A Unicorn with Sprinkles & Rainbows for Dare to Get Dirty

Hello again today my friends! Yes, still posting and with another “twofer post” again today! It will calm down eventually, but for now I have lots of things to share with you!😀

As you may have read in my second post from yesterday, we kicked off the “Dare to Get Dirty” Event over at Splitcoaststampers and I shared the card I made for one of the challenges. I have another creation to share with you that I made for one of the challenges released today and this one is for the lovely Lori:

This really brought out the little girl in me when creating this card with the rainbow colors and magical scene! This sweet little unicorn image along with the rainbow in the background and the sentiment all come from the Digi Doodle Studios Unicorn Wishes Pairables set. I’ve printed them out, colored them with Copic markers and fussy cut them out with the exception of the sentiment which I left and cut out as a cloud with my Lawn Fawn Cloud Border dies. I’ve also used that die to cut some clouds from a piece of vellum and an additional piece of white cardstock.

I’ve used an older My Favorite Things Stitched Rainbow die from white cardstock that I colored with Copic markers to place behind the first set of clouds behind the unicorn. Before layering my clouds, I took some distress ink and blending tool to add a bit of blue shadow behind them. After attaching all the cloud and rainbow layers, I cut it out with the MFT Blueprints 27 die set .

Lastly, I’ve attached this layer over an A2 sized white top folding card base and popped up the fussy cut unicorn with foam tape. I took some random sequins to attach over the design.

Here’s a closer view of some of the details in the card. I added some loose glitter over the unicorn’s wings with a 2-way glue pen and some loose glitter. Hard to tell, but I’ve also added some shimmer to the rainbows and the unicorn’s mane with a glitter brush pen. I also added a bit more blue cloud shadow under the unicorn’s feet before attaching him on the card.

This was really fun to create and I know it will make a fun card to share.

Thanks so much for dropping in!

Bringing You Joy With Digi Doodle Studios

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  It’s getting closer to the big day now!  Only 11 more days until Christmas!  If you’re like me, then you wait until the last possible minute to mail out all of your Christmas cards!   So guess what MY plans are this weekend?! LOL!  Have you got all of your Christmas done and ready to go?  I keep telling myself that NEXT year I will be prepared! LOL!

To help inspire those that are still looking for a fun and simple Christmas card, I have a cute one to share with you today using a Pairables set from Digi Doodle Studios:

Vicki-DDSWintertimePenguins-Joy

You probably remember not too long ago the fun tags I made on THIS POST.  I’ve used that same Pairables Wintertime Penguins digital set that I’m using on my card today!  I love that you can get a whole set of digital stamps that coordinate together so that you can use them to create fun scenes or have them doing different things!  Do you recognize the sled that this penguin is pulling full of gifts?  I took that same sled image and used it as “ice skates” for the penguins feet on my tags in the previous post!  That’s how fun and versatile this set can be!

This time my card is really simple.  I just arranged the images how I wanted them on my computer and printed it out.  I printed it again over some masking paper so that I could mask off the images to create my background.

To create the background, I ripped a piece of the masking paper to go along the bottom of the die cut panel after I masked off the images.  I used ink blending for the background and then spritzed with water and dried it with a towel.  I then took watered down white paint and splattered it for the snow effect.

Once it was dry, I removed the masks and colored up the images, made the sentiment (also from this same digital set) banner and mounted both pieces with some red cardstock which was mounted over an A2 sized white card base.  I added some glitter to the snow ground at the bottom and on the penguin’s hat.  Topped it off with some twine and a snowflake rhinestone.

Vicki-DDSWintertimePenguins-Joy-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring details of the penguin and his sleigh full of gifts.  I used a white gel pen for dots on the one present and his cheeks.  I also took some pencils for a few highlights.

I kept this card flat except for the sentiment banner so that I can mail it better.  You could even leave it more flat than that if you prefer.

Vicki-DDSWintertimePenguins-Joy-flat

If you know me, then you know how much I love penguins.  I have a special collection of stamps and will probably always keep them around.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and perhaps this little cutie has brought you some joy too!

