It’s Christmas at Cute Card Thursday!

Well here we are friends!  Happy Halloween!!!   I hope whatever your plans are that you have a safe and wonderful evening!  I also hope the little trick-or-treaters don’t get too cold this year with the snow over my way!

Well, although it’s Halloween today, we are having a “Christmas” theme going on this week at the Cute Card Thursday Challenges!  So if you’re all packed up from making Halloween, then this would be a great time to start working on your Christmas makes for the year!  We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Here’s the card I made for the challenge:

Vicki-CCT606

Isn’t this image just beautiful?!  I was so happy to pull out this stamp… finally and color it up for a Christmas card!  This was my purchase during STAMPtember from Paper Rose.  I had never heard of this company before that time, so this was the stamp set/die combo I picked to get as I fell in love with it.

I stamped the large image over a piece of Copic Blending Card and then stamped the sentiment from the set right underneath it.  Colored with Copics and then trimmed it down to fit over my card front.  I layered this panel onto a piece of brushed gold cardstock and then a piece of red.

For the card base, I took the two pine sprigs from the stamp set and randomly stamped them over a kraft colored A2 sized top folding card base.  I used the same ink color to stamp them with and then used that color to sponge around my image panel before attaching all the layers together.

Vicki-CCT606-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring I’ve done over the image.  Although the brushed gold cardstock is a bit muted, you can see the slight shimmer in it.

I’ve taken a Copic marker and done some random “dots” all around the flowers.  I’ve also used a gold gel pen to color the center of the flowers as well as add some more “dots” around the poinsettias.

For the “berries” within the branches, I’ve added some Nuvo Morning Dew Drops which dries clear over them.  This would be the only dimension on my card which makes it nice and flat for mailing.

Vicki-CCT606-flat

I’m actually really happy to add another Christmas card onto my pile for this year and I have many places to send cards to, so I know I will be making more!

Thanks so much for joining me here today and I’ll be seeing you again soon!

Spots and Dots for Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  Hope you’re having a great week so far.  The month of October is flying right through and I know once Halloween gets here, it will be the end of the year before we know it!

Today starts a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday this week!  We are looking for “Spots and Dots” on your creations this time!  We look forward to seeing your take on this one!

For my card, I decided to keep it rather simple:

Vicki-CCT604

This card is using items from the Simon Says Stamp Sweet Birthday Limited Edition card kit which has since been sold out, but I know that you can still purchase a few of the items that were included in the kit.

I started out by taking the SSS Celebrate stencil from the kit and spread on some Deco Foil Transfer Gel over a white piece of cardstock from the kit and let it completely dry before moving on.  After it was dry, I took the Rainbow Shattered Glass transfer foil sheet and put it through my laminator.  It looks so pretty and shinny with a wow factor to it!  I cut this piece down and layered it over a black scallop square die cut panel.  I then layered these pieces over the green colored Tim Holtz Metallic paper from the kit.

For the square card, I used a black top folding 4.25″ black card base and then layered another piece of that green metallic paper over it.  I took a ‘dotted’ piece of paper from the Honey Bee Over the Rainbow papers (included in the kit) and layered it over top of the metallic green.  Then I added my foiled balloons panel over this.

Lastly, I took the sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Sweet Birthday stamp set and white heat embossed it over a piece of black cardstock that I trimmed down to a banner and popped up over the card with some foam tape.

Vicki-CCT604-flat

I really didn’t want to add too much more to it as it was for a male and I think with all of that foil and shine, it really didn’t need much else!  I think it’s fun, simple and really cheery looking especially with that foiling done.

I know that I’m getting this fun kit out again very soon as I am in need of another birthday card to send to someone that needs a good birthday cheer!

Challenges:

  1.  Pammie’s Inky Pinkies – PIP1941 Anything Goes
  2. Crafty Cardmakers – Sparkle
  3. Through the Craft Room Door – Anything Goes
  4. A Bit More Time to Craft – Anything Goes
  5. Watercooler Wednesday – WWC243 Masculine Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping in and sharing a bit of myself with you!  Wishing you a beautiful day friends!

Cute Card Thursday is Sentimental

Hello friends!  Hope you’re having a great week so far!

Today starts a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and the theme for this week is “Sentimental“.  We look forward to seeing your interpretation with your creations for this challenge!

Here’s how I’ve interpretated the challenge this week:

Vicki-CCT601-Sentimental

I really love sentiment stamps and sometimes they just seem to get used when you need to add a sentiment with your design.  I actually like to use them as not only the focal point of a design, but I like to also use them for backgrounds!

