Ghostly Haunts with Digi Doodle Studios + a Bag-a-lope Video Tutorial!

Hello friends and happy weekend to you!  Hope that you have some fun included in your weekend.

Today I’m sharing this really adorable digital stamp set from Digi Doodle Studios called “Ghotstly Haunts” and I had SO much fun with it that I made several projects using it including a fun video tutorial that may give you ideas for not only your favorite goblin, but for other fun ideas that I’ll reference:

Vicki-DDS-Bag-a-lope video

Now how cute are the ghosts in this set?!  As you can see, I had tons of fun creating several projects using the Ghostly Haunts Pairables digital stamp set!

The two projects on the ends are actually what I’ve created for the “bag-a-lope” video tutorial.  If you’ve been crafting for as long as I have, then I’m sure you’ve heard of this idea somewhere along the way.  People buy up those dies, but this way seems so much easier and cheaper to deal with to me.  Here’s the project idea that I share in the video:

Vicki-DDS-Bag-a-lope1

This is such a fun and easy bag to create and fill with treats for your favorite goblin!  You can fill with yummy treats or a small gift.  It would be great to put a gift card inside with some tissue or bag fill too!  Not only for Halloween, but for Christmas too!

In the video below, I share how I created this bag along with another fun project using the same idea with just a plain old envelope!  That’s all you need to make these along with your own ideas!  I’ve used the Ghostly Haunts Pairables set to create the fun spider web paper in the background as well as the spider and sentiment.

If you’d like to see how to create this treat bag along with some other fun ideas with tips and tricks, then be sure to watch my video tutorial below or CLICK HERE to view it on You Tube. – If you haven’t yet, please be sure to hit “like”, comment and subscribe to my channel!

As seen in the video, I have also used this adorable set using the same “bag-a-lope” idea to create a fun Lumiere using a vellum envelope.  I have printed out an additional ghost and attached him to the clip on the top of the bag.  LOL!

For the spider web strips at the top and bottom, they were the same left over papers that I’ve used on the treat bag above, but for these strips I’ve heat embossed over them with some clear sparkle EP.  It’s hard to see in the photos, but I’ve taken a sparkle glitter brush pen and covered every single ghost on my projects.  I’ve used my Copic markers to color in all of the images after printing out my scenes from the computer.  The sentiment for this project was actually made by myself using a font from my computer.

Vicki-DDS-Bag-a-lope-candle

Here you can see how the battery tea light candles are glowing through the vellum Lumiere bag.  I also thought this would be a fun idea for Christmas time as well!

Vicki-DDS-Ghostely Haunts

Lastly, I HAD to create a card using this adorable digital set too!

For this card, I created the scene on my computer and printed it out.  I printed it out again over some masking paper.  I cut the images out of masking paper and put them over the printed out scene so I could do the ink blended background.  I actually fussy cut the ghost and popped him up over the tombstone.  I covered him with a glitter brush pen too!  (I’ve also added a touch of “moon glow” on the top of his head.

I die cut the scene and attached it over a piece of purple glitterstock and then die cut the black frame to go over top of the card.  Before adding the frame, I attached the die cut fence and a couple more pieces of “grass” from the digital stamp set.  That sentiment cracks me up!  I sponged over it, added to a black strip and attached it over the card front panel.  This was all attached to an A2 sized top folding card base.

Hope you’ve had as much looking at my projects as I had making them! Thank you so much for dropping by today and I’ll be seeing you soon!

Brand New Images from Digi Doodle Studios + Video!

Hello friends!  Happy Friday!  I’m happy for the weekend to get here, how about you?!  The weather has started to cool down slightly and it’s so nice to have that air conditioning turned off for a change!

Today I’m super excited to share with you some really fun and adorable new image set that Digi Doodle Studios has come out with from the brand new “Pairables” Collection!  The set that I’m sharing today is adorable and so fun to mix and match images with!  Check out the two cards I made with it:

Vicki-DDSWizardPairables-video

I absolutely had so much fun creating a little scene with the images and then printing them out for coloring and making cards with!    All of the images that I’ve used here come from the new Digi Doodle Studios Charming Enchanters Wizard Pairables Digital Stamp Set and I believe that I’ve probably used most of the images from the set on these two cards.

Vicki-DDSWizardPairables-boy

For this particular card, I’ve used my computer to arrange the stars from the wizard’s wand and the sentiment how I want them placed and then printed it out twice.  One I printed on Copic blending card and another image printed out on Neenah Solar White cardstock so that I can do the ink blended background on it.

