and stacked together for thickness.

The same Copper Glitterstock was used to cut out the sentiment dies as well.  I’ve used some vellum to layer behind the Autumn sentiment, which the backing diecut was also included in this same slimeline die set!  The final measurement of my slimline card was a piece of brown cardstock measuring 8.5″ x 7″ and scored at 3.5″ in the center.  The finished card will fit inside a #10 envelope when closed.

Here’s a closer view of the details with my colored cups using the distress oxide inks and waterbrush.  I’ve also used the same Need to Venti stamp set and oxide ink colors to stamp the leaves and die cut them out to arrange over my scene as well.

I popped up the cups with foam squares and added some drops over the whip topping in the cups with some Nuvo Honey Gold Crystal Drops.

Hopefully you can see the pretty Autumn colors and dimension in the card.  I sure had lots of fun putting all of this together!

Thanks so much for dropping in today and I’ll be seeing you soon!

Spooky Ombre & Welcome Gnomes for Dare to Get Dirty

Hello friends!  I’m back again today to share a couple more cards that I’ve made for the Splitcoaststampers “Dare to Get Dirty” event!  They’ve released another batch of challenge over there today!  There is certainly lots of crafty fun going on lately, isn’t there?!😀

My first card was made for a challenge from the lovely Lee:

Vicki-DTGD20LuvLee-ombre

This card was so much fun to create!  I’ve used only purple shades to make this entire design!  I started out with a white piece of cardstock using the MFT Rolling Clouds stencil and ink blended them in with several Stampin’ Up! inks that I’ve had in my stash for quite a while now! LOL!  After I was done, I spritzed it with a water bottle.

I took the awesomely spooky Trick or Treat stamp set and used some SU! Elegant Eggplant ink to stamp the witch image, bat and the sentiment at the bottom.  I used my MISTI to stamp several times to darken the ink up on them.

I cut out the panel with a stitched rectangle and then cut out an additional piece of Potion Cardstock with a stitched scallop rectangle die from MFT. I layered it over an A2 sized top folding Elegant Eggplant card base.

Vicki-DTGD20LuvLee-ombre-close

I then took a glitter brush pen to “color in” the inside of the moon around the witch that gave a really cool shimmer look to it. I then started noticing that it was taking away some of the purple ink while doing this, which was really awesome as it made the moon glow even more!  (I just had to be careful around the witch because she was stamped with regular dye purple ink and I didn’t want to blur it.)

I finished the design with some Lilac Matte Sequins that I filled with some Violet Galaxy Crystal Nuvo Drops.  It’s much more sparkly in person!

My next card was made for a challenge from the lovely Kelly:

Vicki-DTGD20MiamiKel4-gnomes

This scene was really fun to put together!  I fell in the love with the little house and gnomes from the Simon Says Stamp Gnome School.  I thought it would make a nice “new home” type of card.  I colored them up and cut them out with the coordinating dies to arrange over my scene.

The scene started with a piece of kraft that was ran over with the SSS Petal Plate die for the texture in the background.  I cut out some clouds and a border of grass with dies and inked them up with some inks for shadows.  I then took this panel and cut it all out with a stitched rectangle die and mounted it over a top folding A2 sized black card base.  I also took a sentiment strip from the SSS Gnome School Sentiment Strips to place over the design while arranging the images over the scene.

Vicki-DTGD20MiamiKel4-gnomes-close

For the sign on top of the “home”, I used one of the sentiments made for that spot and white heat embossed it over my coloring.  Hard to tell in the photo, but I’ve also covered the heart on the gnome’s hat as well as the glasses on the gnome with a glitter brush pen.  I also did the same for the windows on the home.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creations for today and I sure appreciate you stopping in to check out all of the happenings that are going on!  Hope you’re able to join in some of what’s going on too!  See you soon!

Dare to Get Dirty Has Begun with Something Festive!

Hello friends! Yes, I know, not only am I posting every single day, now I’m posting twice in one day!?! What’s going on with me?!😂 Really sorry to “bombard” you with all of these posts, but this is what I meant by me being SO busy “behind the scenes”! If I do miss a day, you’re going to wonder if I’ve left again! It sure is busy, but it’s also fun while the long days of Summer go by.

Today starts the Splitcoaststampers “Dare to Get Dirty” annual event full of fun challenges by current and past alumni from the Dirty Dozen Design Team. This is the 16th year that this special event has happened! I’m very proud to be associated with Splitcoaststampers and have been apart of the community since 2003…a lurker👀 a few years before that too! I have some LIFE LONG friends as that’s where I started putting anything I ever created online anywhere. So in June of 2016 I was honored when asked to be apart of the Dirty Dozen Design Team! They certainly have my creative heart forever. So I think I missed last years event because I was not well at that time, so I will be participating as a challenge hostess this year. You must be a “Fan Club Member” over there to be able to see the event, so if you’re interested in joining, please check out the “How to Become a Fan Club Member” page. (Otherwise you will not “see” the event details.).

