Sports🎾 for {Cupcake Inspirations}

Hello friends!  It’s been a week since my last post, but I’ve been busy cleaning up around my house to get prepared for the cooler weather ahead of us shortly and it’s starting this week to be very cold in the evening…so it’s just one of those things that need to get done is all.  I actually love all things Fall including that! (Yes, I’m weird! LOL!)

Today starts up a brand new challenge over at {Cupcake Inspirations} and the theme is….

SPORTS!!!⚽⚾🥎🏀🏐🏈🏉🎱🎳⛳⛸

That is also something else that I enjoy in the Fall season!  I like to watch football with my hubby and since I have had boys that played in several different sports along with my husband liking all things sports, I’m always involved in it in someway!🏈  I thought I’d try something a bit different with this theme that is something I like to do for myself….

Although this card may look a bit simple in style, I did spend some time putting it all together.

I’ve used this darling image from All Dressed Up Stamps called “And Relax” that I’ve fussy cut out after printing and then I created a separate plain panel with just the words enlarged a bit more than what the image was printed.

The printed words panel was die cut with a stitched rectangle die and then I masked off the Kramer stencil from Brutus Monroe and covered it with some glitter glaze (unknown color) that was lurking in my stash and it turned out so pretty when dried!  I popped up the colored image with foam tape, added sequins filled with some Nuvo Emerald City Glitter Drops which seemed to match up with the glitter glaze nicely.  I layered the front image panel over a stitched rectangle Raven cardstock layer and attached these layers over an A2 sized top folding white card base.

Here’s a closer view of the coloring I’ve done on the image using Copic markers.  Since it’s an image with really tiny details and small areas, I kept the coloring light and simple.  I’ve only added dots to her cheeks with a white gel pen.

I’ve used a craft knife to cut in the areas and I left a white border around her so that all the details showed up with her hair strands and neck line.

You can also see how pretty that sparkle looks from the glitter glaze over the stencil too!  The Nuvo Glitter Drops matched up nicely with it!

It’s a Monday, so perhaps this might be something good to think about doing today, right?!😁

Thank you for stopping in my friends!  I appreciate you taking the time!  I’ll have more coming soon!!  See you then!

It’s Festive at Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  Hoping you’re having a great week so far and a happy Thursday too!

We’re starting a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday today!  Woo hoo!  The challenge for this week is “FESTIVE“!  With the Holiday Season upon us, I think this is a great idea to get more creations done!

We’re sponsored by All Dressed Up Stamps this week and I have been feeling festive myself and decided to make a fun tag with one of their images today:

Vicki-CCT608

Now isn’t she just the cutest?!  The image is called “Christmas Hair Do” from All Dressed up Stamps.  When I’m feeling particularly festive, I like to wear fun holiday sweaters and such, but I don’t believe I’ve ever had a hair do like this one before.  LOL!

I’ve used my favorite Stitched Traditional Tag dies from My Favorite Things and cut the largest out from Jurassic cardstock from Brutus Monroe.  The two decorative paper strips on each end of the image are from the Sweater Weather paper pad by Brutus Monroe as well.

I took the die cut tag and ran the “cable knit” embossing folder (from Stampin’ Up!) over it and then added my image panel over top that was also cut with the stitched tag die on the sides.  Then I glued the strips on each end and stamped the “be jolly” sentiment in the corner.  I punched a hole at the top of the tag and added the red seam binding ribbon that was tied up with twine along with a snowflake button threaded with linen thread over top.

Vicki-CCT608-close

Here’s a closer look at the image on the tag and my coloring with Copic markers.  I was trying to match up the colors on her outfit with the papers that I was using as I liked the sweater knit print and thought it would be fun to use with this image.

I’ve added some dots with a white gel pen on her cheeks, eyes and around the snowflake in her hair.  I covered the berries in her hair with glossy accents and took a shimmer glitter pen over the round ornaments hanging from her antler head band.

Thanks so much for stopping in today friends!

It’s Autumn at Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  Thank you for joining me!  I hope you’re all having a wonderful week so far!  It’s a tad bit warmer than what I’d like to see it be in September for sure, so I’m hoping it cools down soon!

Today starts a new challenge this week for Cute Card Thursday.  This week we’d like to see your “Autumn” creations.  We look forward to seeing what you create for it!

Here’s what I’ve made using one of our sponsor’s images:

Vicki-CCT599-ADU

This little squirrel is so sweet and I love how the tail on him was designed!  This is called “Bushy Tail” from All Dressed Up.  They’re sponsoring the challenge this week, so please be sure to play along for a chance to win!

