Thinking of You with Fleur

Hello friends!  I hope that you had a lovely weekend!  Here we are with the last week of May already and Summer is showing itself in many ways right now.  I do love seeing the flowers everyone has been sharing posts of with their yards full of blooms coming up everywhere!

Today I have this card using a cute Whimsy Stamps Digital stamp:

Vicki-Fleur-May28

This cutie was released this month by CC Designs called “Fleur“.  (Be sure to check out May’s Digital Release by CLICKING HERE if you haven’t yet!)  Be sure to stop back by on Saturday to check out June’s release too!

I just love the ring of flowers in her hair!  I’ve actually printed her out twice so that I could cut a few extra flowers to add to the accents of my design!

For my card, I’ve taken a panel from the Rustic Woods and Brick digital papers and used that for the background of my design.  I took a marker and added some dash marks for a stitch look.  I added this piece to a 5″ square top folding suede card base which I sponged around the edges with some white ink.  I did the same for the die cut fence panels and the circle layer behind the image.

I’ve taken a piece of decorative paper from my stash and sponged some ink around it and also wrapped some ogandy ribbon around it before attaching to the card front base.  I then die cut some grass to go over my fence border.  My image was cut with a stitched circle die and sponged around the edges with the same ink as the decorative paper.  This was layered over top of the suede circle panel and these were popped up with some craft foam.  I’ve added the bow and the cut out flowers from the extra printed out image and then I’ve added a flower gem in the center of the bow.  Each flower including the ones on the image were filled with some Nuvo Honey Gold Glitter Drops.  I stamped a sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiments clear stamp set with the same suede color ink.

Here’s a closer look at the coloring on this image.  I’ve used the following Copic colors to color her in with: (Click on the underlined numbers to view/purchase from Whimsy Stamps)

  • Hair – Y00 (used for base), Y11, YR21, YR24, YR27
  • Skin – E21, E11, E00, E000, R20

  • Flowers – BG000, BG10
  • White gel pen used for cheeks and around hair flowers
  • Ground/shadow – C1, E0000

You can also see the details from the Nuvo Glitter Drops that I’ve used in the center of the flowers including the one in the center of the bow.

Hello friends!  Happy Memorial Day and I hope you’ve been having a great weekend!  I would like to take a moment on this day to stop and give thank you and remembrance to all of the U.S.  service men and women who’ve served our country.  Your service will never be forgotten.

I am very excited to share a card I made wtih an image that the sweet lady, Christine, sent me to play with from the Paper Nest Dolls!  (CLICK HERE for Digital.)  I’m sharing my card as a Guest Designer for her and I’m thrilled to be apart of it with her adorable images!  Be sure to follow along and check out their blog for lots of inspiration too!

Vicki-PDMermaid Ellie Seahorse

I am using this CUTE image called Mermaid Ellie with Seahorse for my card.  (CLICK HERE for digital format.)  Isn’t that little seahorse she has her arm around adorable?!  She was so much fun to color too!

There is just so much shimmer/shine and sparkle on this…so I hope I can capture it all for you!  For the card, I’ve used the Tonic Basic Oval dies to cut her out with, but I’ve used the “Out of the Box” technique and cut out her tail before cutting the rest of the oval.  You can see in the photo below how I’ve slightly curled her tail upwards.

The background of the card was done with a stencil and ink blending.  I thought it was so fun as it reminded me of the scales!  I cut this piece out with a square stitched rectangle die and then layered a piece of aqua colored mirrored cardstock that I’ve also used as an oval layer behind the mermaid image as well as a strip at the bottom.

For the strip at the bottom, I’ve wrapped around some linen thread and tied a bow with it.  I’ve also wrapped around some ribbon to the layered stencil and mirror cardstock panels and then attached them to a 5″ square top folding card base.

I’ve taken a sentiment and heat embossed it with some “Mermaid Tail” EP and cut it out with a word banner die and sponged around the edges of it which I slipped under the first layer of the oval cut mermaid.  I’ve added some burlap and a few of the sea shell sequins behind the oval image panel and popped her up along with the sentiment banner with some foam tape.  Lastly, I added some half-back pearls randomly over the design.

Here’s a closer view of the image and all of the shimmer and sparkle details.  I’ve colored her up in the following Copic markers:

  • hair – 100, W9, W7, W5, W3, W1
  • Mermaid shells – BG13, BG10 (covered with glitter brush pen)
  • Mermaid Tail – YG25, YG13, YG11, BG000 (pointillism with darkest and blender 0 and also green and white gel pens.  The fin at the end was also covered with a glitter brush pen.)
  • Mermaid Skin – E21, E11, E02, E00, E000, R20
  • Seahorse – V17, V15, V12, R11, R00, R000 (pointillism with V colors and blender 0)
  • Shading – BG000

Vicki-PDMermaid Ellie Seahorse-flat

It’s hard to see it from the other angles of the card, but it looks like the sentiment heat embossed with “Mermaid Tail” shows more of the shimmer in it as well as the ribbon.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and please be sure to stop by the Paper Nest Dolls website and check out these adorable images!  Please let Christine know that I sent you over there!