So each day, there’s about 5-6 new challenges released starting today and lasting until Friday August 28th…that’s a whole lot of challenges! I obviously didn’t have time to make something for every single challenge, but I have made a few to help my fellow “Dare to Get Dirty DT friends” create samples for their challenge.

The first challenge I made a creation for was the lovely Kittie’s challenge. And obviously, I cannot reveal what the challenge is about, I can show you my creation and ask that you head on over to the event to see the details and play along with us….

I had such a fun time creating this fun Holiday themed slimline! I pulled out an old favorite “Santa’s Elves” stamp set from My Favorite Things for this one. I’ve stamped and colored several images from this set using Copic markers and cut them out with a coordinating die. For the scene, I’ve taken a piece of white cardstock and used a wave border die to cut out the different snowy hillsides and before attaching them down, I’ve used a blending tool to add some blue ink to the edges. I then took each individual hill and embossed them with an embossing folder.

I arranged the “hills” over a piece of brushed gold cardstock that was cut out with a stitched slimline die from Trinity Stamps. I “tucked in” the cut out images in between the hills. The gold layer was attached over a red stitched scallop slimline piece that was mounted over a 3.5 x 8.5 slimline card side folding white card base. I’ve also used one of the banners from that Trinity Stamps die set to white heat emboss the sentiment from the stamp set and then popped up the little elf over top of that with foam tape over the bottom of the card front. I also attached that little holly image at the end of it.

Lastly, I topped the card off with holiday colored sequins filled with gold Stickles in the centers.

Here’s a little bit of a closer view of the images on the card. I’ve taken a glitter brush pen and went over the stars on the trees as well as the ornaments and the bell on the elf’s hat for a bit of shimmer. I also covered the holly berries on the bottom sentiment with some glossy accents. (Hard to get all details in there!)

Hope you’ve enjoyed my Christmas slimline card today as well as all of the daily posts I’ve been sharing! I look forward to either seeing what you create during the “Dare to Get Dirty” event or anything else you may be working on! The end of the year is coming soon and I know everyone will be creating lots of fun things!

Thanks for joining me today friends! I’ll see you again tomorrow! Stay well and happy!

Interactive Fun for Crafty Chefs + Video

Hello friends!  We are nearing the end of July and I wanted to be sure to try and get at least ONE “Christmas in July” project in before the month is gone, so I thought I’d keep things fun and simple as well as “kill 2 birds with one stone” so-to-speak!

Now we’re given one “must do” item from the previous chef to use on our recipe.  My item from Nana Connie was *”die cut” and so here is the project that I’ve made for this month’s “Crafty Chefs” group:

Vicki-DDSElves-squarefold

I have used a scallop square (cut from gold metallic mirror cardstock) and stitched square die cuts for layers on my project here.  I’ve taken this really cute elf image from the Christmas Elves Pairables digital set from Digi Doodle Studios on the front of my design.

I’ve printed out and colored the present from the same digital set along with another elf image (for his arm only) so that I could cut them out to make it look like he’s holding the gift.  His cut out arm was popped up with foam tape.  I’ve colored with Copic markers, added details with gel pens, liquid applique and Stickles glitter under his feet for snow affects.  I also stamped extra snowflakes for the background as well as add three snowflake rhinestones for accents.

Here’s the Crafty Chef’s August Recipe:

MUST DO:

  1.  *Die Cut (can also use electronic machine like Cricut, etc)
  2. Interactive (More than 1 fold eg: easel card, gatefold, etc.)
  3. Specialty Paper (foil, vellum, glitter, etc.)
  4. ribbon/twine/raffia

CAN DO:

  1.  Color an image
  2.  Add THREE of something
  3. **add glitter/sparkle – (this one I’m passing along to the next chef)

It doesn’t appear to be very interactive by looking at it, but when you untie the ribbon along the side, this is what it looks like when you open it up:

Vicki-DDSElves-squarefold-open

I have decorated two of the opposite panels with a greeting and then I’ve added a pocket to the top left panel so that I could include a gift card or cash to the recipient for Christmas!  I thought it was a super quick and fun interactive design to do!

If you are interested in learning how this project comes together, I’ve made a video sharing the measurements on how it’s done:  (CLICK HERE to see the video on You Tube.)