I’ve dug out some papers from my Autumn stash of papers and picked some out that I thought would go with this image.  I layered a strip over a 5″ square piece of dark gray cardstock that I embossed with a leaf embossing folder that I was finally able to use!  I sponged a bit of white ink over the raised areas.

I also took some score tape and ran it down the center of the card and added some glitter over it and burnished it in.  The image panel was popped up over the card with foam tape.  I added some twine around each corner of the image panel along with a bow that I’ve placed a pearl in the center.

Vicki-CCT599-ADU-close

Here’s a closer look at the squirrel image that I’ve colored in with Copic markers.  I wanted to keep the squirrel looking a bit softer, so I’ve used some lighter colors.

During the fall is a good time to view all of the squirrels running around our yard trying to burry their nuts.  We seem to find them in silly places sometimes as they save them for later! LOL!

I die cut the image with a scalloped square die and sponged around the edges with some Pumice Stone Distress Ink and layered it over a piece of the dark gray and then layered it again over a piece of kraft cardstock.

Cute Card Thursday is Going in Circles!

Hello friends!  I hope you’re having a great week so far!  Today is Thursday and it’s time to start a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday!  This week we are looking for your “Circles” on  your creations!  So here’s what I’ve made for the challenge:

Vicki-CCT594-ADU

We are being sponsored by All Dressed Up Stamps and I’ve used this adorable “Girl On a Bike” image for my card.

I’ve colored her up and cut her out with a circle die that I commonly reach for which is the Hero Arts Infinity Circle dies and then I cut out a black cardstock circle to layer behind her as well as the sentiment circle.  I happen to find some papers that, for me, mimicked the bike wheels, so I cut that out in a circle as well for the design.  For each circle, I took my ink foam blending tool and went around the edges with the same ink color that I’ve used for the cloud background.

Now that I had all the circles cut out for my design, I used a cloud stencil to ink up background which I cut out with a stitched rectangle die along with the pattern paper circle and then wrapped some black ribbon around it before attaching it to a black cardstock layer that was then mounted over a white A2 sized card base.

I added the circle image and cut off the right edge that was sticking out along the side.  I took the sentiment circle and popped it up over the design with a foam circle and then I added some clear sparkling sequins in various places.

Vicki-CCT594-ADU-close

Here’s a closer look at the image and how I’ve got her colored up with Copic markers.  I used a white gel pen for the flowers in her hair along with a gold gel pen for the centers of each of the flowers and her shoes and shirt waist band.  I’ve used a silver gel pen for the bike wheels, petals and end handles.

Vicki-CCT594-ADU-flat

It’s CAS at Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  I hope you’re having a great week so far!!  I had forgotten to give updates on the “bird nest” situation, but actually the last time we had checked, the baby bird hopped onto the roof next door and the mother bird was chirping at us and then the baby took off and flew away!  We never were able to get any more photos.  I think there was just that one baby bird that survived.  Now we have the empty nest in the tree.  We think another bird may be trying to build on it, but we don’t see anything.

Today is Thursday which means it’s time for a brand new Cute Card Thursday Challenge!!  The theme for this week is CAS (clean & simple)  Our sponsor is All Dressed Up, so be sure to play along for your chance to win!

Here’s my take on the challenge:

Vicki-CCT586-ADU

I have used this really cute image kindly donated by our sponsor called Dreaming of Summer.  I love the “dreamy” pose she has!  I thought she would look so cute propped up over a fence, so I made one for her!

**Sometimes, CAS puzzles me as to the “definition” of what it TRULY is.  To me, it is a bit different to some than others.  I feel it to be more like an “art term” where everything is subjective in it’s form and if I have to think about it TOO much, I’m not being “me” and having my fun with it…so I just create weather it is considered simple or not.  🙂  For me, this seemed like a CAS design.**

First, I colored up the image and then stenciled on some clouds behind her.  I took a craft knife and cut out just the bottoms of her elbows.  I stamped another panel with a woodgrain stamp in gray colored ink and then used a punch with a sharp point to create the “planks” for the fence.  I sponged around the edges with more gray ink and then I tucked the fence panel underneath her elbows and attached it to the image panel.  I cut out these pieces with a stitched rectangle die and layered that onto a piece of black cardstock that was layered over an A2 top folding white card base.  Lastly, I added the die cut “hello” with black cardstock in the corner.

Vicki-CCT586-ADU-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on this image.  I’ve colored her in with Copic markers and then for the tiny butterflies, bees and flowers around her, I’ve used some metallic gel pens to color them with.  You can see the shimmer on them.

