Bubble Bath Beauty

Hello friends!  Yes, I’m still here! LOTS of fun stuff to share!

Today, I have a silly kitty card to share with you today:

Vicki-Bath Cat-May7

Oh my, that face just really cracks me up!!  It’s been several years since I have ever had to give a cat a bath, but I believe that’s pretty much how they feel about water in general.  I have used this Whimsy Stamps digital image called Bath Cat by Crissy Armstong.  (It was previously released as a rubber cling stamp, but now you can also get it in digital format if you prefer that!)

I started out my card with a piece of white cardstock and clear heat embossed several of the solid circle images from the Whimsy Stamps Circles Circles Circles clear stamp set.  I then took a few of the distress ink colors and blended them over the heat embossed circles.  The ink resisted those and then I spritzed it with some water and dapped it with a paper towel for water droplets.  I heat embossed the sentiment with white EP and cut it out in a banner to attach over my background.

The circle inked background was corner chomped on two of the corners and then I placed it over a blue A2 sized top folding card base which I also corner chomped the same two corners on that as well.  I then added the image panel and popped it up over some craft foam to attach to the front of the card.  I then cut off the edge of the circle with my scissors and lastly added some clear sequins to the design.

Vicki-Bath Cat-close-May7

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on the kitty.  I’ve used the following Copics to color him in with:

  • Kitty – W7, W5, W3, W1, R11, R00
  • Bathtub – B24, B21
  • Bubbles – BG000
  • Duckie – Y17, Y15, Y13

After I cut the image out with a circle die, I sponged around the edges of it with some of the distress ink I used on the background.  I used a Wink of Stella glitter pen on some of the bubbles and then used some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops on the water drops.

Vicki-Bath Cat-flat-May7

This one gave me a chuckle and sometimes even when you are feeling yucky, you just want someone to tell you that you are beautiful!

Thanks for dropping in today!  I’ll see you again soon!

Rainbow Shaker Birthday!

Hello friends!  Yay!  It’s Friday and I thought I’d share this happy shaker card that I made.

Vicki-MFT Birthday Bear Rainbow

I saw over at My Favorite Things “Birthday Project” Challenge was a “rainbow” theme and I thought this would make for a happy and fun birthday card design!  So I pulled out the MFT Transparent Triangles Background stamp (now retired) and heat embossed it with white EP over some Bristol Smooth Watercolor paper.  I went to work with my rainbow background and sponged several colors of Distress Oxide ink in rainbow form over the heat embossed background for a “resist technique”.  I spritzed some water over it and my sprayer went a tad bit “droopy” and I ended up with a weird large droplet pattern, but I decided I wanted to keep it anyway, I liked it.

So to make sure that my shaker balloon was going to line up with my bear, I needed to stamp, color and fussy cut out this bear from the Beary Special Birthday stamp set.  I needed to fussy cut it out because the coordinating die cut would also cut out the balloon from the image, and I didn’t want to include it as I was making my own!  I’ve also white heat embossed a sentiment from the same stamp set and cut it out with the Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips.  I also took the Mini Balloon Shaker Window & Frame Die-namics to cut out all of the pieces that I needed for the balloon.  (I used the fussy cut out bear for placement to see where I needed to die cut a hole in the background for the shaker area.)  Before attaching the bear down, I also took some green cardstock and cut out a border with the Grassy Fields Die-namics.  I sponged the edges with green ink and took a Copic marker to give a shadow around the bear.  So after I placed my “balloon hole” where I needed it on the background, I took the rainbow sequins to place inside the Mini Balloon Shaker Pouches and added a piece of black cardstock for the background, which was placed over an A2 sized white top folding card base.

Vicki-MFT Birthday Bear Rainbow-close

Here’s a closer look at the bear and how I’ve got him colored in.  I forgot that in addition to the rainbow sequins I had, I put some tiny star sequins in there as well.  At first, I thought I had gone a bit too dark for coloring the bear, but I like how he blended out and I think he really stands out on the rainbow background and doesn’t get lost with the black accents on the card.  I took a white gel pen to his cheeks and added some shimmer to his present with a glitter brush pen.

