Autumn Leaves & Pumpkins for Sparkles Monthly

Hello friends!  I hope that your October month is going well so far.  We’re starting to get some noticeably cooler temps in the forecast as we creep towards Halloween at the end of the month.  Love this time of year when those leaves start showing their pretty colors as they fall from the trees!  We should be getting that soon as well to clean up the yard! LOL

This brings us to a new monthly challenge over at Sparkles Monthly and we have the theme of “AUTUMN LEAVES & PUMPKINS  this month.  I look forward to seeing all of the projects in the gallery for this one.  Here’s what I came up with:

I fell in love with this cute scarecrow from Newton’s Nook called Autumn Fields and I knew that I wanted to use it for this challenge.  I colored up the image along with a few pumpkins and cut them out in the coordinating dies.  I was going to add a couple of leaves for the background, but I thought it would be cool to pull out the NN Fabulous Fall Toner Card Fronts and ink blend over it for the background.  So I gold foiled the background and blended some various inks to create the background scene for the scarecrow.

I die cut a grassy hill border from Lawn Fawn and inked the blades with a gold ink pad and layered that onto my foiled leaves background.  I tucked in the scarecrow and pumpkins for grounding and then white heat embossed a sentiment (from the scarecrow set) that was cut out with a banner die (from MFT- closed).  I also used the gold ink pad around that as well.

I cut out the entire layered panel with a cross-stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn and then used a scalloped rectangle die from Taylored Expressions cut from white cardstock to layer behind it.  I attached everything to an A2 side folding card base in the Latte color from Taylored Expressions.

  • Hope you’ve enjoyed my card and will hop on over to the challenge blog to check out what the rest of the design team has made for inspiration.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY TODAY!!

September AJ Page-Thankful Imprint

Hello friends!  Can you believe we’re already through September?!  Today is a scheduled post from me as I’m away in an area with spotty to no connection right now, but wanted to be sure that I had my Art Journal Page posted for this month.

It’s also hard to believe that this is the 9th page done for this year!  I’m so glad I’ve done the monthly Art Journal Page collaboration with my crafty friend, Carol (from Crafty-Stamper)! We get creative trying to use up our never-ending stash piles along with a prompt for each month.  I know she always has great inspiration to share, so please check out her blog too! Here’s my AJ page with the “SMASH OUR STASH” September prompt of “IMPRINT” (using gel plate, print machine, leaves or something to create an impression):

Really had a fun time with this as I hadn’t gotten a chance to play around with my gel plate very much and I received about 15 different prints in one sitting!  It started out like I didn’t have a clue, but the more I kept experimenting, the more fun and unique prints came out.  Do you have a gel plate and/or do you use it often? (If you’re new to Gel Printing, here’s a link to a You Tube video showing you basics on how to get started The Basics of Gel Printing)

For my print here, I decided to try something from nature and found a couple of maple leaves in my yard that were laying on the ground starting to turn.  I think there are about 3 layers of prints on this one…hard to remember when you just keep going!  I cut it out to fit the size of my AJ page.

FOR THE BACKGROUND – I started with my usual 6″ x 9″ Canson 140# cold pressed watercolor paper with pre-punched holes at the top and covered it with DecoArt media fluid acrylic Primary Cyan applied with a baby wipe.  Really love the blue background it gave here.  Then this is when I applied the gel print piece to my background.  I then used some orange, black and white colored acrylic paints to create some splatters over the background and gel print piece.

I die cut some maple looking leaves from the Taylored Expressions Garden Variety-Fall die set and ink blended them.  I also splattered some orange paint over them as well.  I had some gold glitter sheets that I cut down in a couple of thin strips to add to the top and bottom of my gel print piece.  I then attached the die cut maple leaves.

I cut out the word “Thankful” from Impression Obsession three times in Pumpkin cardstock and layered them together for my page.  I also grabbed this sentiment from the Tim Holtz small talk stickers and layered it over the same Pumpkin cardstock and attached it next to the “Thankful” word on the page.

I thought about adding something more, but I then thought it would distract from the printing which already has a “busy” look to it and so I called this one done.

  • I’m very THANKFUL that you’ve taken the time to stop by and your kind support!  It’s always more fun to craft with like-minded friends!  I’m also THANKFUL to my crafty friend Carol for sharing this monthly AJ fun with me as well!  (I will stop by to see your page as soon as I can my friend!)