I’ve also taken some liquid pearls to place some dots around her as well.  I thought it made her look a bit more whimsical.

You can also see where her elbows are lifted up over the fence panel too.

Tie a Bow for Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  Here we are at another Thursday already!  Where does this time thing go?!  I’m trying to embrace Spring for as long as possible.

Today starts a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and this week we’d like to see your “Tie a Bow” creations!  I am a huge fan of ribbon and have WAY too much that I could never possibly use it all in my life time!  LOL!  How about you?  Do you have a big ribbon stash too?

Vicki-CCT581-ADU

So does it feel like we are at the salon?  She’s fashioning her “new do” which I think would be so fun to go have a spa day with mom or your favorite female person, right?!

The sponsor for this week’s challenge over at Cute Card Thursday is All Dressed Up Stamps and I have used this cute image from the store called “New Hair Do” for my card today.  Now although she does already have a bow tied to her hair, I thought this was a good opportunity for me to pull out some of my ribbon and actually tie a bow!  I thought this image would make for a wonderful feminine/Mother’s Day card too.

I started out by white heat embossing a piece of purple cardstock with a Simon Says Stamp Background stamp called Flower Explosion.  The sentiment on the black banner was also white heat embossed and placed over the design right above the “mom” sentiment that was die cut with silver mirror cardstock.  I layered the purple embossed panel over a piece of black cardstock.

I ran a piece of white organdy ribbon around the two layers and then added the oval cut image panels onto the card front.  I added the tied bow with the organdy ribbon off to the right side and then layered another bow I tied with some silver cord and then topped that with a pearl accent.  All of these layered were attached to a 5″ square white top folding card base.

Vicki-CCT581-ADU-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring of the image.  I’ve used Copic markers to color her in with and brushed some Wink of Stella over her bow.  (Which is hard to see of course!)  I’ve also taken some tiny pearls and randomly added them to her hair.

The ovals were cut out with the Tonic Studios Basic Oval dies and then I also sponged some Tumbled Glass distress ink around the edges of the scallop image panel before attaching it to the black oval panel.

Vicki-CCT581-ADU-flat

By the way, I have chosen the color theme purple for my card today as it’s my favorite color.  I have actually used many of my favorite items for this card, so I hope you’ve enjoyed it too!  (Purple, ribbon, metallic, heat embossing, die cut sentiment, Copic coloring, pearls, florals, background stamps…I have too many favorites! LOL!)   Do you have lots of favorites too?

Thanks for dropping in!

Time to Celebrate at Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!!  I’m very excited to share my card with you today for Cute Card Thursday!  We are celebrating our 11th birthday this week!!  WOO HOO!!  So of course, the theme for this week is “CELEBRATE“!!  Hope you can pop on over and celebrate with us by sharing your creation!!

This week we are sponsored by All Dressed Up Stamps and I have used one of their adorable images for my card today:

Vicki-CCT573-ADU-Celebrate

I have used this very sweet image called Time to Shine and she is having so much fun dancing around with all of the stars floating about her!

For the card, I have taken some silver sparkle cardstock and cut the stitched scallop frame and then placed some pretty papers behind it.  I mounted these pieces onto a piece of black cardstock as well as the image that was cut out with another stitched scallop rectangle die, also mounted with a piece of black cardstock and then added to the center of the sparkle framed panel.

I also took some pretty, pink, silky ribbon and wrapped it around the corners of these layers and also tied a bow with it that I’ve attached to the upper right corner of the wrapped around ribbon.  These layers were then mounted onto a white, top folding A2 sized card base.  Lastly, I’ve added some stars that were die cut from the same sparkly cardstock and I’ve also added one to the center of the wooden star veneer that was glued in the center of the pink bow.

Vicki-CCT573-ADU-Celebrate-close

Here’s a closer look at the Copic coloring I’ve done on this image.  I have added some extra sparkly details to the image by taking a Spectrum Noir Glitter Brush Pen and went over just the bottom portion of her dress.  I then took a silver gel pen and colored in the stars around her and added some dots to her dress and hair with it as well.  I wanted to create lots of sparkle and shine to this one! 🙂

Cute Card Thursday Has Wings!

Hello friends!  It’s Thursday already which means it’s time for a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday!  This is a really fun one to play with!  This week we’d like to see your “Wings” things!  Can’t wait to see what everyone makes!!