For my card today, I have used an older Simon Says Stamp card kit. (Nov 2016)  I really loved the font and the wording in this set and the different sizes that you can mix together.  The images are from the SSS Thankful Heart stamp set.

I started by stamping two of the images from the set with white ink over the A2 sized top folding card base and then added some papers from the card kit on the bottom portion.  I took a piece of white twine around the center of the card and added a button and bow.

The heart was die cut from a piece of cardstock from the kit with a stitched heart die and then I white heat embossed the sentiment and added some craft foam behind it before attaching it to the card.  I’ve also added a couple of hearts that were cut from white cardstock.

Very simple card, but a good one to have on hand for someone!  I hope you’ve enjoyed it and please be sure to join along with us this week!

Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you soon!

Challenges:

  1.  Double D – Focus on the Sentiment
  2. Aud Sentiments – Anything Goes + Sentiment
  3. Retro Rubber – rrcb120 – Anything Goes + stamps older than 1 year (circa 2016)
  4. Shopping Our Stash – embossing
  5. Sweet Stampers – Use a Sentiment
  6. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes

Cute Card Thursday is Square

Hello friends!  It’s “Hip to be Square”, right?!  That’s what the theme of this week’s new challenge is over at Cute Card Thursday!  So please hop on over and check out the inspiration and play along with us!  Here’s the card I’ve made for the challenge:

Vicki-CCT583-square

What better card to make than one for a crafty friend! 🙂   I’ve used a past Simon Says Stamp card kit from February 2018 for this one.  I thought that I would carry the “square” theme throughout the design. – It’s great to pull out past kits and have a play with them!

The stamp set is called SSS Crafty Friends and I’ve randomly stamped some of the images on a vanilla-colored cardstock and then cut out each one with a stitched square die cut.  I’ve also used the same die to cut out a square piece of decorative paper contained in the kit which also has a colorful square pattern on it.

For the paint pallet image as well as the tube of paint panels, I took some of the watercolor provided in the kit and added it for some color with a water brush.  I took some twine and wrapped it around the top left panel with the hearts and sentiment and then placed the bow over top.  I then added the scissors wood veneer over top which was also included in the kit.  The turquoise-colored cardstock base and squared layered panels also came from the kit as well.

Vicki-CCT583-square-close

Here’s an even closer look at the different squared panels.  You can better see the watercolor over the panels as well as the turquoise colored Nuvo Glitter Drops that I’ve added to the paint tube on the bottom panel.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my “SQUARE” card today!

Thanks so much for dropping in!  I’ll see you soon!

Tie a Bow for Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  Here we are at another Thursday already!  Where does this time thing go?!  I’m trying to embrace Spring for as long as possible.

Today starts a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and this week we’d like to see your “Tie a Bow” creations!  I am a huge fan of ribbon and have WAY too much that I could never possibly use it all in my life time!  LOL!  How about you?  Do you have a big ribbon stash too?

Vicki-CCT581-ADU

So does it feel like we are at the salon?  She’s fashioning her “new do” which I think would be so fun to go have a spa day with mom or your favorite female person, right?!

The sponsor for this week’s challenge over at Cute Card Thursday is All Dressed Up Stamps and I have used this cute image from the store called “New Hair Do” for my card today.  Now although she does already have a bow tied to her hair, I thought this was a good opportunity for me to pull out some of my ribbon and actually tie a bow!  I thought this image would make for a wonderful feminine/Mother’s Day card too.

I started out by white heat embossing a piece of purple cardstock with a Simon Says Stamp Background stamp called Flower Explosion.  The sentiment on the black banner was also white heat embossed and placed over the design right above the “mom” sentiment that was die cut with silver mirror cardstock.  I layered the purple embossed panel over a piece of black cardstock.

I ran a piece of white organdy ribbon around the two layers and then added the oval cut image panels onto the card front.  I added the tied bow with the organdy ribbon off to the right side and then layered another bow I tied with some silver cord and then topped that with a pearl accent.  All of these layered were attached to a 5″ square white top folding card base.

Vicki-CCT581-ADU-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring of the image.  I’ve used Copic markers to color her in with and brushed some Wink of Stella over her bow.  (Which is hard to see of course!)  I’ve also taken some tiny pearls and randomly added them to her hair.

The ovals were cut out with the Tonic Studios Basic Oval dies and then I also sponged some Tumbled Glass distress ink around the edges of the scallop image panel before attaching it to the black oval panel.