Have a great day and see you in October! 😊

September AJ Page-Embrace Change

Hello friends!  As of Thursday, Fall has begun!  It actually really does feel like Fall with the cooler temps settling in on exactly that same day too!  I’m looking forward to all of the wonderful changes it brings with it!  I enjoy going out in nature and seeing the trees change into their colors.

It’s also that time for a monthly Art Journal page and collaboration with my crafty friend, Carol (from Crafty-Stamper), so please check out her blog for more inspiration too!🥰  We’re trying to get creative by using up our never-ending stash piles!  So here’s my Art Journal inspiration with the “SMASH OUR STASH” September prompt of “ANY kind(s) of scrap papers!” :

Like many crafters out there, I’m sure we all have those never-ending piles of papers! I especially have a very extensive collection of pattern papers and MANY within those piles of little left-over pieces that never seem to get used and just thrown back into the package!  I not only have packages, but I also have several card kits that ALSO have packages of papers in them too…so I pulled out a past kit and was happy that I’ve used pretty much all of the left-over scraps from it!  One down and a trillion to go!!😅

For the Background:  The page is a 6″ x 9″ Canson 140# cold-pressed paper with the holes prepared at the top for later book binding.  I’ve used Distress Oxide Sprays and used the left-over spray on my glass mat with water until I soaked up all the ink.  I’ve also splattered some Gold and Ivory acrylic paints over top once dry.  I stamped a couple of the tiny leaves with green ink for a bit of depth in the background.

Vicki-SYS-SeptAJ-paper scraps-close

For the Image Elements:  I used the Simon Says Stamp “Woodland Whimsy” stamp set to paper piece all of the image elements with the tall trees on the right, the leaves, the bear, the bear’s belly and ears, also with the berry and leaf branches next to him.  The trees were fussy cut with scissors and the other images were cut with coordinating dies.  I’ve used Copic markers to add a bit of depth and dimension to some of it. Some were glued down while some were popped up with foam squares.  I’ve also taken the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Leaves dies to cut out a few extra and sponged around them to add to the scene.  I’ve also used the same papers I’ve used to cut those leaves out and added it as a layer behind the two sentiment quote squares.  The quote was printed out from my computer and the “Autumn” sentiment was cut out from pattern papers using the Lawn Fawn henry’s ABCs dies along with more papers to make an “off-set” shadow behind them.

The “ground” was just fussy cut with scissors and ink sponged around the edges.  Lastly, I’ve taken some gold Stickles to create “berries” on the leaf branches and randomly over the page.

I really enjoyed creating this page as it has inspired me to go out in nature for a walk!  I sure hope you’ve enjoyed it as well!  Thanks for stopping in today!

A {Cupcake Inspirations} Color Combo Reminder with a Slimline

Hello there friends!  I hope that you’ve had a wonderful weekend!  It’s slowly getting cooler as we go along with this month and even some snow in the forecast.  I love the Autumn Season and will try to hold onto it for as long as I can!  So, with that, I’d like to remind you about the halfway point of our challenge:

There are still a few days left to enter your project for the Yellow, Orange and Red color combo challenge over at {Cupcake Inspirations} so I hope that you can join along with us!

Today, I have a fun Autumn style slimline card to share with you today using the beautiful color combo:

So, I’ve been wanting to pull out my Aqua Pigments to have some watercolor play time!  I pulled out a piece of Bristol Smooth watercolor panel that I cut down to a slimline size approximately 3.25″ x 8.25″ because I knew that I would be layering it over top of a Raven top folding 3.5″ x 8.5″ slimline card base.

The Aqua Pigments that I’ve used on this background have a gorgeous sparkle in them and I’ve tried to capture that in the photo, but it’s so sparkly and pretty in person!  I’ve used Sparkle Yellow, Heirloom Carrot (subscription only) and Firecracker (subscription only) Aqua Pigments that I’ve dripped randomly over my glass mat, sprayed with some water for more movement and “smooshed” the panel over it and let them run and drip together.  Once dried, I’ve splattered over it with gold and black paints.

A while back, I got me the beautiful Leafy Slimline Die from Pink and Main that I cut out with some brushed gold cardstock from my stash I’ve had for quite a while.  I also used the Blessings Slimline Dies to cut the sentiment including the shadow underneath with vellum and the words with Raven cardstock glued down over the leaves.

