Merry and Bright for Whimsy Stamps

Hello friends!  Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I had another great weekend out with hubby, but this time we visited Starved Rock National Park.  Really amazing nature hike we took and I’m wore out!  I sure wish I was able to do more hiking than what we did, but what we did do was amazing.  I will share some photos soon of our last two weekends out.

For today I have a sweet image from Whimsy Stamps to share with you and another Christmas card that I was able to add to my pile which is always nice to have!

Vicki-WSPolarBearXmasTree

This little guy is so sweet trying to decorate his poor “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree here! LOL!!  This is another adorable Crissy Armstrong image called Polar Bear’s Christmas Tree.

I’ve cut out the image the whole length of the card front panel and layered it over a piece of black cardstock and then some red cardstock.  I was placed over a piece of digital paper that I printed out from the Whimsy Stamps Rustic Wood and Brick Digital Paper Collection.  I ran the edge of some scissors along the edges of it and then added some of the plaid ribbon along the left side.  I then mounted this over a 5.25″ square top folding black card base.

I die cut some pine boughs from green cardstock and arranged and glued it down over the strip of plaid ribbon.  I then added a plaid ribbon bow over top and then attached a black button with a twine bow in the center of that.

Vicki-WSPolarBearXmasTree-close

I’ve put a lot of detail into this image which is why I wanted this to be the main focus of the card.  I actually didn’t use too many different colors of Copic markers, but it took a while to get the “fur” looking the way I wanted.  (See list below.)

I started the scene by ink blending around the top edges and a bit around the sides with Weathered Wood distress ink.  After the ink blending, I took the sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Holiday Mini Sentiments clear stamp set and white heat embossed it over the top right edge of the image panel.

For finishing details, I took some yellow chalk for around the star at the top of the tree for a glow look and then covered the star with some gold Stickles.  I brushed the red ornament with a glitter brush pen and then the “hook” was colored with a gel pen.

I covered the entire bottom of the image panel with a glue pen and then sprinkled on some clear glitter for the snow.  Lastly I’ve added some red “berries” to the garland that the polar bear is holding with some Red Nuvo Drops.

Here’s the list of Copic markers that I’ve used to color in the image with:

  •  Polar Bear – W9, W7, W5, W3, W1, W0, blender 0, R00 and white gel pen
  • Tree and Garland – E25, E23, YG67, YG63, YG61, R39, R37, R35
  • Snow Ground and Shadows – BG000

Vicki-WSPolarBearXmasTree-flat

I love the “woodsy” look to this image and I was trying to capture it in my design too.  I hope that you’ve enjoyed my Christmas card today and were inspired or helped bring you a smile!

World Card Making Day with Whimsy Stamps-Halloween Style!

Hello friends!  Happy World Card Making Day!  Woo hoo!!  What a perfect day to celebrate for us card makers, right?!  I’m so excited to celebrate a part of this special day with you using Whimsy Stamps products… especially in a Halloween style fashion!

World Cardmaking Day is a day dedicated to celebrating the art of handmade cards – whether made with construction paper and crayons or with more sophisticated supplies. As we crafters can all agree, a store-bought card, while nice, just can’t replace the personal and thoughtful nature of one made by hand.

Vicki-WSPenguinTOT-CCT596

Here’s a fun little treat in case you forgot about my Halloween creation post back in August with this fun Whimsy Stamps Penguin Trick or Treaters digital image!  (Please click on the “Halloween creation post” for further details!)

Thanks so much for dropping in today!

Whimsy Stamps New Release with 2 Christmas Tails

Hello friends!  It’s October 1st which also means it’s time for a brand-new release for Whimsy Stamps…I’m back to share a card I’ve made for the brand-new digital release at Whimsy Stamps.

Today I’m sharing a Christmas card I’ve made using an adorable image:

Vicki-WS2XmasTails-Oct1

These adorable critters are having some festive fun!  This image is by Crissy Armstrong called “2 Christmas Tails“.

This is an unusual size and card opening for me on this card, but I wanted to be sure that the image fit completely on the design I was creating.

So I started with a 4.5″ x 5.75” side folding white card base.  I took a piece of red foil paper and clear heat embossed the snowflakes over it from the Whimsy Stamps Basic Christmas Backgrounds clear stamp set.  I mounted this over a piece of gold foil paper, added the striped paper in the bottom corner, the oval cut image panel and tied a glitter ribbon around the layers and mounted it to the white card base.