Vicki-DDSWizardPairables-boy-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring details on the wizard.  You can see that he has a bit of a “glow” about him.  So after I colored him in with my Copic markers, I decided that I could use a yellow color pencil to add just a bit of glow to certain parts of the image.  I’ve then used gel pens to color in other detailed portions of the image and a white gel pen for the stars in the background as well.  I’ve tried to capture a little bit of that stunning shimmer for the background, but of course it doesn’t show up as great as it is in real life!

He was fussy cut out and placed over the ink blended background that I’ve made.

Since my last video on the ink blending, I’ve had a few more questions about it, so I thought I’d share a more in-depth look into it.  To see a video of how I’ve created the background on this “wizard” card, I’ve made a video to show in detail how I’ve done it with a few tips and tricks along the way.   So check it out below or watch it on You Tube by CLICKING HERE.

I hope that this helps a little more on explaining how I achieved the look for ink blending backgrounds.  I know that I’ve had people ask me to do a video on another background I’ve made on another card, so perhaps I will share another video on that later.

If you do have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment here or on You Tube or contact me and let me know!  If you have other suggestions, I’d always love to hear that too!

Vicki-DDSWizardPairables-girl

Here’s the other card that I’ve made using the same Charming Enchanters Wizard Pairables Digital Stamp Set.  Again, I’ve arranged and sized the images how I wanted them on my computer, printed it out just the same as above and fussy cut out all of the colored images to place over my background.

I’ve mounted the image panel over a piece of purple cardstock and then placed it over a top folding 5″ square black card base.  I’ve used a piece of ribbon to run behind the layered image panel and then added some fun decorative metal corners on it.

For this card on the background, I didn’t distress it with water, I just left it ink blended.

Vicki-DDSWizardPairables-girl-close

Here’s an up-close look at the coloring I’ve done on the image.  You can see again that I’ve used my gel pens to color in the tiny details like the stars on her hat, the bubbles from her cauldron, the bookmarker and the tiny nail on the wall.

To get the glow on the images, I’ve taken a green colored pencil and added it in the places that I thought her green magic potion would glow from.

Thanks so much for stopping in and hanging out with me today!  See you soon!

Triangle Corner Pop Up Card + video tutorial!

Today I’m sharing the Triangle Corner Pop Up Card.  I have actually received several messages and comments that people wanted to see a video tutorial on how to make one.  So I thought I would come up with a version that I could share to show the many different variations that you can come up with and the fun you can have with it!

Vcki-BMBeHappy-TriCornerPop-opened

This style is a much more elegant approach which is much different than a past creation I put together.  I love that you can change the look and have fun playing with different stamps and elements to fit inside the design!

For this one, I have taken the Rose and Butterfly stamp sets to stamp and Copic color.  I fussy cut out the images on my design.  I’ve used Jurassic 100# and White 100# cardstock.  The decorative paper is from the Rustic Florals paper pad.  I stenciled the bottom of the Jurassic panel with a stencil using some Unicorn Horn Glitter Glaze.  Both of the rose images along with the small heart circle on the easel card were popped up with some foam tape.

For the circle easel design, I’ve cut out a scallop circle with the white cardstock in the size that I thought would fit within the design.  Then cut the body of the card with other circle dies in the Jurassic cardstock and then the front with some more of that Rustic Florals paper that I’ve used in the background.  The sentiment below the butterfly and the hearts on the small circle were stamped from same stamp set.  All of the white panels (with the exception of the scallop circle) was ink foam blending with some grey distress ink.  To keep the card “locked” in this position, I’ve used the Mini Disc Magnets.

If you are interested in learning how to create one of these cards for yourself, then please be sure to check out my video below.  CLICK HERE to view on You Tube.

These cards can look really intimidating, but once you see the measurements of how to put one together, they’re really easy and fun to make!

Vicki-BMBeHappy-TriCornerPop-unfolded

Here’s what the card looks like completely opened up.  You can see on the left bottom panel that I’ve taken that rose from the stamp set again and stamped it in the corner with some grey ink after ink foam blending around the edges of it.  This will be the area that I’m leaving for a personal message.

To fold it down to a 4″ square card that’s close you will start by folding down on the top and then fold it over from the right side to the left.  This will completely close it up.

Vicki-BMBeHappy-TriCornerPop-front

Here you can see that the card is completely closed to a 4″ square size minus the rose leaves sticking out which I don’t mind.