During this time of the year when it’s pretty warm over my way, it’s sort of a nice thought to think about some snow!  Plus, it always nice to get a start on some Christmas too!  (It’s not necessary for the “Crafty Chefs” to use a Christmas theme…it can be anything.)

I hope you’ve been inspired by my project today and have learned something fun in my video with it too!  (I have even more interactive tutorials on my You Tube video channel if you’d like to see other ideas!)

Thanks so much for stopping in today friends and I’ll be seeing you again soon!

Peyton is Painting Eggs for Easter!

Hello there friends!  Where have I been?  Well, I went off looking for my “MOJO” and he’s doing some disappearing acts on me for sure!  I’m having such a hard time getting motivated and feel that my creative juices have completely dried out!  Do you ever feel this way too?  What are some things you have done to help you?  I will keep trying for now!  LOL!  So sorry for being MIA lately!

Today I must share with you a card I came up with using this really adorable image from Digi Doodle Studios just in time for Easter!

Vicki-DDSPayton-March13

Isn’t he adorable?!  This digital image is called Peyton’s Painted Eggs from DDS and he’s busy at work painting up eggs to get them done in time for Easter!  I’d say he looks like myself getting messy and into the job!  LOL!

After coloring him up, I used a MFT die to cut him out and create the layered frame around him with some purple glitterstock along with some black and white cardstock.  I white heat embossed a sentiment (from Simon Says Stamp) and cut it out with a banner die to go over the image panel.

I took some white ribbon and wrapped it around the corners and attached a bow on the top corner with a flower embellishment in the center…found in my stash.

Also “found in my stash” was the fence and grass dies that I used to attach to the bottom of the card front panel.  Some of the “grass” was placed behind the image panel and some in front of it.  I also attached in the center a strip of the purple glitterstock Lawn Fawn Spring Plaid paper for the front of the card and this was layered over another piece of black cardstock which was mounted over a top folding 5″ square white card base.

Vicki-DDSPayton-March13-close

Here you can see how I’ve got him all colored up with Copic markers.  He was actually really fun to color up.  My first notion was to make him a white bunny, but I thought he would really stand out if he was brown in color instead.  I added some blades of grass around him with my markers.

I left the egg he was in the process of painting white along with the plain one on the ground…after all, he IS in the process of working on them! LOL!

I’ve only used the white gel pen for his cheeks and  I’ve used a clear metallic gel pen on the paint brush.  The “shinny” areas you see on the “fresh paint” colors are the places that I’ve covered with glossy accents.  The light is naturally highlighting them!

Vicki-DDSPayton-March13-flat

I hope that you’ve enjoyed my Easter bunny card today and it’s helped get you in the mood thinking warm Spring thoughts!  I know I’m really looking forward to warmer weather and being outdoors for sure!  Easter is just around the corner now!

Raggedy Love

Happy Valentine’s Day my friends!!  Hope that you’re “feeling the love” and have a wonderful day today!

I wanted to share a card I made for Valentine’s Day.

Vicki-RaggedyLove

This really cute images is from Stamp On It called “Love You” digital stamp by QKR Stampede.  I wanted to try and keep to the “original” Raggedy Ann style of colors as I could, so I ended up Google searching for photos so that I could use that as a basis for my coloring.  I also thought that the rectangle die cut panels would go great for cutting her out with.

I sponged around the edges of the image panel with some blue distress ink, added some heart confetti pieces along with a white twine bow to the center of the heart.

Vicki-RaggedyLove-close

Taking a closer look at the image, you can see how dimensional those confetti hearts are.  There is actually a heart that prints out in the center of the “o” in the sentiment, but I decided to place one of those confetti hearts over it.

There is also some shimmer you can see in the heart with the bow that I’ve covered with a glitter brush pen.  And in coloring her in, I’ve added some extra “dots” on her blue dress and then I took a white gel pen to add a pattern on her red patch on the apron and then also to add some “stripes” to her socks and “dots” to her cheeks.

If you look at her eyes, I’ve taken a black gel pen which gives them a slight dimension and makes them stand out a bit more.

Vicki-RaggedyLove-flat

I really hope you’ve enjoyed my “Raggedy Love” card today and that you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day today!

Seally For You

Hello there friends!

There’s something brand new in the Digi Doodle Studios store this month and it’s just perfect for making an adorable Valentine’s Day or love themed card!  Check out this sweet card I’ve made for you today:

Vicki-DDSSeallyForYou

Aren’t these snow seals just the sweetest?!  I’ve used the brand new Pairables digital set called Seally for You from Digi Doodle Studios for my card here.