I took the Whimsy Stamps Christmas Large Word die and cut it from some of the gold foil paper and layered it over top of the gold foil banner I created by black heat embossing the sentiment.  I finished it off with some snowflake rhinestones above the critters.

Vicki-WS2XmasTails-Oct1-close

Here’s a closer look at how I’ve colored in these adorable critters.  The photos never show everything about the details of the card, but it’s so cool in person! 🙂

I’ve used Copic markers to color this in.  Here are the colors that I’ve used:

  • Santa Hats & Candy Cane – R39, R37, R35, R32, BG000
  • Bunny – E35, E33, E31, E30, R20, R00, C3, C1, C0
  • Mouse – W7, W5, W3, W1, R20, R00
  • Bell – Y28, Y26, Y21, YG13, YG11
  • Ground/Shadows – E84, E81, C1, E0000

I used a white gel pen for highlights on the candy cane and parts of the bunny’s tail.  I also covered the bell with a glitter brush pen.  I took a glue pen and added some clear glitter over the hat trimmings.  To get the blue faded color around the image, I used the oval die I cut it out with as a “mask” to blend some blue distress ink softly over it.

Meow-lloween Party for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies

Meow friends! 🙂   It’s October and I’m always excited about this month because there are so many fun Fall activities that happen and I also really enjoy the Halloween atmosphere around this time.  I hope you’ll enjoy the fun right along with me!

Today, I’m excited to bring you my creation for a brand new challenge for this month over at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!  Remember that it’s always an “anything goes” challenge PLUS you need to use a critter on your creation!

This month we’re being sponsored by Beccy’s Place and was generous to supply the team with an image to play with:

Vicki-2CCC31-Beccy's Place

I just fell in love with this adorable kitty from the Scaredy Cats digital set.  I think he’s all dressed up and seriously ready to “get this meow-lloween party started“!!

So fun to pull out some Halloween papers and colors for this card.  I usually like to add in some purple somewhere if I can, so I found some ribbon and thought it matched up with kitty’s hat.

I couldn’t help but to add a few more elements to this kitty by taking a spider image from a Tim Holtz stamp set and adding it to kitty’s hat.  I also stamped the stars at the top along with the sentiment from a Simon Says Stamp Halloween stamp set from last year…I think.  The web up in the corner is an older die from my stash that I usually pull out for Halloween creations.

Vicki-2CCC31-Beccy's Place-close

Here you can see how I’ve colored up this fun kitty with Copic markers.  I’ve also colored the belt buckle on the hat with a gold gel pen.

I used some Wilted Violet to sponge around the edges of the kitty panel after I stamped the stars at the top.

While I was filling the sequins with gold Stickles, I added a few dots to the starry sky for just a bit more sparkle.

Vicki-2CCC31-Beccy's Place-flat

Hope you’ve enjoyed my fun “meow-lloween” card today!

Thanks so much for stopping in today my friends and be sure to check right back again here today as I have another post coming soon!

It’s Anything Goes for Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  Here we are with the first week of September already coming to the end!  Wow!  I think it may be time to start thinking about that “C” word! (Christmas of course!)

Today is a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday today and we have our first of the month “Anything Goes” challenge this week!  We our sponsored again by the lovely Whimsy Stamps, so be sure to enter for a chance to win a fun prize!

Here’s what I’ve made with our sponsor’s product:

Vicki-CCT598-WSPenMistletoe-Sept5

I’ve used this really sweet digital image from Whimsy Stamps called “Penguins Under the Mistletoe” and of course Crissy’s penguins are so fun to color up!

I have followed a sketch for my design using a challenge (see below) and have pulled out some older papers in my stash that I thought looked really festive and went with the colors I have picked out.

I white heat embossed the sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Holiday Mini Sentiments on the green colored layer and popped the image panel layered in red cardstock over top with some foam tape.

I’ve taken some silver glitter paper and die cut a few snowflakes from the Whimsy Stamps No-See All Season Tree die set along with cutting a strip for the top of the card too.