Thanks so much for stopping in today friends!  See you soon!

I’ve Been Published!

Hey friends!  This is just a quick post to share my excitement with you about having a card I made for Whimsy Stamps published in the December 2019 “Handpicked” article on p. 38 of the Making Cards & Papercraft Magazine!

Vicki-published in Making Cards magazine

I would’ve shared this a bit sooner, but I wanted to take a photo of the issue in hand with me here.   The stamp set that I’ve used for my card is from the brand new December release at Whimsy Stamps called “Winter Wonderland“.  It’s a clear stamp set with lots of really sweet snowman images in it!  It’s one of my faves from the new release too!

Vicki-WSmagazine-WinterWonderland

Here’s a photo of it that I took myself before sending it along to the magazine back in October.  🙂

I won’t go into great detail about it, but I’ve also paired this with the Whimsy Stamps Winter’s Magic Blue Digital Papers Collection as well as the Whimsy Stamps No-See All Seasons Tree die set (snowflakes only die) for my card design.

If you get the magazine, then you can see below in the article how it was put together.

Here’s a closer view of the image and you can see the bits of glitter over it.

This was just a really fun card to make and quite simple to put together too!  I really enjoyed it and how fun to get published with it as well!

Thanks so much for stopping in and letting me share my excitement with you!

P.S.  I have a spot along the sidebar of my blog where there will be a photo of the magazine to click on my blog post link in case you’re interested about my card.

It’s Party Time!

Hello friends!  It’s been sort of a crazy few days with our weather!  Usually it’s pretty warm and sunny, but we’ve been having some severe rain and cooler temps.  Plus more rain coming, so I guess I’ll be in my craft room playing!  🙂

Today I have this happy party fellow from Whimsy Stamps to share with you:

Vicki-WSPenguin Bday Party-May21

Isn’t he adorable?!  This image is called Penguin Birthday by Crissy Armstrong.  This was previously released as a rubber stamp, but this month it has been released in digital format so you can have either option available!

I have cut him out with the Whimsy Stamps Notched Squares die set and cut an additional piece in black cardstock for a layer behind him.  For the base of my card, I’ve used a green colored 5″ square top folding card base and attached a piece of striped paper across the lower section and sponged some white ink along the edges of the green card base panel.  I then used a piece of 1/2″ score tape across the top of the striped strip panel and then used some fun glitter over top of it and burnished into the tape.

I’ve also used this same glitter to go over the Whimsy Stamps Happy Large Word die cut out from some double-sided sticker paper.  I white heat embossed the “birthday” over a strip of black cardstock that I’ve cut into a banner and placed it directly underneath the glittered word die.  This came from the Happy Everything Clear Stamp set.

Vicki-WSPenguin Bday Party-May21-close

Here’s a closer look at the coloring I’ve done on this cutie.  You can also see the fun details of the glitter that I’ve used on the word die.  I love the sort of “confetti flex” contained in this glitter.  It’s something I got in a sample size from a card kit a couple of months ago and it’s great for birthdays! 🙂  Hard to see in the photo, but I’ve also used a clear glitter pen to go over the balloon and present.  I sponged around the image panel with some of the same green ink that I’ve used for the card base cardstock color.  I’ve used the following Copic markers to color him with:

  • Penguin – C8, C5, C3, C1, R00, R000, YR27, YR24, Y32
  • Balloon, party hat, present – YG01, YG11, YG13, V17, V15, V12
  • Shading, shadows, ground – C3, C1, E0000

It’s always nice to have a good selection of birthday cards on hand when you need to hurry up and send one out and I think this one is great for any gender or age.

Challenges:

  1.  Little Red Wagon – Happy “BIRD”day!
  2. Creative Fingers – Anything Goes
  3. QKR Stampede – #348 Anything Goes
  4. Allsorts – Happy Birthday!!!
  5. Seize the Birthday – Anything Goes + toppings=Balloons!!