Vicki-MFT Birthday Bear Rainbow-flat

Here with the card lying flat, you can better see the shaker bits on the inside of the balloon and how they really stand out against the black balloon background.

I think I got a smile and it was passed around for the shaking.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I thank you so much for stopping in!  Wishing you a very happy and rainbow filled weekend too! 🙂

April New Release for Whimsy Stamps with Interactive Card!

I’m excited to be sharing this really fun and unique interactive design that I’ve made with one of the cute images called Stretchy Giraffe digital stamp from the new release!

Vicki-Giraffe Flies extended neck-April 2nd

This giraffe is so sweet and was fun to color up with Copic markers!  (See below for the full list of the markers I’ve used.)

I took the extended neck version of the giraffe and made some fold marks in his neck so that when folded, it looks like the “regular neck” version of the image, but when you pull up on the purple balloon at the top, the neck extends up with it! LOL!

Check out this 18 second video below to see how it works:

I’ve used the Whimsy Stamps No-See Kinetic Basics die set along with the Kinetic Straight Basics die set to make the straight track behind the large cloud that is under the flying giraffe.  This way there’s no track behind the giraffe to move the neck which I think is pretty cool with these special WS Kinetic No-See dies!

Because this was a giraffe with a long neck, I wanted to make a tall skinny type of card for this design.  (It measures 3″ x 6″ when closed.)  I’ve used a cloud die cut to hide the interactive track behind the giraffe and then I used a cloud stencil to sponge on some Wilted Violet and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks on the cloud die cut as well as the background white panel and the interactive pull behind the balloon so it all matches.  I thought it would be fun to add some stars, so I took the star from the Snappy Birthday clear stamp set and stamped them with the Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink.  I also took the sentiment from the Dachshund Balloon rubber stamp set and stamped it on the bottom of the white card front panel.  (I thought it was the perfect sentiment to go along with this image!  LOL!)  I’ve rounded the corners of the white panel and cloud panel with a corner chomper.

The giraffe was popped up with the black string wrapped around his left “antler” and then secured on the back.  The other end of the black string was tied around the balloon which is attached to the pull tab underneath the cloud area.  I covered the stars with a clear glitter brush and added some sequins filled with some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops.  I’ve used foam dots to pop up the giraffe over the design.

Vicki-Giraffe flies extended neck-April 2nd-close

Here’s a closer view of the extended neck and the coloring I’ve done.  Here is the Copic list that I’ve used:

  • giraffe body – YR24, YR21
  • spots, muzzle, mail & tail end – E15, E13, E11
  • Hooves & horns – E49, E47, E44
  • ears & belly – R20, R11, R00, R000
  • balloon – V17, V15, V12

I fussy cut the giraffe and the balloon separately from the image so that I could add my own string and make this an interactive card design.

Vicki-GiraffeFliesExtendedNeck-April 2nd-pulled tab

Really enjoyed creating this fun interactive card in a unique way with this adorable new stamp!  I hope you’ve been inspired with it too!  Would love to see what you come up with if you purchase this image!!

Thanks so much for popping in today!!  I’ll see you soon!

2 Crafty Critter Crazies – You are my Happy

Hello friends!!  Happy April Fool’s Day! 🙂

Well, there’s “no fooling” here today as I bring you a post to share the creation, I’ve made for a new challenge over at the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge Blog!  Since it’s the first of April, we have a new challenge starting with the “Anything Goes + critter” theme in mind!  Hope you will join us with your critter creations!

We are being sponsored by Digi Doodle Studios and this is the card I made for the challenge this month:

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia

Our sponsor was kind enough to share this very sweet image called Mia which I’ve used for my card today.  This is my first experience with these images, and I must say they have some really cute ones in their store, so hop on over and check them out!