Cute Card Thursday is Square

Hello friends!  It’s “Hip to be Square”, right?!  That’s what the theme of this week’s new challenge is over at Cute Card Thursday!  So please hop on over and check out the inspiration and play along with us!  Here’s the card I’ve made for the challenge:

Vicki-CCT583-square

What better card to make than one for a crafty friend! 🙂   I’ve used a past Simon Says Stamp card kit from February 2018 for this one.  I thought that I would carry the “square” theme throughout the design. – It’s great to pull out past kits and have a play with them!

The stamp set is called SSS Crafty Friends (Still available) and I’ve randomly stamped some of the images on a vanilla colored cardstock and then cut out each one with a stitched square die cut.  I’ve also used the same die to cut out a square piece of decorative paper contained in the kit which also has a colorful square pattern on it.

For the paint pallete image as well as the tube of paint panels, I took some of the watercolor provided in the kit and added it for some color with a water brush.  I took some twine and wrapped it around the top left panel with the hearts and sentiment and then placed the bow over top.  I then added the scissors wood veneer over top which was also included in the kit.  The turquoise colored cardstock base and squared layered panels also came from the kit as well.

Vicki-CCT583-square-close

Here’s an even closer look at the different squared panels .  You can better see the watercolor over the panels as well as the turquoise colored Nuvo Glitter Drops that I’ve added to the paint tube on the bottom panel.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my “SQUARE” card and I look forward to seeing your creations in the gallery this week too!  Be sure to stop by the Cute Card Thursday blog and take a look at the rest of the inspiration from the design team!

Thanks so much for dropping in!  I’ll see you soon!

Fairy Princess Bunny With a Pocket!

Hello friends!  Hope you have enjoyed your weekend.  Yay!  We are finally getting some decent weather to be outside in!  It’s been rainy and chilly for a while, so it’s been nice to see some sun the last few days!

Today I have this really sweet image to share from Whimsy Stamps May Digital release and a fun extra added element with it!

Vicki-PC Fairy Princess Bunny Tag

I have made a tag using this really sweet Pollycraft image from Whimsy Stamps called Fairy Princess Bunny.  Isn’t she so sweet?!  I found some pretty papers to go with her and placed it over a purchased kraft colored tag that I sponged some white ink around the edges.

After placing the papers where I wanted them and trimming it down, I also attached a lace trim on each end of the papers over the tag.  The papers also had a bunch of sentiments included in the pack, so I added the circle sentiment to the tag and then die cut a kraft piece to layer behind it.  I also added some flowers and the ribbon at the top and then finished it off with some clear sequins.

Vicki-PC Fairy Princess Bunny Tag-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring I’ve done on tihs cutie.  I’ve used Copic Markers to color her in with using the following markers:  (You can find these HERE at Whimsy Stamps.)

  • Dress, shirt, shoes, socks – B37, B34, B32, B01, B00, B000
  • Bunny, bunny ears – R11, R00, R000, C3, C1, C0
  • Wings – R00, R000, E000, BG000
  • Hair – YR30, E41, E43, E44, V95
  • Skin – E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R00
  • Grass – G24, G21, G20
  • I used gel pens to make dots on wings and color in the crowns on the girl and bunny heads.  I also used a Wink of Stella glitter pen to go over the wings

After I colored her in, I cut her out from a circle stitched scallop die and then sponged around the image with a cloud stencil and distress ink.  I also sponged around the edges of the scallop circle with another color of distress ink and mounted her over the tag with a piece of craft foam behind her.

Vicki-PC Fairy Princess Bunny Tag-otherside

So when you flip the tag over, you can see that I’ve made a little pocket with the same papers I’ve used on the front of the tag.  I thought this would be a cute way to give out a gift card to your “Fairy Princess”.  The tag happens to be the perfect size for adding a pocket for a gift card to fit into.

Bubble Bath Beauty

Hello friends!  Yes, I’m still here!  I was hoping to share some photos with you of my crafty retreat and what I was teaching, but when I got home I had some other troubles to deal with and didn’t get a chance to make a post for it, but I will  hopefully get to it this week so you can see what was happening!  LOTS of fun stuff!! 🙂

Today, I have a silly kitty card to share with you today:

Vicki-Bath Cat-May7

Oh my, that face just really cracks me up!!  It’s been several years since I have ever had to give a cat a bath, but I believe that’s pretty much how they feel about water in general.  I have used this Whimsy Stamps digital image called Bath Cat by Crissy Armstong.  (It was preciously released as a rubber cling stamp, but now you can also get it in digital format if you prefer that!)

I started out my card with a piece of white cardstock and clear heat embossed several of the solid circle images from the Whimsy Stamps Circles Circles Circles clear stamp set.  I then took a few of the distress ink colors and blended them over the heat embossed circles.  The ink resisted those and then I spritzed it with some water and dapped it with a paper towel for water dropplets.  I heat embossed the sentiment with white EP and cut it out in a banner to attach over my background.