Vicki-CCT598-WSPenMistletoe-Sept5-close

Here’s a closer view of the image so you can see how I’ve colored it up.  I’ve used the following Copic colors below:

  • penguin bodies:  C8, C7, C5, C3, C1, R20, R00, Y38, Y35, Y32
  • Santa Hat and Candy Cane:  R39, R37, R35, R32, BG000
  • Mistletoe:  YG67, YG61 (berries are red Nuvo Drops)
  • Hat and Scarf:  BB26, B24, B21, BG000
  • Gift:  G09, G07, Y17, Y15, Y11
  • I used BG000 for snow ground shadows

I went around the edges of the image panel with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and the ink foam blending tool.  I ten took my quicky glue pen and added some dots for the snow as well as underneath the penguins and sprinkled on some glitter.

Anything BUT a Card for Cute Card Thursday – Calendars Finished!

Hello friends!  We are already here on the last Thursday of August!  I can’t believe we are already getting close to the end of the year soon!  Time seems to just go by so fast for me anymore!

Today stars a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and for this week we’d like to see your “Anything BUT a Card” creations!  We look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

So I bet you thought that I had forgotten about my finishing up those calendars?  Well as soon as I saw that this was the last week of the month, I went to try and find the next month and of course it wasn’t there!  LOL!  Then I realized that I needed to finish out these “Grumpy” calendars for the remainder of the year!  To see the past months I had already created, you can find all the posts by CLICKING HERE.  I had so much fun with these!  So here’s the last of them:

Vicki-CCT597-Calenders

I think these are fairly quick and easy to do, plus they’re so much fun putting together by creating the scenes for them and they give me giggles every time I look at it!  (There are days that we can relate to these guys, right?!)

Again, for all of these, I have used the Taylored Expressions 3×4 Calendar panels with the printed design at the top.  (of course mine are the 2019, but if you click on the link, it will take you to the 2020 calendars!)  I have slightly cut the edges off so that I could make a layered panel behind them and still keep the 3×4 size.

All images came from the Taylored Expressions Calendar Grumplings stamp set and coordinating dies.  I’ve used the sentiment from the set and made a banner with it that I’ve tucked underneath the elements from the Build-a-Scene Calendar dies.  I’ve colored all the critters with Copic markers.

Vicki-CCT597-calendars-Sept

The eyeballs on this dude are too funny!  I’ve white heat embossed the sentiment on this one over black to mimick a chalk board.  I added lines around the edges with a white gel pen.  I’ve popped up the grumpling with foam tape.  I’ve added some glossy accents over the apple in his hand.  This is my birthday month too!! Woo hoo!

Vicki-CCT597-calendars-Oct

BWHAA! HAA!!  This one is probably my fave not just because of the sentiment and the cute grumpling, but I love Halloween anyway.  I stamped the sentiment over some yellow cardstock and then punched it out with a circle punch so it looked in the shape of a moon and then die cut a couple of clouds to go around it.  I had a punch that punched out lots of stars and so I glued those on the background.  His broom handle was colored with a purple glitter gel pen and the frame was cut from some purple Glitterstock.

Vicki-CCT597-calendars-Nov

Oh yes, all of those leaves pile up about this time and there’s always tons of yard work to clean up along with all of those dead flowers before winter gets here…this is usually how I feel about it too!  The leaves at the bottom are from a sequins mix that I had.  I do love the different colors of leaves in the Fall!

Vicki-CCT597-calendars-Dec

Last, but not least is this funny “Bah Humbug” grumpling!  Things tend to get hurried this time of year for sure and by the time the end of the month rolls around, that’s about my take on it!  LOL!  I’ve used some white Nuvo Drops for the snow in the background.  The ground was die cut from Glitterstock.  The sentiment was punched out with a really old speech bubble punch I have.

Vicki-CCT597-calendars-last

I hope you’ve enjoyed catching all of the months of this year’s calendar with me as much as I had fun putting them together.  Now, the trick is to pull out the 2020 calendars and start working on that earlier than just as the time gets here! LOL!  Thanks for hanging in there with me for it!  Hopefully you’ve been inspired in some way or at least had a few smiles with the process!

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you soon!

Challenges:

Embossing for Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  I hope you’re having a great week so far!  Many thanks for the kind thoughts about my post yesterday and the video tutorial.  I think I get a bit nervous thinking I’m going to mess up instructions, but perhaps I’ll get the hang of it! 🙂

Today starts a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday!  This week it’s all about “embossing“!  Now there are a few different ways to emboss and I happen to love them all!  So you could do heat embossing, “dry” embossing with an embossing folder or even maybe do some embossing paste!  However you emboss it, we look forward to seeing what you come up with!  Here’s the card I made for the challenge:

Vicki-WSPenguinTOT-CCT596

TRICK OR TREATS?!!  Oh my word now how stinkin’ cute are these penguins?!  Don’t they look like they just rang your door bell for Halloween?! LOL!  That penguin image that I’ve used here is from Whimsy Stamps called Penguin Trick or Treaters and oh were they fun to color!

