Cheerful Sketches Guest Designer “Gnomie”

Hello friends!  I think we’re getting closer and closer to Spring!  I sure am ready for it, how about you?  Let’s welcome the warmer weather and pretty flowers to come!

I had previously made a winner/top 3 for a challenge I had entered which was exciting to have also won a place to be a future guest designer for one of the challenges too.

So this month, I’m very excited to be joining my friends over at the Cheerful Sketches challenge blog as a guest and they always have a beautiful sketch along with lots of inspiration for it each month!  So please be sure to check them out and play along if you can!  Here’s the lovely sketch they’ve provided for me to work with this month:

This is a very nice sketch and open to lots of different interpretations as well, so I had fun playing with it along with an image that was provided to me from a current sponsor for the challenge and here’s what I came up with:

Everyone loves the gnomes and this one is too cute riding his snail friend!  I’m using the “Grumblebonce Rides Again” from Dr. Digi’s House of Stamps for my card today.  I’ve colored him up with Copic markers, added details with gel pens, glitter under the snail and glossy accents on the snail’s eyeballs.  I die cut the image with a stitched circle die and ink blended around the edges before attached to another loopy circle die cut from brown cardstock.

I found some fun papers fitting for the image with red plaids and a strip of mushrooms that I’ve attached over another loopy die cut strip I’ve had in my stash forever.  I wrapped some gold ribbon around it and attached to the red plaid papers that are attached to a 5″ square top folding brown card base.  Before attaching the red plaid papers, I used a distress tool to rough up the edges.  I’ve popped up the image with foam tape and added 3 gold enamel dots in the upper right corner.

With the card now laying flat, you can better see some of the shine from the sentiment at the bottom.  I found these fun gnome style sentiments that can be foiled.  So I used some gold foil and ran the strip through my Minc Machine.  I sponged some blue and brown inks over it and then added some die cut mushrooms behind it and layered a piece of brown cardstock to layer behind it.

I placed the mushroom sentiment at the bottom with a portion of it with foam tape and the other parts just glued to the circle sentiment panel.  I think it turned out pretty cute and I had fun coloring it up!

So please be sure to check out the challenge and come play along!

Thanks so much for dropping in and I’ll see you soon!

Guest Designer for *Cheerful Sketches*!

Hey there friends! I’m so excited to share with you my project I’ve made for the September *Cheerful Sketches* blog challenge as a guest designer for this month! Please be sure to check out the original September challenge post for details and where to link up your project.

Here’s the project that I’ve made with the sketch photo and image that was provided to me:

This darling little image is by Colour of Love Shop called Li’l Fidget Unicorn Girl – A Daisy Thing and you can click on the link to see/purchase image in the shop if you’re interested.  They’re sponsoring the *Cheerful Sketches* challenge for this month, so be sure to check out all of the wonderful inspiration from the team over there!

Here is the sketch for September you need to follow:

I have used the sketch for inspiration on how to layout my card here after I colored her up and then cut her out with a circle die.  I also ink blended around the edges for a bit of color and then I found some pretty papers in my stash to cut out wih die and accent the circle image panel as well.  I’ve used a Spellbinders scallop circle die as well as a MFT older die frame no longer available.

I had some pretty fairy style papers in my stash and I’ve added those as well as more of the papers from my layered die cut circle from Brutus Monroe called Mermaid Skin Cardstock and lavendar cardstock from my stash.  I then added some pretty flowers as well as sequins and glitter over the design.

I’ve also stamped a “Make a Wish” sentiment in the bottom right corner of the card.

Here’s a closer look at the Copic coloring I’ve done on the image.  I’ve added some glitter to her unicorn horn on the top of her head and I’ve used several different gel pens to add dots and details to the image as well.  It was very hard for me NOT to use a purple color on her for the flowers…so I think it incorporated well into the design.

You can also see the wonderful shine over that Mermaid Skin cardstock I’ve used to!  It’s just beautiful when you’re holding it in person!

You can also see where I’ve taken some Ranger Stickles to fill the centers of the sequins and add additonal drops.

Sometimes it’s fun to just sit and color up gorgeous images like this and I think this was a really good one to practice along with the sketch!  I really hope that you’ve enjoyed it as well and has brought you some inspiration today!

Please be sure to play along with the talented people over at *Cheerful Sketches* this month!  Thank you for stopping by and I’ll be seeing you again soon!

Cheerful Sketches Guest Designer

Hello friends!  Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend!  I just got back from a lovely weekend trip with hubby and we had such a great time visiting over in Hannibal, MO.  This was something we both really needed to just get away for a bit and it was wonderful to be able to go and do something fun!

Today I’m sharing my creation I made as a guest designer for the Cheerful Sketches challenge blog.  (I had won a spot with one of my creations I had entered.)  I was also shared the sketch and an image to work with:

The was a company that I have heard of before, but this is the first time that I have actually colored one up.  This is from the My Bestie Shop in their Harvest Collection called Harvest Besties Doll 25.

Here’s the sketch below that was provided for me to follow:

Cheerful Sketches10-2019

I took the image and colored it up and cut it out the size I needed for my card and layered it with some dark brown cardstock.  I took some sunflower style papers from my stash and placed a piece over a 5.5″ square dark brown top folding card base.

I cut out a couple of squares for each corner of the card and layered a scallop die cut square to each one with some orange colored cardstock.  I also took a strip of this same orange cardstock and attached it diagonally across it.

Lastly, I took the image panel and wrapped some seam binding ribbon around it with a bow, twine and button.  For the seam binding ribbon, I spritzed it with water and crinkled it up a bit and let it dry before adding to my card.  I then added some Fall Prima flowers around the design.

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve colored her up with Copic markers.  For the gold glittery details in the Fall sentiment and around her (including the buttons on her shoes), I’ve taken a Quickie Glue Pen to color it in with and then added some pretty Fall gold glitter over it.

The edges of this image panel were sponged with some Tea Dye Distress Ink and then sprayed with water for the water dropplet marks.

She has put me in the mood to go to the pumpkin patch and bring one home!
