Now how adorable are these little cuties?!!  This is the newly released digital stamp called Crateful of Kittens from Whimsy Stamps.  I have also paired it with the newly released Oh Boy – Digital Papers.  I thought that the solid yellow and gingham would work nicely with this image to give it a happy feel!  For the sentiment I’ve used the Whimsy Stamps Bold Statements clear stamp set to stamp over some of the yellow solid paper and made my own fishtail banner with it.

I’ve added some white ribbon with a bow to go around the yellow papers and then attached it to an A2 sized white top folding card base.  For the banner, I’ve added a white daisy flower and placed a rhinestone in the center that I’ve colored yellow with a Y17 Copic Marker.

Here’s a closer look for you on how I’ve colored up this image!  I’ve used a stitched square die to cut the image out with and additional die to layer some of the solid yellow digital papers behind it.  For the background of the image panel, I’ve used a cloud stencil and very lightly inked some clouds in the background.  I added some sparkle to the center of the flowers on the image with a glue pen and clear loose glitter.  I’ve also added some dots to their cheeks with a white gel pen.

Here are the Copics I’ve used to color with:

  1.  wooden crate:  E23, E25, E27, 0-blender
  2. Flowers, leaves, grass:  Y11, Y15, Y17, YG61, YG63, YG67, G20, G21, G24
  3. Kitties:  C1, C3, C5, E41, E43, E44, R20 (cheeks), W1, W3, W5

Hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today and see you soon!

The Feeling of Happy Mail

Hello friends!  Back with you again today to share another Whimsy Stamps digital “pretty”!  If you missed my Guest Design post for the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog, please click on the link or scroll down below this post. – thank you

You all know the feeling you get when you receive “happy mail” from the mailbox, and I think this cute image on my card today really sums up that feeling:

Vicki-WS-Pretty Girl Happy Mail- Oct 9

I have used the brand-new October digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps called “Pretty Girl Happy Mail” on my card today.  Oh those curly locks are adorable!

I have colored her in with my Copic markers in the following:

  1.  Coat/hat (darker tone) – R85, R83, R81 and for trimming – E11, E00, E000 (also coat fasteners)
  2. Coat/hat (fur) – W5, W3, W1 and highlighted with white gel pen flicks.
  3. Hair – E47, E43, E42 (eyebrows too)
  4. Skin – E21, E11, E00, E000, R20, R00 (eyes BG49)
  5. Mail – B00, B000 (unsure of tiny bit of color on postage stamp or coat fastener centers and string)

I then took a retired Whimsy Stamps clear set called “Handmade From Me” which had a couple of tiny solid hearts in it, and I took some pink colored ink to stamp a few hearts around the girl.  She really loves all her mail after all! 🙂

I cut her out with a stitched circle die and then mounted her over a piece of silver foil cardstock cut with a scallop stitched circle die.  I have used the same stamp set that I’ve mentioned above to heat emboss the sentiment with silver EP and cut it out with a banner die cut.  This is the same-colored cardstock I’ve used for the A2 sized top folding card base too.

The snowflake paper is from my stash and some I’ve been hoarding because I love it so much, but the snowflakes on it are silver metallic and have the texture on it as if it was heat embossed.  I placed this panel over my card base, attached the banner and then added the circle image panel over top of that including some craft foam to raise it up slightly over the design.

I was thinking that this image would work for either Christmas, winter or Valentine’s Day.  Yes, I know, I said the V word already!! Oops!

Here’s a closer view of the coloring that I’ve done on her as well as the heat embossing.  Had so much fun coloring her up.  I think she especially looks wonderful on such a simple style design!

Thanks so much for stopping in and sharing your thoughts with me!  I appreciate that so much!  See you soon!

I’m Joining a Critter Challenge Design Team!

Hello friends!  Welcome to October!  There are so many fun and exciting things yet to come this month and I’m thinking it will probably fly right by me!  But first, this exciting news is something that I will share with you first!

I have been invited to join the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge blog as a design team member and I’m truly honored to be crafting alongside several of my blog friends already on the team!  Thanks so much for welcoming me to this wonderful team! 🙂  If you are not already familiar with this challenge blog, please stop by and check it out!  Obviously you must use a critter on your creation (any crafty style make), plus it’s an always “anything goes” as long as you use a critter and you have an entire month to enter!  Of course I am a huge critter fan and love using those type of images on my creations…so I hope you’ll come along and play! – The challenges are always the very 1st of each month.