It’s really easy to create a scene on your computer with the images and then just print them out to color!  I have this cute couple arranged in a “Titanic” situation (If you’ve seen the movie, then you know what I’m referring to! LOL!)  on my scene here, but also have printed out a couple of extra hearts along with the fish and floating ice cube to fussy cut out and add to my scene later after assembling it.  The “water waves” that I’ve added to my scene is actually from the DDS Otterly Loves Pairables.  That is what is so cool about these Pairables sets, is that you can use the different elements together with another set to create some fun & unique scenes!

I used cut out vellum for the water and added another strip that I actually clear heat embossed the sentiment as it came out of the printer.  You can heat emboss over vellum as the ink stays wet a little longer after printing it out.  (Not for too long though!)

I added the colored up fish, hearts and ice cube to the design as well as sponged some soft pastel clouds with a stencil.  I was also trying to be different by tilting the image layer over the card.  The card front panel was embossed with a falling snow embossing folder, I wrapped some ribbon around the corner and attached this piece to an A2 sized top folding white card base.

Vicki-DDSSeallyForYou-close

I’ve colored the images with Copic markers.  You can see that I’ve fussy cut out the smaller heart and then popped up the top heart with foam tape.  I tucked the ice cube and one of the fish behind the vellum and then popped up the fish over the ice cube with foam tape.  I took one fish and attached next to the heat embossed sentiment.

You can also see the hearts long with the ice cube and ice platform that I’ve taken a glitter brush pen to add some shimmer to them.

Vicki-DDSSeallyForYou-flat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today or have been inspired to create your own fun digital scene to play with too!  Thanks so much for dropping by today and I’ll see you soon!

Just For You at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies

Hello friends!  It’s not only the weekend, but it’s also the first of February!  It’s what we call the “love dovey month”! LOL!  The first of the month also brings us a new challenge starting over at the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies blog!  It’s always an “ANYTHING GOES + ANIMAL” for your project each month.  We look forward to seeing your creations!

For this month we’re being sponsored by Jan’s Digi Stamps and here’s what I’ve come up with for my project:

Vicki-2CCC35-JansDigi-BlueRitz

Check out this dapper little penguin stepping out to hand his loved one a bouquet of flowers! 🙂  I’ve used the adorable Puttin’ On the Ritz digital set for my card here.  It had me at penguin! LOL!

I have pulled out some of those cool vintage looking papers from that SSS Valentine card kit that I had used earlier this week on my parent’s anniversary card and just loved the blue tones in them, so I went with that color scheme for my design!

The penguin was colored and fussy cut out.  The way he was positioned looked like he was popping right through an opening to hand out the flowers, so I’ve used some circle die cuts with more of the vintage papers for the background and tucked him in there with his foot and flowers outside the circle frame.  I’ve placed a silver doily behind him.

The base of the card measures 5″ square, I’ve taken a couple of strips of the papers and layered them over a white card panel that I’ve sanded the edges on before mounting it over the blue card base.  I took some seam binding ribbon to wrap around it and then attached the circle panel to the front with a bow and candy heart accent over top.

The sentiment was printed out from the same stamp set and cut out and layered with a heart die set.  I’ve also sponged around the edges of the white heart with grey ink.

Vicki-2CCC35-JansDigi-BlueRitz-close

Here’s a close view of the image and how I’ve got him all colored up with Copic markers.  I’ve used a white gel pen for dots on his cheeks as well as dots around the flowers.  Sometimes those bouquet of roses have the baby’s breath with them…for some reason I think it makes the bouquet look extra special!

For part of the penguin’s “cane” or “umbrella”…not sure, I’ve used a silver metallic gel pen to color in parts of it.

I kept his hands white as I felt like he was wearing white gloves.  LOL.

Vicki-2CCC35-JansDigi-BlueRitz-flat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my fancy little love penguin card today and have been inspired!

Thanks so much for stopping in!

Working in a Winter Kit!

Hello friends!  If you live around my area, then you know that it’s in full swing Winter Weather time!  We do have snowflakes in the forecast for tomorrow, but hopefully it’s not too bad!

So while we’re thinking of snow, I thought this would be a great time to share with you all of the winter style cards I’ve made using a brand new subscription card kit that I’ve got going from Pink and Main.  So grab a cup of your favorite beverage and enjoy some crafty winter inspiration!

So my first card kit from Pink and Main was the December 2019 Winter Wonderland Crafty Courtyard Box which is no longer available, but they have this month’s box out which I will I get soon!  Here’s what I’ve made for the December box:

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-set

Yeah, I know!  That’s a lot of cards, right?!  I was surprised myself how many cards I was creating from this kit and I could’ve just kept going as I still have plenty of supplies left!  I needed to make a few more cards to send out after Christmas for the ones I missed and send out thank yous…so this came in handy actually!