I’ve colored her up with Copic markers including drawing extended lines for the grass and coloring it up all the way across and down.  I cut it out with a cross stitched rectangle die and then used a sun ray stencil to ink some yellow behind her by taping off the grass edge, so I didn’t get any on that part.  I then stamped the sentiment in black ink over top of that.

To continue on with the yellow color theme I’ve got going on, I cut out a piece of yellow glitter cardstock that was cut out with a scallop rectangle die (retired from Lawn Fawn) and attached it to the back of the image panel.  I took some plaid papers for the bottom portion of the A2 white top folding card base and then attached some yellow grosgrain ribbon across the top and then attached the image panel and then added a yellow ribbon bow along the edge.  Lastly, I finished it out with some yellow rhinestone crystals.

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on the image.  I took a black gel pen to color in the eyeball’s circles.  I wasn’t sure how to go about coloring the eyes, but this is the way that made the most sense to me.  I also went around the edges of the butterfly with the black gel pen.  I took a glitter brush pen and went over the liquid in her cup.

Vicki-2CCC-DigiDoodle-Mia-flat

I have to add that this image really got me thinking about past memories with my sweet little Mocca and how we would go out on nice Spring days like this.  She certainly was always “my happy” for sure and I still miss her like crazy.  I’m sure any of you that have lost pets understand what I’m saying.   It’s great to have the memories we’ve shared after all this time!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I appreciate it so much!

Whimsy Stamps Partner’s with Make a Wish Canada

Hello friends!  It’s my pleasure today to post information about this special image that Whimsy Stamps has just released today in honor of our beloved illustrator Crissy Armstrong’s brother, Ray Gauvreau, who is currently battling cancer.

I have made a special card just for him that is being sent out his way:

Vicki-WS-Penguin Ray

I started out by coloring up this image with my Copic markers in the following:

  • Penguin body, IV wheels/post – C8, C5, C3, C1
  • penguin feet/beak, tongue, cheeks – YR24, YR21, Y23, R20, R11, R00, R000
  • Bandage, IV bag – E33, E31, Y11, R00
  • ground/shadow – C1, E0000

For the background of my card, I took some xyron printed paper and foiled the background which I think looks great for a masculine theme design and that is what I was trying to go for with this card.  After foiling it, I took and sponged some yellow distress ink to blend around the edges of it for a bit of color, along with the image panel.

I had an old stamp set from my stash and thought it would be a great fit for this card, so I stamped the vertical “fight” sentiment next to the IV bag and then I took the other sentiment and heat embossed it with white EP and cut it in a strip to attach over the image.  Lastly, I’ve added some white enamel dots to each corner of the design.

Vicki-WS-Penguin Ray-close

Here’s a close look at the image and how I’ve colored it in.  It’s hard to tell in the photo of course, but I’ve also covered the IV bag with a clear glitter brush pen.  I think this image is a really great one to add to a crafter’s collection for “get well” cards and encouragement too like this one.  After cutting out the colored image panel and sponging the color around the edges, I’ve also layered this along with the foil panel with some black cardstock before attaching it onto a white top folding A2 sized card base.

Vicki-WS-Penguin Ray-flat

In this photo that I’ve laid flat, you can better see the shine from the foiled background that I’ve done.

Thank you so much for stopping in today and for your kind support too!

I will see you tomorrow for a special blog hop, so I hope you can join me!

  2. Aud Sentiments – Any sentiment EXCEPT “Happy birthday”
  3. QKR Stampede – #340 Anything Goes

Find Peace with a Winter Deer

Hello friends!  As I had mentioned in yesterday’s post, we are currently being hit with snow AND ice over my way…so I might as well embrace it, right?!   Although I’ve been trying to sneak in some Spring creations, I also enjoy creating Christmas/Winter cards throughout the year so that I can take my time and not be hurried during the rush of the Season at the end of the year which makes it more enjoyable…and peaceful! 🙂

I’m using a stamp set called Winter Deer which I’ve used on my card for today:

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb

I started out with a piece of watercolor paper and used the Blue Blitz and Atlantis Burst Nuvo Shimmer Powders to create the background by spritzing it with water until I achieved the look I wanted and set aside to dry.