Vicki-CCT581-ADU-flat

By the way, I have chosen the color theme purple for my card today as it’s my favorite color.  I have actually used many of my favorite items for this card, so I hope you’ve enjoyed it too!  (Purple, ribbon, metallic, heat embossing, die cut sentiment, Copic coloring, pearls, florals, background stamps…I have too many favorites! LOL!)   Do you have lots of favorites too?

Thanks for dropping in!

It’s Easter at Cute Card Thursday!

Yes!  Hello friends!  Easter IS on the way, isn’t it?!  I remember many Easters ago of hiding the eggs for the kids and then forgetting where I hid all of them myself, so I had to join in the Easter egg hunt too!  LOL!  Do you have any fun Easter memories?

So since it’s Thursday, it’s time for a fun new challenge at Cute Card Thursday!  Obviously, the theme this week is “Easter“!  We look forward to seeing what Easter makes you’re making this week, so come join us!  Here’s my card:

Vicki-CCT577-SSSEgg-stra Sweet Easter

I had a lot of fun creating this card!  I couldn’t help myself, I had to snatch up that Simon Says Stamp Limited Edition Egg-Stra Sweet Easter card kit. (Sorry, it’s sold out, but you can still purchase the stamp set, Background stamp, egg dies, and stencil separately from the kit though.  I have actually used all of those items on my card today too!

For the background, I took the jellybean background stamp and clear heat embossed it and then while I was cutting it out with a stitched rectangle die, I also took one of the eggs dies and cut out the center of the yellow card panel.  I cut a piece of white cardstock the same size as the yellow layer and then used the stencil and the Nuvo mousse that came in the kit and sponged it over the white panel.  I layered this piece along with a black heat embossed sentiment over vellum on a strip to wrap around the yellow panel along with a piece of black cord at the top.  I took some foam tape and mounted these pieces onto a white A2 sized top folding card base.  Lastly, I’ve added some clear sequins filled with some Nuvo glitter drops in the centers.

Vicki-CCT577-SSSEgg-stra Sweet Easter-close

Here’s a closer look at this sweet little Easter bunny that I’ve colored in with Copics.  I fussy cut it out and then decided to line up the bottom of it and cut it out with the same stitched die that I used on the yellow background panel.  I kept his ear out of it.

I took the glossy accents that also came in the card kit and covered the jellybeans with it.  I also took a couple of metallic gel pens to make some dots on a few of the Easter eggs and center of wheel.  Up close, you can see some of the shimmer from the Nuvo mousse in the white background egg that I stenciled on.

Lots of fun little details going on in this card, but that’s what I love about Easter…so many colorful and happy things going on!

Thanks so much for dropping in today!  I will see you soon!

Cute Card Thursday is Feminine

First, I just want to say THANK YOU so much to everyone that has joined along with the “Purple Day” blog hop!  I’m really thrilled that you have taken an interest in it and I can see from your comments that it’s working and bringing new awareness to some…really love that and appreciate your kind thoughts as well!

So today brings us to Thursday and that means it’s time for a new Cute Card Thursday challenge!!  Yay!  The theme for this week is “feminine”!  This is a great opportunity to make a card for that special gal in your life, so I hope you will join along with us!

Here’s the card I made for the challenge:

Vicki-CCT575-Feminine-SSS

Well, I don’t know about you, but I have “collected” several card kits because…well…they ALL look amazing when they show them off!!  ha!  I have grown a wee little tired of all of the boxes/envelopes full of card kit product that I’m not doing anything with, and I tend to leave EVERYTHING in the box together and then forget about some of the products that are in there!  {sigh} So I was thrilled to pull this one out to make a card!

Anyway, I have used the Simon Says Stamp April 2018 “Mother’s Day special edition” card kit for this.  It came with a pretty floral background stamp called “Flower Explosion” that I’ve stamped with the same ink as cardstock in the background and then sponged around the edges.  I stamped the “mom” from the stamp set in black and then made a banner by white heat embossing the other sentiment underneath.

Vicki-CCT575-Feminine-SSS-close

A close up of the flowers here that I’ve stamped out from the SSS “Mom’s Clematis” stamp set over some Bristol watercolor paper.  I’ve used the Zig Clean Color Brush markers and a water brush to color them in with and then fussy cut them out to arrange over the stamped card panel.  As you can see in the photo, I have covered the flowers with a Spectrum Noir Glitter Brush Pen.  (You have to get that just right in photo to show up!)  I used some foam dots to pop up the bud and largest flower.

Vicki-CCT575-Feminine-SSS-flat

And then to embellish it up a bit, there were some pretty gold puffy stickers in that kit, so I took a heart and placed it next to the sentiment and then added some sequins from the kit and filled them with some gold Stickles.  Everything was mounted over a piece of black cardstock which was then mounted over a top folding A2 sized card base the same color as the image panel.