I took another panel of the Jurassic cardstock for the front of the card and sponged around the edges of it with the white Ink and then also stamped the rose again in the corner of it.  Because I had several dimensional and extra layers on this card, I had to use a ribbon to tie it together to help it stay closed up.  You might need an envelope that is slightly larger than an A2 envelope, but if you use less layers and dimension, it should fit in an A2 size envelope.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my interactive card and tutorial today!  Thanks so much for dropping in with me!

Faux Metal Technique + video

Hello friends!!  I’m so excited to share with you this fun technique that’s not new, but a cool look to try with your embossing powders!

Vicki-BMHOP-subscriptions

I really love how this one tuned out!  I have used the “Faux Metal” technique on my card along with the “emboss resist” technique.

In order to share the steps of this card, I’ve made video so you can see how I incorporated these techniques into my design.  CLICK HERE to watch on You Tube or check it out below:

Here’s a closer view of the impressed flower into the embossed panel.  It’s fun to run your fingers over the flower.  I happened to have found the perfect accent for the center of the flower too!  I think it really picks up the pretty colors in the card.

Vivienne on the Beach with Video Tutorial!

Hello friends!  Summer is in full swing over my way and the temperature is typical for August which is hot!  So of course who wouldn’t love a nice relaxing sit at the beach with a cool iced drink on hand!  Happily continuing with my guest design spot, I have another fun creation for you today using this really cute Summer image from Digi Doodle Studios:

Vicki-DDSVivienne-Augvideo

Vivienne Beach Girl is all decked out in her cute navy blue beach outfit holding a sea shell in one hand and a cold drink in the other!  Sounds like a great idea to me!  I had so much fun coloring her in!

I have been asked by several people how I go about doing the ink blending on certain cards that I’ve made in the past.  It’s somewhat difficult to type up exactly what I’m doing when I blend and sometimes it tends to be a bit different depending upon what background and colors I’m creating with as well as the type of scene that I’m making.  So I thought it would just be easiest to create a video tutorial on how I’ve achieved this particular beach scene background:

(To view the video on You Tube, CLICK HERE or watch below)

I didn’t show the coloring of this image in the video, but let me know if this is something you’d like to see in a video from me by leaving me a comment or message somewhere.   It always helps if you let me know that you are interested in something!

Vicki-DDSVivienne-Augvideo-close

So here’s a closer look at this adorable image and how I’ve colored her with my Copics.  I fussy cut her out and went around the edges with a black marker to hide any imperfections I may have had.  As seen in the video, I’ve attached her to the background and added some shimmer to her sunglasses with a glitter pen, added some liquid glitter glue to her cup and glossy accents on her ice.

Vicki-DDSVivienne-Augvideo-flat

To add details to the card, I’ve used the Lawn Fawn stamp set Life is Good by stamping a couple of sea shells, coloring them in, fussy cutting them out and attaching to the scene. I took a sentiment from the set and white heat embossed it over a navy strip and cut it into a banner. I also took a bird and stamped it in the sky twice with black ink.  I’ve layered the beach scene onto a piece of navy cardstock that was cut with the MFT Blueprints 27 Die-namics die.  I then attached these layers onto a white top folding A2 sized card base.

Lastly, I’ve added some Crystal Clear Confetti from Studio Katia with liquid glue.

Thanks for dropping in and I’ll see you soon!

Conservatory of Quotes + video!

I had SO MUCH FUN with my creation today and I can’t wait to share it with you…

One of my most favorite products is watercolor and all of the really cool affects you can get with them!  This is what I have used throughout the card here from the background to coloring the floral image.

Speaking of floral image, isn’t it gorgeous?!  It not only has this gorgeous floral image, but it has some really awesome quotes to go with it!

For my card, I first started by masking off an area with some purple tape on some paper that was large enough for my floral image.  Then I made the background with some help from a ruler and baby wipes.  I used a stitched rectangle die, added the sentiment at the bottom of my rainbow panel and made some splatters.  I mounted this piece onto an A2 sized top folding black cardstock.

Vicki-Brutus Monroe-ConservatoryofQuotes-JuneGDT-close

For the image, I had actually started out doing this card in one direction and then totally went a different way.  But the image was stamped with black ink a couple of times over the paper and colored with Aqua Pigments using a water brush.  I cut an entire image of one and attached it over the rainbow background with liquid glue and then I fussy cut just the flowers and popped them up with foam tape over the full image.  I added some of that gorgeous shimmer with the Aqua Pigment and then finished off the design by adding some clear sequins over it.