I cut this panel out with an oval die and using my cut-out deer for reference to see where I wanted to position the sentiment, I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with White EP.  I used some Magic Speckle EP for a really cool background effect over the watercolor panel! (You can see it better in the photos below.)  I’ve used both Dimensional Glue as well as foam dots to attach the deer image and oval layers together.  I’ve used both white cardstock as well as some gold mirror cardstock for the layered panels.

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb-Close

Here’s a closer look at the Copic coloring I’ve done on the deer as well as the Magic Speckle EP effect on the background!  Since it’s a thicker type of powder, I didn’t attach it with anything.  I just added “piles” of it where I wanted and melted it from underneath, so it didn’t blow all over.  Loving how it has that “icy look” to it!

For the deer, I’ve used my Tim Holtz 5″ Mini Scissors to VERY carefully cut this image out and then used a black marker to go along the edges to hide my imperfections. For the snow over the branches, I’ve used a Nuvo Precision Glue Pen to go over it and then sprinkle some Sparkling Snow Glitter over it.  I also took the Nuvo Red Berry Crystal Drops and covered the “berries” with it.  I set this aside until dry to work on the rest of my card.

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb-Flat

So for the glittery background panel behind the oval layers, I took a piece of white cardstock and attached it with a piece of the Adhesive Sheets and die cut it out with a scallop rectangle die.  I removed the release paper from it and burnished some of the same Sparkling Snow Glitter into this panel.  I attached it over another piece of gold mirror cardstock and then wrapped some organdy ribbon around it and attached a bow along the side.

In the center of the bow, I added a snowflake sequin and then put a dot of the Dimensional Glue in the center of it and then added some more of the Sparkling Snow Glitter.

These layers were attached to an A2 sized top folding white card base and then the oval layers were attached over the glitter panel next to the bow.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and got inspired to keep ahead of making your Christmas cards this year!  Thank you so much for dropping in!  I really appreciate your kindness and support so much!!  (Reading your comments always brightens my day more than you know! HUGS)

Cuddle Bunny at Whimsy Stamps

Hello friends!  Hope you’ve had a great weekend!  The last time I posted I mentioned it was so nice that we could cook out on the grill, well this week it’s snow conditions and very cold!  With life in the Midwest, you never know what you’re going to get.

I thought it would be nice to turn that warm weather feeling to the inside of my craft room and create with this January released digital image from Whimsy Stamps:

vicki-wscuddlebunny-jan15

Fell in love with this darling image by Crissy Armstrong called Cuddle Bunny.  This had been a previous rubber stamp that is now available in digital format!  I think there are many advantages to getting a digital version:  1) It NEVER runs out of stock in the store because it’s a digital file, PLUS, you don’t have to wait for it to come in the mail!  2) You can size the image(s) whatever size you want it to be!  3) You can easily combine other images with it and arrange them as you’d like before printing it out.  4) You can color with Copic markers without worrying about anything getting smeared and lastly:  5) You can still feel like you’re “getting your hands crafty” by coloring and finishing out your creation with other products!  So, if you haven’t jumped on the “digital wagon”, an image like this would be a great one to try out!

vicki-wscuddlebunny-flat

For my card, I have colored my image with Copic markers, see the detail list below and then sponged some Tumbled Glass distress ink with an ink blending foam tool and a cloud stencil.  I then cut it out with the Whimsy Stamps Notched Rectangle dies and added a yellow layer behind it that I’ve notched out by hand.