P.S.  I know that many of you have been asking for updates on the bird nest situation and so here’s another photo of what we were able to capture:

20190520_185442

After the flowers were done blooming, we were able to get more of a clear shot and CAREFULLY get close enough to get the mother Robin sitting on her nest!  Like I had mentioned, she doesn’t like it when we go out there.  She chirps at us and waits for us to leave.

20190520_184645

Here is one of her standing in the nest.  We think that she may have hatched those eggs as it looks like she might be feeding the babies!  So next time we’ll check back in and see if we can get a look at those babies in there! 🙂

Hope you’ve enjoyed my post today!  Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you soon!!

Another Pot O’ Gold!

Hi there friends!  I guess I am really feeling the luck of the Irish this week!  I have another fun St. Patrick’s Day themed card to share today:

Vicki-SNSPotOGold

My card here may seem a bit simple, but it has a few really fun added extras to really make it shinny and glittery!  I have used Lil Leprechaun (Digital only stamp set).   I took the pre-colored versions of the set and arranged them in a blank Word.doc for how I wanted it to appear on my card front.  I used the clover images and resized them to fit around the bottom of the pot of gold area and then placed the sentiment where I wanted it off to the side.

I then printed it out and then cut it out with the Nuvo Basics Rectangle dies.

I used a couple of Copic green markers to make the “blades of grass” next to the pot of gold and clovers.  I also used some colored chalk to sponge in some colors for the rainbow behind the pot of gold.

Vicki-SNSPotOGold2

Here you can also see on the panel where I’ve taken some Super Thick Gold EP and sprinkled some in the corners of my image panel and then heat set it from underneath.

I also took a Nuvo Precision Glue Pen to add some “dots” in the center of the clovers and then of course used the Shamrock Glitter to go over them!  I also covered the coins in the pot with the glue and sprinkled some Champagne Glitter over them for some sparkle!

With the same Champagne Glitter that I used on the coins in the pot, I also took some Sticker Paper and covered an entire panel with it and burnished it in!  The shimmer and glitz on this are stunning in person and really sets off the card!  I’ve also used the Glitter Brush to take away the excess glitter particles and it’s a must have for clean up too!  (Instead of clinging to the brush, it repels it away!)  These sheets are somewhat thin, so I made sure that I’ve added some layers of cardstock in between this glitter panel for stability to the card.  (Keep this in mind if you are using the sticker paper for this idea.)

Vicki-SNSPotOGold-flat

I tried to capture some of the sparkle in the photo, but it really looks brilliant when you are holding it in person! 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I really appreciate you stopping in!

  1.  Crafting With an Attitude – Anything Goes
  2. Creative Moments – Anything Goes
  3. QKR Stampede – Anything Goes #338

Imagine…You’re Home!

Hello friends!  I have to say that I’m very happy that we’ve started the month of March and I really look forward to seeing the bit of green and growth soon to come!

Today, I have a card using this new stamp set:

Vicki-SNSCottage

Today, my card features this really fun Lil Garden Cottage rubber stamp set.  I have colored it up with my Copic markers and I’ve used the packaging from the stamp set to help with color suggestions.  (I really like that when stamp sets have a colored version on their product labels!)

Since last year I’ve been noticing lots of “fairy garden” projects, and I am amazed at how many “tiny” items that are available to purchase so that you can create your own little garden!  This image sort of reminds me of that!  I think I like creating my own little “fairy garden” on paper! 🙂  Do any of you like to make Fairy Gardens?

For the base of my card, I’ve used an A2 sized top folding kraft card base.  I took my VersaMark ink to stamp the tiny mushroom images from the set along the bottom edge of the base.  I also took another piece of kraft cardstock and heat embossed part of the sentiment with the White EP and then cut it out from a circle die.  I set these pieces aside while working on the rest of my card.