So for my creation this month, I have used a gorgeous image kindly provided by our sponsor:

Vicki-2CCC-Ching-Chou Kuik

I have used Flutter Butterflies Grey Scale digital image from Ching-Chou Kuik on my card for today.  for this image, I decided to pull out my case of Prisma pencils to color it in as I thought it would be a good one to practice with.  Including the background, I’ve colored the entire panel with pencils.  It took some time to do the blending and such, but it was very therapeutic, and I enjoyed the process of it.  I used a white gel pen for a few highlights in areas on the butterflies.  (Some of it was also from a white pencil.)

I cut out the colored panel with a stitched rectangle die and mounted it onto a black scallop rectangle panel that I’ve popped up with craft foam.  I’ve also added a kraft doily that I’ve cut in half on both the top and bottom of the panel.  I found some pretty black and ivory design paper to mount her on.  I took some sparkly black ribbon to go across that paper and then mounted it all over a top folding A2 sized black card base.

Lastly, I’ve cut out some extra butterflies in black cardstock to accent my image panel and then I’ve added some clear glitter Stickles along the edges of the image panel to finish it off.  I really wanted the image to be the main focal of this especially since I spent so much time in the coloring.

Here’s a closer look at the image and coloring:

Looking at this photo, I also added some shimmer to the colored butterflies with a Spectrum Noir clear glitter brush pen.  Sometimes you have to angle it just right to capture the shimmer on it.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  See you soon!

Living in the Wild Wild West

Hello friends!  I hope that you are having a great weekend so far!

I’m stopping by to share my Whimsy Stamps creation that I made for my posting on the WS Inspiration Blog.  It’s my first post as a Whimsy Stamps digital DT over there, but I’m also posting on my own blog, here, for my readers and in case someone would like more details about my card design. 🙂

I have to say that I have been enjoying my coloring with these digital images since I’ve joined the DT.  It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve made cards like this for some reason and the feeling, I once had doing this is starting to come back, so I’m glad to be a part of the team!

A horse is a horse of course of course, but this one took on a different “spot” when coloring it.  I have used this month’s release Western Pony digital stamp for my card:

Vicki-WS-blogpostAug25-WesternPony

The inspiration for coloring in this horse came from this month’s release of digital papers called Animal Prints.  The spotted papers reminded me of the appaloosa breed of horse and so I took my coloring inspiration from there.  I found a photo online to help with some of the coloring details:

1280px-Appaloosa_stallion

It’s hard to see in the photo, but there are just a couple of spots of the brown/tan color in this horse.  I decided to add just a bit more brown/tan spots on mine.

I’ve added some coordinating card stock for the accents which helped bring out the colors in the horse too!  As you can see in my layout, I took a strip of those Animal Prints papers and layered it with a piece of black cardstock and wrapped some twine around it.  I attached it over some other Whimsy Stamps digital papers called Ahoy, There from a past release.  (Although the theme doesn’t suggest to use it for this type of card, I thought it complimented the overall design and brought out the blue colors from the blanket under the saddle.)

I took a paper pierce tool and added some stitching details around the image as well as the blue card front papers before attached it all down.  The image panel and card stock layer were rounded with a corner chomper.

Because it’s a digital image that comes with 2 separate images, you can use them together or not and resize them how you’d like.  So I printed the hat separately and then popped it up over the image panel to make it look as if it’s flying off in the wind.

I’ve added a silver foil star that I die cut from the Whimsy Stamps Pierced Stars die set, wrapped some twine around it and placed a bow with a button over top.  Lastly, I white heat embossed a sentiment under the image panel on a banner with the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiment Clear stamp set.

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve colored it:

Vicki-WS-blogposAug25-WesternPony-close

I’ve colored this image mainly with Copic markers and then took a white pencil to add a couple of highlights in the mane and tail.  I took my Copics to create the blades of grass and shadow for the ground.  There are also places on the harness and saddle that I’ve used a glitter gel pen for a metal look.

I think this sort of reminds me of a Western Sheriff with the star! LOL!  Thinking of that made me think this would be a fun card for a kid.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today!  If you haven’t stopped by the Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Blog to follow along, you might want to hop on over there to subscribe so you can get lots of inspiration using the Whimsy Stamps products along with information on new releases too!