For the background I’ve taken a piece of blue watercolor paper panel and lined the top and bottom of it with a strip of flower borders from my old stash.  I used a glue pen for the centers of the flowers and attached some glitter over top.  I added a strip of sheer white ribbon across it and attached it to a piece of shimmer luster paper which was mounted onto a 5″ square yellow card base.

Lastly, I used some craft foam behind the image panel and attached it over my card and then added the ribbon bow with a chipboard flower in the center.

vicki-wscuddlebunny-close

Here’s a closer look at the image where you can see how I’ve colored it.  Hard to capture in the photo, but I’ve also taken some Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops and added a tiny dot in the centers of the white flowers.  I have also used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush and went over the butterfly.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today and I thank you so much for stopping in!  I look forward to sharing another project with you tomorrow!  See you soon!

Here’s the list of Copic markers I’ve used:

  1.  Dress, Hair Bow & White Flowers:  Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11, B00, B000
  2. Shoes:  E87, E84, E81

Celebrate for a Hoppy New Year!

Happy New Year friends!!  Here’s wishing for a very HAPPY, HEALTHY and CRAFTY 2019 to you all!!

So… to be festive and join in on the celebration everywhere, I’ve decided to make a special card just for the occasion! 🙂

Vicki-SNS-challengeblog

I’ve used this really fun digital stamp called Max and I have used my Prisma Color pencils to color him in with over some Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel paper.  I cut him out with a circle die and then ran some glue around the edges with a Nuvo Medium Tip Glue Pen and sprinkled some Copper Jewel Glitter over it.  I mounted another circle behind it that I’ve cut out with some Tonic Burnished Rose Mirror Cardstock.

For the background of my card, I’ve used some Adhesive Sheets that I’ve cut out in different sized circles and then added some of the same glitter that I’ve used for around the frog image panel.  I cut a few more circles out with the same mirror cardstock as well.

Before attaching the circles, I’ve heat embossed the sentiment over the A2 sized top folding black card base with some bronze Rose embossing powder, which I think matches up beautifully with that mirror cardstock!  Right underneath the embossed sentiment, I added some 1/4″ Tear Tape and sprinkled on some more of that pretty glitter that I’ve used all over this card.  Then I added all the circles in the background including the frog image panel and cut off the circle part sticking over the edge on the right side.

Vicki-SNS-challengeblog-close

Taking a closer look at the “party Max frog”, you can see better how he’s colored in and a few other details that I’ve added to him.  For the olive shine, I’ve used some Nuvo Morning Dew Crystals Drops and for the “liquid” glass he’s sitting in, I’ve taken the Nuvo Medium Tip Glue Pen and sprinkled some Waterscape glitter over it.  I’ve also used the Nuvo Gold Coast Glitter Drops to add a bit of sparkle around Max’s head.  (I’m assuming that it’s a bit of “champagne pops” from the glass!  Tee Hee!)

Vicki-SNS-challengeblog-flat

Just like Max here, I’m just as happy to dive right into the New Year in 2019!

Thanks so much for dropping in!!  Enjoy your first day in 2019!

I Woof You!

Hello friends!!  Sheesh!  It’s almost Christmas!  How did it get here SO fast?!  Today I am actually preparing for my own family dinner gathering, so I will be very busy with cooking and spending time with my family today.  But I have scheduled a post to share with you using a darling Puppy Love digital stamp:

Vicki-SnS-Puppy Love-

I thought this little pup was SO CUTE!  I love the little shirt with the hearts on it!  So, if you are moving past your Christmas creations now, here’s some inspiration to share with a Valentine/Love theme! 🙂

For the image, I’ve printed it out and added the sentiment from the digital set underneath him.  I’ve used a scallop rectangle die to make an “Out of the Box” technique by cutting out the top of the heart balloon.  I colored the image with Copics.  I layered the image panel onto a piece of Chrome Silver Mirror Cardstock.