Please do hop on over to the Cute Card Thursday Blog and check out the rest of the inspiration from the design team and play along with us!

Thanks so much for dropping by and I’ll see you soon!

Anything Goes for Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  Hope you had an amazing Christmas and Santa brought you everything you’ve wished for!  It’s always a fun time of year to celebrate with family and friends!

Today is Thursday which means a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday!  Another easy theme of “Anything Goes” for this week!  Looking forward to seeing what you’ve been crafting through the Holiday Season!

Sometimes I like to try out working with different media that I don’t normally always use on my creations, so for this one I’ve pulled out my watercolor:

Vicki-CCT562-watercolor winter hats

I have used one of the prints from Simon Says Stamp Suzy’s Winter Warmth Watercolor Prints.  I’ve decided to use my Kuretake Gansia Tambi Watercolor set with a #4 and #8 Silver Brushes to color the complete panel.

For a little bit of “snow splatter”, I took some white Folk Art Mixed Media acrylic paint spray around the edges of the dried watercolor piece. (Something new and fun for me to try out with this too!)

To finish up the design, I added some doodling in a couple of areas with my white gel pen and then attached the entire panel onto a white A2 sized top folding card base and rounded the corners of it with a corner chomper.

It was simple, but a fun card to make.  Because SOMETIMES, you just need to take time to chill and have fun coloring or playing around with different media, right?! 🙂

Challenges I’d like to enter:

  1.  SSS Work It Wednesday – Try Something NEW (Mixed Media acrylic spray is new!)
  2. QKR Stampede – Anything Goes #327
  3. Crafty Creations – Anything Goes
  4. The House that Stamps Built (D6218) – Anything Goes
  5. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes

Food and Drink at Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  It’s time for a new Cute Card Thursday challenge!  This one may have a tendency to make you a little hungry as we are asking for your “Food and/or Drink” creations to add to the challenge gallery this week!  We really look forward to seeing what you come up with for it!

Here’s my take on the challenge:

Vicki-CCT552-NachoBday

LOL!  I can’t help but giggle at these silly puns and especially with the smiling faces on the food images too! 🙂  I just had to grab the Simon Says Stamp “I Chews You” card kit and I couldn’t wait to have a play with it!  Everything that I’ve used on my card including the paper all come from this card kit.

There were some pre-scored card bases, so I used one of those for my card base, then I took a strip of the colored stripes paper and a thin strip of the gold glitter paper included in the kit and glued it on at the bottom with the glue included in the kit.

I then stamped the images and colored them with my Copic markers.  I put the “salsa bowl” at the bottom so it looks like it’s setting on top of the colored stripes.  I added the speech bubble with the punny sentiment inside of it too.  I then added the sequins from the kit and then filled the centers with some Nuvo Crystal Drops for the centers.

Vicki-CCT552-NachoBday1

Here you can see a closer look at the coloring of the images.  I’ve also added some shimmer with a Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter Brush Pen over the “salsa” images.  I know that it shows it as “guacamole”, but I’m more of a “salsa” person myself and decided to go for that instead.  Hubby is not a guac fan either, but we love to eat Mexican food! 🙂

Thanks for joining me today!. What’s on your menu?!

  2. Seize the Birthday – Anything Goes

Rainbows and Butterflies

Hello friends!

That was quite a post yesterday and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your kind words…it was even hard to read those, but please know I appreciated your kind hearts immensely!

I have a very fun and cheerful card for you today!  Although I had missed the Cute Card Thursday challenge this last time, it is still going on and you have a few more days to enter if you wish to play along with us using your Bugs and/or Butterfly creations!  I just love playing with butterflies and the first thing that came to my mind was that past Simon Says Stamp card kit called “Beautiful Butterflies”.  There was some awesome rainbow patterned paper in the kit as well as a butterfly stencil and so I decided to mix them together!

Vicki-CCT539-rainbow butterflies

I used the rainbow papers (from Lawn Fawn) for the base background of my card.  I took the butterfly stencil from the kit and sponged in some Distress Oxide inks for the different butterflies in rainbow ink color!  I’ve used:  Picked Raspberry, Orange Marmalade, Squeezed Lemon, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet and sponged them in with a sponge dauber.  Mounted it onto a strip of black cardstock and placed over the rainbow background.  I heat embossed a sentiment from the stamp set included in the kit with white embossing powder and then used some foam tape to mount it over the card.  I finished off the card with some black enamel dots.

Simple and fun card to make!  Thanks so much for stopping in today!!  See you soon!