Vicki-SNSCottage3

After coloring in the image, I also took the other portion of the sentiment “Imagine…” and stamped it next to the cottage image, but then heat set that one with the Coffee EP.  I also took an additional piece of white cardstock to layer behind the image panel.  For that piece, I took my VersaMark ink pad and sponged along the edges of it and also heat set that with the same Coffee EP as well.  You can also see at the top of the image panel that I’ve lightly blended in some distress ink to soften up the white a bit.

For the sparkly twine at the top, I created it by taking the 1/4″ Tear Tape and twisting it on itself and then I ran it through some Shamrock Glitter.  I took a piece of it to make a bow and then glued it over my design.

I took some craft foam to pop up this image panel a bit before attaching it to the kraft card base.  I also took some more craft foam to pop up the side of the circle sentiment panel as well.

Vicki-SNSCottage2

To add a bit of detail to my image and make it my own, I stamped, colored and fussy cut out each of the mushrooms as well as the snail and then attached them where I wanted them to show up on my image panel.

I used the Nuvo Precision Glue Pen to “color in” the areas where I wanted it to be green and then sprinkled some of that Shamrock Glitter over those areas.  I took the Nuvo White Crystal Drops to add a few “dots” over the red mushroom.  I then took the Nuvo Morning Dew Crystal Drops (dries clear) and filled in the “window” on the cottage as well as the “snail shell” to add some shine to it.

Vicki-SNSCottage4

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and that you’ve been inspired!

Thanks so much for dropping in today!!  I’m so hoping that I can get back into catching up with you and getting caught up on entering challenges!  I do miss all of this!

Wishing you a happy day!

Find Peace with a Winter Deer

Hello friends!  As I had mentioned in yesterday’s post, we are currently being hit with snow AND ice over my way…so I might as well embrace it, right?!   Although I’ve been trying to sneak in some Spring creations, I also enjoy creating Christmas/Winter cards throughout the year so that I can take my time and not be hurried during the rush of the Season at the end of the year which makes it more enjoyable…and peaceful! 🙂

I’m using a stamp set called Winter Deer which I’ve used on my card for today:

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb

I started out with a piece of watercolor paper and used the Blue Blitz and Atlantis Burst Nuvo Shimmer Powders to create the background by spritzing it with water until I achieved the look I wanted and set aside to dry.

I cut this panel out with an oval die and using my cut-out deer for reference to see where I wanted to position the sentiment, I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with White EP.  I used some Magic Speckle EP for a really cool background effect over the watercolor panel! (You can see it better in the photos below.)  I’ve used both Dimensional Glue as well as foam dots to attach the deer image and oval layers together.  I’ve used both white cardstock as well as some gold mirror cardstock for the layered panels.

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb-Close

Here’s a closer look at the Copic coloring I’ve done on the deer as well as the Magic Speckle EP effect on the background!  Since it’s a thicker type of powder, I didn’t attach it with anything.  I just added “piles” of it where I wanted and melted it from underneath, so it didn’t blow all over.  Loving how it has that “icy look” to it!

For the deer, I’ve used my Tim Holtz 5″ Mini Scissors to VERY carefully cut this image out and then used a black marker to go along the edges to hide my imperfections. For the snow over the branches, I’ve used a Nuvo Precision Glue Pen to go over it and then sprinkle some Sparkling Snow Glitter over it.  I also took the Nuvo Red Berry Crystal Drops and covered the “berries” with it.  I set this aside until dry to work on the rest of my card.

Vicki-SnSWinterDeer-Feb-Flat

So for the glittery background panel behind the oval layers, I took a piece of white cardstock and attached it with a piece of the Adhesive Sheets and die cut it out with a scallop rectangle die.  I removed the release paper from it and burnished some of the same Sparkling Snow Glitter into this panel.  I attached it over another piece of gold mirror cardstock and then wrapped some organdy ribbon around it and attached a bow along the side.

In the center of the bow, I added a snowflake sequin and then put a dot of the Dimensional Glue in the center of it and then added some more of the Sparkling Snow Glitter.