For the red layer behind that, I’ve taken a larger piece of white cardstock and added some 1/2″ Tear Tape around the edges.  I then used a larger sized scalloped rectangle die to cut it out with.  I peeled the release paper and added the Cherry Sparkle Flocking.  I’ve also added this to the tiny hearts on the shirt as well as the Pink Spirit Flocking but using the Nuvo Precision Glue Pen for the adhesive.  I’ve attached all of these layers onto a white A2 sized top folding card base.

Vicki-SnS-Puppy Love4

Upon a closer look at the image, you can see where I’ve added the flocking on the hearts in his shirt as well as the flocking at the top over the scallop rectangle panel.

For the balloons, I have covered them with some Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew.  It dries clear, but while it was still wet, I’ve sprinkled on some Ultrafine Waterscape Glitter very carefully and lightly and let it dry.  I think it adds a bit more sparkle to the shiny balloons!  After it dried, I used some silver ribbon to make bows and then attached them with some glue.  I also decided to add some more of the Crystal Drops on his nose!

Vicki-SnS-Puppy Love6

I love how this turned out with the flocking and glittery shine!  Hope you’ve enjoyed my card too!!  I thank you so much for stopping in today and I wanted to take the time here to wish you all a VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!!!   See you soon!

Challenges I’d like to enter:

Celebrating 10 Years of Whimsy Stamps!

Today kicks off a weekend of fun to celebrate Whimsy Stamps 10th birthday! Yay!!!  If you’ve been following along with me for a while, then you know that I have been a design team member at a few different times throughout the 10 years and I’m honored to be a part of the team again to help celebrate their 10th birthday!

I also wanted to share my birthday card inspiration:

Vicki-WS-IGhop-DoggieIcecream

So what could be more fun than this little Doggie Ice Cream digital stamp to help celebrate with!  I have printed him out twice (I’ll explain below) and colored him up in the following Copic markers:

  1.  Doggie body:  E27, E25, E23, E21, R20 (cheeks) and white gel pen
  2. Doggie bib:  BG78, BG75, BG72
  3. Ice Cream bowl:  C8, C5, C3 (Used C3 for ground shadow under image)
  4. Ice Cream/bottom scoop:  R85, R83, R81
  5. Ice Cream/top scoop:  E53, E51
  6. Cherry on top:  R39, R37, R35

I have taken some older Whimsy Stamps paper packs (this one no longer available called “It’s a Party”) to use for the background of my card design…he has to have a party scene after all, right?!

I then took a thin strip of black card stock to go along the edge of the paper to give it a nice finishing touch.  I also took another piece of black cardstock and white heat embossed the fun sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Bold Statements clear stamp set and then cut a banner and attached it alongside the black strip.  Lastly, I’ve added some fun matching Whimsy Stamps “It’s a Party” enamel dots to finish off the design.

A closer look at my image, you can see that I’ve added some glossy accents to the cherry on top of the ice cream as well as the pup’s nose.  I’ve used a Spectrum Noir glitter brush pen to over the ice cream scoops and then I took a liquid glue pen and sprinkled some more glitter under the pup image before attaching him to the paper.

The reason I printed out this pup twice is because I wanted to add some dimension to it.  I colored and fussy cut out the entire image and attached him over the glitter ground.  I took the second image and only colored his head/bib and the ice cream images.  I fussy cut those out, then turned them over to rub a tool over which make it curl around the edges a bit.  I used some foam tape to attach them directly over the image and it gives a nice dimension to it.

Vicki-WS-IGHop-Doggieicecream-dimension

Here’s a peek of what that dimension looks like underneath.  Because the edges curl, you don’t see much sticking out, but it gives a nice dimension to your image.

Vicki-WS-IGhop-DoggieIcecream-flat

Hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I hope you take part in the celebration with us at Whimsy Stamps in any way you can!   I also wanted to thank each of you for the kind support you’ve given me with my Whimsy Stamps creations, it means so much!

Enjoy your celebration weekend and I’ll see you soon!