I was inspired to create with them for this embossing challenge, so I took a piece of Bristol Smooth Watercolor Paper and stamped the stars from the Whimsy Stamps Basic Christmas Backgrounds clear stamp set with a pigment black ink.  I covered it with clear embossing powder and heat set them.  Then I went over the stars with some distress inks (Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Wilted Violet & Blueprint Sketch)  and ink foam blending tool.  I also spritzed some water over it for the water droplet look.

All of the panels including the card base were cut from the Whimsy Stamps Notched Squares die set.  So I took the finished colored panel and attached it over a black die cut panel and then I took a piece of orange cardstock that was die cut and ran an embossing folder over it. I rubbed a white ink pad over it to pop out the details in the embossing and then I mounted it over the die cut black card base.

After coloring the penguins, they were fussy cut out and popped up with foam tape over the colored panel.  I had an older Halloween set of dies that I couldn’t part with from Whimsy Stamps and I cut out some bats from black cardstock and attached those to the starry background.  I also added some drops with some Tonic Studios Silver Glitter Accents for a bit of sparkle.

Vicki-WSPenguinTOT-CCT596-close

Here’s a closer look at these cute little trick-or-treaters and how I’ve colored them up.  I have used the following Copic markers to color them with:

  • Penguin bodies – C8, C3, C1, 0blender, R00, YR27, YR24, Y35, White gel pen
  • Pumpkin – YR27, YR18, YR14, YR21, R20, YG67, YG63, YG61
  • Candy Bag – E33, E31, E30, wrote letters with Copic liner
  • Sheriff Costume – E89, E87, E84, E81, W5, W3, W1, Silver gel pen
  • Pirate Costume – R39, R37, R35, R32
  • Witch Costume – V17, V15, V12, YR07, YR04, Silver gel pen

Vicki-WSPenguinTOT-CCT596-flat

I think these look like a fun group to go trick-or-treating with, don’t you?! 🙂

I hope  you’ve enjoyed my fun Halloween card today and were inspired in some way!

Never Fear, Super Penguin is Here!

Hello friends!  You ever have that certain someone in your life whenever you feel that things are falling apart, that there’s one individual that makes you feel everything is going to be alright?  It’s nice to know that you can always depend on that person to come when you call, right?  They deserve special recognition like a hand-made card that I’ve made today:

Vicki-PenguinSH-Aug20

Isn’t he adorable?!  This is the Penguin Superhero digital stamp released this month (previously released in red rubber) from Whimsy Stamps.  I have combined some older (retired) stamps from Whimsy Stamps along with some fun ink blending and coloring to come up with this design.

I’ve used some kraft colored ink to stamp the buildings on the panel behind penguin and then used some ink blending and distress inks for the little “sidewalk strip” the penguin is standing on along with the city scape sky.  I took a stencil to go over top of the the sky background.  I popped the  fussy cut penguin over top of that with some foam tape.  This was mounted over a black cardstock layer that was mounted over the card front base and popped up with foam tape.

To make the card front, I randomly stamped some images with white ink over a kraft colored card base that I matted onto a white layer which was then mounted over a black A2 sized top folding card base.  I took a strip of red cardstock and made my own banner with it using scissors.  I did the same for the sentiment banner in black cardstock that I white heat embossed over it.  Lastly, I took some silver stars and glued them on the design.

Vicki-PenguinSH-Aug20-close

Here’s a good close look at the coloring that I’ve done on this cutie.  Something different that I’ve done here is to color with both Copics and pencils on this one.  Basically the reasoning for doing this was because a couple of my Copic markers are running out of ink and it was hard to get the blend that I wanted…so I finished it off with Prisma colored pencils.  (I’m waiting for refills to arrive! LOL)  Here are the Copics that I used on my coloring:

  •  Penguin body – C8, C5, C3, C1, C0, R00, YR27, YR24, Y21
  • Cape, letters – R39, R37, R35, R32
  • Shirt – B39, B37, B34
  • Letter outline – Y38, Y35
  • blended with Prisma colored pencils on penguin body, cape and shirt

The penguin was fussy cut with scissors and popped up over the scene with foam tape.  I also gave the penguin’s shirt initials a bit of shimmer with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pen.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card with this sweet Whimsy Stamps Penguin!

Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll be posting again shortly…stay tuned!

I’m back! It’s Been a Rough Patch!

Hello friends! 🙂  Are you still with me out there?  (This is a bit of a long post to catch you up with what’s happened.)

Wow!  It sure has been a while since I’ve been able to even TRY to get back into things.  This was a really abrupt and rude unplanned disappearance from me and I was getting worried for a while about how I would even begin to start up again!  I actually feel pretty “rusty” and unpracticed from my absence and I have a few things to share with you too!

Firstly, I want to thank you ALL from the very bottom of my heart for your wonderful comments, personal e-mail, cards and social media contact that I’ve heard from many of you.  There were days that I just went to tears hearing from my fellow crafty friends as it came on a few days that I REALLY needed it the most!  I thank you SO MUCH for that and it really helped to get me though some difficult pain days.

So what happened was a worsening of something that I believed to be a minor back issue that I thought would resolve on it’s own, but the issue grew worse and more painful to the point that I couldn’t sit, stand, walk or even getting out of bed was painful enough that I had a procedure to try and control the nerve pain.  With this done, along with physical therapy and adjustments to my life style, I am feeling better now.  It’s not COMPLETELY pain free, but it’s tolerable enough to do normal tasks for a period of time until I need to move around again.  It’s just a life style adjustment that I can live with and hopefully fit in with what I love to do which is crafting!  It really bothered me to just “walk away”, but sometimes when your health is in trouble, you just have to do what you have to do and heal.  I have just learned that SEVERAL small breaks a day are better than none at all and I will pay for it later if I don’t!  🙂  Thanks for sticking it out with me!

———————————————————————-

And so with that, I would like to share a couple of things that actually took way longer to complete than what I would normally take the time to complete and it was actually the very last little bit that I had accomplished before I had to completely step out of my room for a while.  My husband wouldn’t let me go back in there until he was sure that I could tolerate my pain ok.  Still working through the exercises until my follow up Dr. appointment, but I think I’ll be fine from here…I sure hope so as I’m ready to ROCK N ROLL!!!  LOL

I had made a couple of masculine cards:

Vicki-Brutus Monroe-Rock ON

Although I don’t have a black light, if you hold up the card to a black light, the watercolor background that I made will glow!  It’s a pretty cool affect!

I took one of the foilable image panels from the kit and took several of the Neon Aqua Pigments and smooshed them over the background until I was happy.  I tried to foil over it, but it didn’t completely get all of it.  I added the strip of holographic paper at the bottom and the stamped elements along with the stars over it.  For the sentiment, I heat embossed it with the  EP that came in the kit and popped it up with foam tape.  My bro seemed to like it and I think those neon watercolors turned out pretty cool! 🙂

Vicki-NN-FathersDay

This is probably one of my all time faves from Newton’s Nook called Winston’s BBQ.  I think they have had this set for a while, but It’s a great one for masculine themed designs!

I’ve used a kraft cardstock background and stamped several of the images from the set all over the background with the same color of ink.  For the main panel, I stamped Winston, the grill and sentiment together and colored with my Copic markers.  I also sponged some blue ink around the edges of it for a “sky” looking appearance.

I’ve taken a strip of silver foil cardstock and ran an embossing folder through it to place across the center of the card.  I used some foam tape to pop up the image panel over top.  All of these layers were placed over an A2 sized white top folding card base.

Of course, last but not least, I wanted to share a card I had completed for a guest design card meant for June and that was completed at the end of May, but I was unable to share it before I had to leave for a while.  This is the card I gave to my husband for Father’s Day and he really does feel like my super hero! 🙂

Vicki-PNDSuperBoyDog-June15

Isn’t this just the cutest?!  I made this card using the adorable Paper Nest Dolls Superboy Owen and his sweet companion Superpuppy too!  I had so much fun blending the background in the different colors!  I added some blue stars stamped in the background.  the city scape behind him was made with a city scape die cut layered a couple of times.  I used some yellow cardstock behind the building for a lighted building affect.  The wall was made using some gray colored cardstock and then a brick stencil with some red ink colored embossing paste to over it with.  Then I just added the sentiment by white heat embossing it over a black strip that I die cut out.