The circle inked background was corner chomped on two of the corners and then I placed it over a blue A2 sized top folding card base which I also corner chomped the same two corners on that as well.  I then added the image panel and popped it up over some craft foam to attach to the front of the card.  I then cut off the edge of the circle with my scissors and lastly added some clear sequins to the design.

Vicki-Bath Cat-close-May7

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on the kitty.  I’ve used the following Copics to color him in with:  (You can purchase Copic markers at Whimsy Stamps by Clicking HERE.)

  • Kitty – W7, W5, W3, W1, R11, R00
  • Bathtub – B24, B21
  • Bubbles – BG000
  • Duckie – Y17, Y15, Y13

After I cut the image out with a circle die, I sponged around the edges of it with some of the distress ink I used on the background.  I used a Wink of Stella glitter pen on some of the bubbles and then used some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops on the water drops.

Vicki-Bath Cat-flat-May7

This one gave me a chuckle and sometimes even when you are feeling yucky, you just want someone to tell you that you are beautiful!

Thanks for dropping in today!  I’ll see you again soon!

2 Crafty Critter Crazies – You are my Happy

Hello friends!!  Happy April Fool’s Day! 🙂

Well there’s “no fooling” here today as I bring you a post to share the creation I’ve made for a new challenge over at the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge Blog!  Since it’s the first of April, we have a brand new challenge starting with the “Anything Goes + critter” theme in mind!  Hope you will join us with your critter creations!

We are being sponsored by Digi Doodle Studios and this is the card I made for the challenge this month:

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia

Our sponsor was kind enough to share this very sweet image called Mia which I’ve used for my card today.  This is my first experience with these images and I must say they have some really cute ones in their store, so hop on over and check them out!

I’ve colored her up with Copic markers including drawing extended lines for the grass and coloring it up all the way across and down.  I cut it out with a cross stitched rectangle die and then used a sun ray stencil to ink some yellow behind  her by taping off the grass edge so I didn’t get any on that part.  I then stamped the sentiment in black ink over top of that.

To continue on with the yellow color theme I’ve got going on, I cut out a piece of yellow glitter cardstock that was cut out with a scallop rectangle die (retired from Lawn Fawn) and attached it to the back of the image panel.  I took some plaid papers for the bottom portion of the A2 white top folding card base and then attached some yellow grosgrain ribbon across the top and then attached the image panel and then added a yellow ribbon bow along the edge.  Lastly I finished it out with some yellow rhinestone crystals.

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on the image.  I took a black gel pen to color in the eyeballs circles.  I wasn’t sure how to go about coloring the eyes, but this is the way that made the most sense to me.  I also went around the edges of the butterfly with the black gel pen.  I took a glitter brush pen and went over the liquid in her cup.

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia-flat

I have to add that this image really got me thinking about past memories with my sweet little Mocca and how we would go out on nice Spring days like this.  She certainly was always “my happy” for sure and I still miss her like crazy.  I’m sure any of you that have lost pets understand what I’m saying.   It’s great to have the memories we’ve shared after all this time!

Please be sure to hop on over to the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies blog and check out the rest of the inspiration from the design team and play along with us this month!  Looking forward to seeing your critter creations!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I appreciate it so much!

Thinking of Tulips With Whimsy Stamps

Hello friends!  I’m here!  In case you were seeing nothing on my blog or something weird going on within the last day, I appologize!  I was messing with something and pretty much should have left things alone!  I think we are all back now and everything is good!  Whew!  (Don’t worry, I won’t be doing that again!)  I guess I thought I was savvy with tech things, but it turns out, I’m not!  Ha!

So now that I’ve got things back to normal, I can share my card with you this evening!

Vicki-WSTulip-March19

This is one of the adorable March digital releases from Whimsy Stamps called Tulip by CC Designs.  She was so fun to color and I was thinking about tulips the entire time I was coloring her up!  Tulips are my favorite flower and I have a brick foundation with little buds of daffodils and tulips coming up!  Of course this makes me excited about Spring and the warm weather we are starting to get!!  (Hopefully I will be able to share photos of how they come up soon!)

Whimsy Stamps has also released some really cool digital papers that I’ve used for the background of my card here called Rustic Wood and Brick Collection.  (Reminds me of my brick foundation where the flowers are coming up!)  I have also used a retired Whimsy Stamps die set called “Garden Flowers” that happened to have a tulip in it, so I cut several in white cardstock to go along the bottom of the card.  I also took one and inked it up in the colored I’ve used on my image and tied an additional thread bow at the top of it.

The sentiment on the bottom of the image panel comes from the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiments clear stamp set.  I white heat embossed it and then cut out with the Whimsy Stamps Quick Strips die set.  I used a MFT stitched scallop die to cut out the image from and layered her with some red cardstock.  Before I added the blue ribbon, I attached the piece of black cardstock where my layered image panel would go and wrapped it around the brick background.  I then added a white button with a linen thread bow in the center of that.  (This is what I used on the colored tulip.)  All of these layers were then mounted onto an A2 sized top folding white card base.

Vicki-WSTulip-March19-close