P.S.  Every single one of these cards were completed with an envelope too!  (So far so good on my New Year’s Resolution! Yay!)

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card6

My first card here is a “see through” design using acetate for the center of the design.  I have used a Bold Snowflake die from Pink and Main NOT included in the kit, but overlayed it with another foam snowflake and button that WAS included in the kit.

I stamped snowflakes from the stamp set in the kit and added some “dots” with Stickles over the design too.

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card2

This card was pretty simple, but I love it!  I’ve used the sentiment die that was included in the kit and die cut it with the sparkle cardstock from the kit as well as the pretty snowflake papers.  All I did was stamp 3 snowflakes and added another dot of Stickles to the centers.  I chomped the corners at the bottom and done!

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card1

For this particular card, I’ve decided to make a ‘Z-fold’ card design and if you’d like to know the measurements and/or how to see one put together, then please check out my video tutorial on it here – “Coffee Style Z-fold Gift Card Holder“.

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card1A

This is how the card folds closed.  It folds down to an A2 size.  I love how the colors look on this one!  Everything on this card except for the greeting on the inside was from the kit.

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card4

So I wanted to use lots of those papers from the paper pad included with the kit and they were double sided so I had even more choices to deal with! LOL!  I decided to make square panels for my layout and use those sparkly silver snowflakes from the kit to place over top.  I heat embossed the sentiment from the stamp set at the bottom.

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card7

This card was just destined to be a square design.  I wanted to use my Reverse Scallop Square dies from Pink and Main for this one.  I’ve also used papers from the kit as well as the silver sparkle paper and snowflake.  I took a snowflake embossing folder fort he background.  I used sequins from the kit and filled the centers with more of that silver Stickles.  (I got a bit of the prop  over my sentiment there.  LOL!)

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card3

I wasn’t finished using that “Reverse Scallop Square” die set, so I took it to die cut some embossed snowflakes and layer them over some of the papers from the kit.  The middle of the card has a strip of the awesome translucent tape included in the kit.  I covered the middle of the snowflakes with a rhinestone and pop up the embossed sentiment with foam tape over the tape.

Vicki-PMCCboxDec2019-card5

And this last one was hubby’s favorite. I took the largest image from the stamp set in the kit and heat embossed it over a watercolor panel.   Then I took some Distress Oxide ink spritzed with water over a glass mat and brushed them over it and splattered some with with a brush as well.  I die cut the sentiment from the die included in the kit with the sparkle paper in the kit and finished the design with more sequins filled with Silver Stickles.

I had “SNOW” much fun with this kit and creating these cards!  I hope you’ve enjoyed it as well and have been inspired in some way!!

Thanks so much for stopping in and I enjoy seeing what you have say!  I loved reading all of your New Year’s resolutions and NOT resolutions too! LOL!!

I’ll see you again soon my friends! 🙂

Falling in Love With Wintertime Penguins!

Hello friends!  We are now past Christmas and getting ready for a New Year, but soon the feeling of love will be in the air!  So I thought I’d start that off with something that I personally love, which you might know, are those cute penguins!

Vicki-DDSWintertimePenguins-SnowMelt

And of course you’ve already seen me use this super fun Wintertime Penguins Pairables set from Digi Doodle Studios in a couple of different ways, but this time I’ve added the hearts above his head and sentiment from the same set to make this a “lovey dovey” style card!

I kept the colors in pink and red to go with Valentine’s Day, but you could easily make this a wonderful anniversary or “any day” card for your favorite love penguin as well!  LOL!

So I grabbed some fun papers from my stash with both pink snowflakes and red/pinkish hearts paper for my 5″ top folding white base card that I layered the turquoise colored cardstock over and then applied the papers to.  I embossed some hearts on the middle strip with a piece of white cardstock and then rubbed some turquoise colored ink lightly over them.  I layered that strip onto a piece of turquoise cardstock again and then wrapped some white/clear metallic ribbon with a bow over it before attaching it down.

The sentiment was printed out from this cute set with the penguin and then I just used a banner die to cut it out with and attach to the front of the card.

I added the penguin image that was die cut and layered with some stitched and scallop circle dies.  I’ve used some craft foam to pop it up over the center, then added a heart button with twine in the center of the bow.  Lastly, I’ve added a couple of snowflake sequins and some liquid pearl “dots” randomly over the card.

Here’s a closer look at this cutie and how I’ve got him colored up with my Copic markers.  I’ve used a white gel pen to dot his cheeks and then I took a glitter brush pen (Spectrum Noir) and covered the hearts above his head as well as the “snowy” ground under his feet for a bit of shimmer.