Vicki-PNDSuperBoyDog-June15-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring I’ve done on the images.  I’ve used a silver gel pen to color in the buckle on his outfit.  I fussy cut the images out after coloring.

Here you can also see the splattering that I’ve done with some white shimmer paint in the background with the blue stars.

Other news

download

I actually got a bit of really cool news while I was down and thanks to a lovely craft friend, she tagged me and let me know about this, but my set of Whimsy Stamps “Bee cards” were shown in the Making Cards & Papercraft Magazine for August 2019!  Chosen as a “top spot” editor’s pick right inside the front cover!  I was very surprised and to see what was said about it along with my blog address was pretty cool!  So go get your copy of this magazine!  It’s my first time having a peek at it and they’ve got some pretty neat inspiration in there!

Although I have been in a great deal of pain and mainly dealing with what came with it, of course my husband was great at trying to “distract” me from it and trying to get me to smile as much as possible.  He knew first hand how I was feeling each day and like I mentioned above, he’s my super hero!  So there were a few fun or smiling moments here and there while I was being patient with myself as much as I could anyway.

Vicki-backyard fireworks

I wasn’t able to do much to celebrate 4th of July, but going out in my backyard, my neighborhood seemed to have a pretty cool display!  You can see the half moon at the bottom underneath the left side of the firework.  Needed bug spray, but it was a nice night!

Vicki-Styx Concert

Back in April, hubby and I had gotten some Styx concert tickets and I was worried about going due to the problems I was having.  Of course hubby said not to worry about it as our seats were great with no one behind us so I could sit, stand or whatever I needed to do!  It was loud enough with the music and it took my mind off things plus I could always clap and sing the songs!  🙂  We took a good break in the middle of it so I could move around away from the seat too.  It was a great concert!

Vicki-Black Eyed Susans

In my backyard, I have different flowers and I really enjoy going out in nature to see the flowers, birds, bees, etc.  The flowers this Summer really helped me relax, smile and just enjoy the beauty that is around.

Some days were absolutely horrible, but there are also these days too…

I’m soooo happy to finally be able to write up a post and now that I’m able to start getting back into my stamp room, I’m very excited to be able to come back to my design teams (who were ALL so absolutely wonderful with letting me have the time to heal and recover!  It meant so much!) and I will be along again soon to share new creations now!  Yay!  Hope everyone is doing well and I’ve missed you!

Wee Snippet & Mystic for Whimsy Stamps

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a wonderful week so far!  Thank you for all of your kind comments and wishes from my posts last week!  I really appreciate it so much!

Today I have a creation to share with you using a wonderful magical/mystical image from Whimsy Stamps:

I have used this gorgeous image called Wee Snippet & Mystic by Crissy Armstrong.  This was previously released as a rubber stamp, but this month it has become available in digital format too!

I sort of let the colors of the card pull together after I had colored in the image and then I went from there.  I thought that this image would look nice with a woodgrain theme, so I’ve also taken some of the Whimsy Stamps Rustic Wood and Brick digi papers collection and cut a section and layered it with some purple cardstock for behind the image panel.  I had some pretty green colored woodgrain papers with flowers on it from my stash and used that for the background of the card design which was mounted over an A2 sized top folding card base.  The white woodgrain panel has some metallic purple ribbon wrapped around it that I’ve attached to the background of the card.

I’ve used a die to cut some edging accents for the sides of the image panel with the same color of cardstock as the background layer.  I popped this up over the card design with some craft foam.  I then added a stitched banner piece at the top right of the card design that hung over the image panel and then I have die cut some flowers from the Whimsy Stamps No-See All Seasons Tree Die set, sponged some ink around the edges and added them to the design.  I took some Purple Nuvo Crystal Drops and added a dot to the center of each one.  I’ve also taken a sentiment from an older Whimsy Stamps set and stamped it in black in the bottom corner of the card.

Here’s a closer view of the coloring on the image.  I’ve used the Copic markers listed below to color with and then used a few gel pens to add details.  I took a glue pen and went over the horn on the unicorn as well as along the edges of the die cut image panel and sprinkled on some clear glitter.  Before attaching the glitter along the edges of the image panel, I used an ink foam blending tool and some Wilted Violet distress ink over it.

I tried to incorporate everything that I thought would bring out the “magical” essence of this image from the several layers with the paper, the glitter and metallic ribbon too.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I really appreciate you stopping by!  I’ll see you again soon!