These layers were attached to an A2 sized top folding white card base and then the oval layers were attached over the glitter panel next to the bow.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and got inspired to keep ahead of making your Christmas cards this year!  Thank you so much for dropping in!  I really appreciate your kindness and support so much!!  (Reading your comments always brightens my day more than you know! HUGS)

2 Crafty Critter Crazies February Challenge is Here!

Hello friends!  Today starts our new February challenge over at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!  Remember that this is an always ANYTHING GOES challenge, but you must include a critter somewhere on your project to enter!

Here’s what I’ve created for the challenge:

vicki-ribbonsoflove-glittercard-project4

I have used this digital stamp set called Ribbons of Love.

For this card, I’ve used the uncolored images and placed the images together how I wanted them to appear in a Word doc and then printed it out.  I printed out an extra butterfly so that I could cut it out and pop it up over the design for dimension.  All of the butterflies were colored with Copics.

For the background of my card, I took some Lace and placed it over top of a piece of cardstock that I’ve covered with a Super Adhesive Sheet.  I then sprinkled some Caspia Sea glitter and burnished it over the lace layer.  (Sometimes I use the backing from the adhesive sheet to help burnish it in.)  After I felt it was burnished in, I removed the lace layer and sprinkled on some Lemonade glitter over the rest which gave me the unique glittery lace background!  As you can see, I’ve also taken a small strip of it to add to my design.  I have layered that piece with a strip of black fishtail banner and tied a white ribbon bow to attach over it.  The butterfly image panel was cut, layered with black cardstock and attached over the middle of the glittery background which as also layered with black cardstock and attached to an A2 sized white top folding card base.

vicki-ribbonsoflove1

Looking more closely at the card, you can better see the glittery background along with the coloring on the butterflies.  The two butterflies at the top were brushed with some Glue and then I sprinkled some Diamond Dust glitter over top of their wings for a bit more sparkle.  I glued the center of the yellow butterfly down and popped up the wings with my finger for a bit of dimension.

Thanks for stopping in… stay tuned in for my next special post!!

Celebrate for a Hoppy New Year!

Happy New Year friends!!  Here’s wishing for a very HAPPY, HEALTHY and CRAFTY 2019 to you all!!

So… to be festive and join in on the celebration everywhere, I’ve decided to make a special card just for the occasion! 🙂

Vicki-SNS-challengeblog

I’ve used this really fun digital stamp called Max and I have used my Prisma Color pencils to color him in with over some Canson Mi-Teintes Pastel paper.  I cut him out with a circle die and then ran some glue around the edges with a Nuvo Medium Tip Glue Pen and sprinkled some Copper Jewel Glitter over it.  I mounted another circle behind it that I’ve cut out with some Tonic Burnished Rose Mirror Cardstock.

For the background of my card, I’ve used some Adhesive Sheets that I’ve cut out in different sized circles and then added some of the same glitter that I’ve used for around the frog image panel.  I cut a few more circles out with the same mirror cardstock as well.

Before attaching the circles, I’ve heat embossed the sentiment over the A2 sized top folding black card base with some bronze Rose embossing powder, which I think matches up beautifully with that mirror cardstock!  Right underneath the embossed sentiment, I added some 1/4″ Tear Tape and sprinkled on some more of that pretty glitter that I’ve used all over this card.  Then I added all the circles in the background including the frog image panel and cut off the circle part sticking over the edge on the right side.

Vicki-SNS-challengeblog-close

Taking a closer look at the “party Max frog”, you can see better how he’s colored in and a few other details that I’ve added to him.  For the olive shine, I’ve used some Nuvo Morning Dew Crystals Drops and for the “liquid” glass he’s sitting in, I’ve taken the Nuvo Medium Tip Glue Pen and sprinkled some Waterscape glitter over it.  I’ve also used the Nuvo Gold Coast Glitter Drops to add a bit of sparkle around Max’s head.  (I’m assuming that it’s a bit of “champagne pops” from the glass!  Tee Hee!)

Vicki-SNS-challengeblog-flat

Just like Max here, I’m just as happy to dive right into the New Year in 2019!

Thanks so much for dropping in!!  Enjoy your first day in 2019!