This week we are being sponsored by All Dressed Up Stamps and I have used one of their lovely images for my card today:

Vicki-CCT569-ADUWings

Isn’t she the sweetest little thing?  I have used the Fairy Magic image that was kindly donated from our sponsor, and I have colored her up using Copic markers.  I’ve also sponged some light blue ink around the image panel before matting it onto a green sparkly layer cut with a scallop square die.  I also used some craft foam to pop up the image panel over my card for a bit of dimension.

I have just bought these gorgeous Fairy Garden papers from Kaiser Craft and used them on the background panel of my card.  I also used some gorgeous shimmery light green cardstock to go with it!  I’ve taken a thin strip of the glitter cardstock and attached it up against the butterfly papers and then attached some lace over it.  I then mounted this entire panel over a white top folding 5″ x5″ card base.

Vicki-CCT569-ADUWings-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring and the little sparkly details I’ve added to her.   For the wings, I’ve taken a glitter brush pen over them and then used some metallic colored gel pens to add some dots to her wings as well as the butterfly wings along with some gold dots around her ribbons and the sentiment.

Here you can also see the wood veneer butterfly accent that I’ve added at the top.  I painted it with white gesso and then painted over it with some pretty pearl shimmer paint before attaching it to the card.

Vicki-CCT569-ADUWings-flat

Lastly, I’ve added three pearls at the bottom left corner of the card.  In this photo you can see the pretty shimmer on the light green background cardstock.  It was hard to capture in the photos, but the butterfly papers are sparkle embossed as well.

Thanks so much for dropping in today!

What’s New at Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  It’s Thursday time again and we have a new challenge for you over at Cute Card Thursday today!  The challenge for this week is…..”What’s New?

And remember these challenge themes are always your own interpretation!  Here’s what I’ve created for it:

vicki-cct564-adu-new

I thought this image was so TWEET!! 🙂  It is a “new to me” image from our sponsor this week by All Dressed Up Stamps called Home Sweet Home.  I thought this would be such a nice card for someone with a “new home”.

It was also nice to be able to use some older items from my stash as well!  I have colored up the image and used a heart die to cut it out with.  I’ve also sponged some color around the edges and added some stitching details with a marker.  For the patterned papers in the background, I’ve used a paper piercer tool and made stitch marks over the holes with a white gel pen.  I layered it onto a piece of white cardstock which I then layered onto a piece of 5″x5″ Sahara Sand top folding card base.  BEFORE attaching my white layer onto the base, I’ve added some twine around it.

I cut out a smaller heart from the die set I’ve used from some craft foam and attached it to the image heart panel and placed it over the twine on the front.  Lastly, I’ve added the wood veneer bird cage and flowers and twine bow.

vicki-cct564-adu-close

Taking a closer look at the image, you can see that I’ve used various colors of Copics to color it in with.  I went around the images with a W0 which matched up nicely with the colors of the main card panel.  You can also see places where I’ve added a bit of sparkle from some colored gel pens and extra “dots” around the image with a white gel pen.  It was actually a really simple and fun image to color!

Embossing at Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  It’s time for another Cute Card Thursday challenge this week!  We would like to see some “embossing” on your creations this week!  You can make it heat embossed, dry embossed or I would say embossing paste would work too!  Or you could challenge yourself and try to combine more than one kind! 🙂

We are sponsored this week by All Dressed Up Stamps, so be sure to enter the gallery for your chance to win a prize!!  Here’s what I’ve created for this week’s challenge:

Vicki-CCT560-ADU-embossing

This is such a cute and fun image!    I thought it would make a really fun “New Year’s” type of card, so I created with that in mind.  This image from All Dressed Up is called Season to Sparkle.  I colored her up with Copic markers and then used a gold gel pen to color in her crown.  I’ve also taken the Spectrum Noir clear glitter brush pen and colored her dress with it.  The sparkle on her wings are liquid glue and loose glitter.

I’ve cut the image out with a Zig Zag circle die and then layered a piece of gold mirror cardstock cut with a circle behind it.  I attached the circle image panel over a dry embossed black card front panel that I’ve also wrapped some gold ribbon around and attached the bow to the front.

I also heat embossed the sentiment with some gold EP and cut out a banner strip to pop up over the circle image panel.  I cut the tail end to match the card front.  This card front panel was layered onto an A2 sized white top folding card base.

Vicki-CCT560-ADU-embossing-close

Here I wanted to show you a closer look at the image panel and the close-up details of the frantage embossing powder over it.  (This is such a fun embossing powder to play with!  You have to heat it up from underneath.)  You can also see the gold embossed sentiment too.  I did take some gold tinsel Stickles and added a few drops around the image for more sparkle.