I’ve added the leaves frame die cut over the watercolor background and mounted it to the card base.  Lastly, I’ve added some sequins and crystals from an Autumn mix embellishment pack.  I filled the centers of the red sequins with some Nuvo Red Berry Crystal Drops.

Hope you’ve been inspired today with my slimline design!  Thanks so much for dropping in and please be sure to stop by and check out more inspiration using the color combo over on the {Cupcake Inspirations} Challenge blog to see more!  I’ll be seeing you soon!

Beautiful Autumn Color Combo for {Cupcake Inspirations}

Happy Monday morning friends!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  The weather has actually been really beautiful this past week and it was wonderful to get outside and look at the pretty colors of the trees changing around us.  I know that it won’t last long, and the temperature will begin to really drop soon…so always need to enjoy it while it’s still here!

Today begins a brand-new challenge over at {Cupcake Inspirations} and there is a beautiful color palette to inspire your creativity to play along with us!  We’d love to see the colors:  Red, Orange and Yellow on your creations this time and we look forward to seeing what you come up with!  Here’s what I’ve come up with for this week’s inspiration:

I fell in love with these cool dies that were included in a past card kit and thought they would be perfect to use for pairing with some blended inks in a background!

I started with a watercolor panel and used Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Crackling Campfire and Fired Brick Oxide Inks to blend over it.  I spritzed over it with water to form the droplet watermarks and once dried, I splattered the panel with both gold and black acrylic paint using a fan brush.  Once this panel was finished drying, I put each leaf die cut down to cover my panel and die cut it, but left them in place.  While leaving the leaves in place, I used the MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die and cut out the panel with it.

I wanted the leaves to stand out a bit more in the background, so I die cut each of the leaves about 3 times each with black cardstock and layered them together with the ink blended ones on top.

I took the sentiment from the Autumn Bundles stamp set and heat embossed it over a strip of black cardstock with some Gilded EP.  Once I cut down the strip, I ran it through the die cut machine to get the Wonky Stitched Rectangle die marks along the edges.  I mounted this panel over a gold mirror cardstock and then over an A2 sized top folding black card base.  Lastly, I added some gold sequins that were included in the Inspiration Box and filled them with some gold Stickles in the centers.

Here’s a closer view of the leaves and you can see the pretty embossed pattern in the leaves.

Really like how this turned out and I hope you did too!  Be sure to take a look over on the {Cupcake Inspirations} Challenge Blog to see the rest of the inspiration from the design team and join us for this fun color combo!

Thanks for stopping in today and I’ll see you soon!

An Autumn Anniversary

Hello friends!  It’s been so cold over my way and even snowed the other day which is a tad bit early for this time of the year.  I’m still trying to hold onto to Fall a bit longer as I know that the Holiday/Winter Season will be approaching us very quickly now!  It seems that Autumn never gets it’s due justice and goes by so fast!🍂

I’m popping in today to share a card I’ve made for hubby to help celebrate our special day of 21 years together🥰:

I adore this sweet image by Crissy Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps called “Your Love Lifts Me” as I thought it was a great representation of how I feel about hubby and how I wanted it to reflect on my card for him.  He will have already received this card by the time this posts…so it’s OK if he sees this!😉

I’ve stamped the image over a panel of Copic Blending Card off to one side of it and then cut it out with a stitched rectangle die.  I took a piece of orange colored cardstock and used the same die to cut it with, but I cut this piece in half, stamped the sentiment over it and sponged around the edges of it with some Vintage Photo Distress ink.  I also took the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiments set and white heat embossed it over a piece of brown cardstock that was cut out with the Whimsy Stamps Quick Strips die set and attached underneath the sentiment and cut off at the edge.

The few leaves over the design was stamped from an older Simon Says Stamp set and colored with Copics.  I then added some more Vintage Photo sponged around the image panel and attached the orange sentiment panel over top of the colored image panel and wrapped some twine around the center of it. I layered this panel over top of an A2 sized top folding brown card base.  I’ve added some sequins filled with gold Stickles in the center along with a few more dots.

Here’s a closer look at the Copic coloring I’ve done over the image.  I’ve kept it pretty simple and decided I didn’t want to add white dots to their cheeks like I usually do.  I don’t know why there are times I do and times I don’t.  This time it just seemed to call for none.

I used a light blue marker to color in the background and then with the same colors that I’ve used to color in the leaves, I took the markers and made my own leaves on the ground surrounding the couple.  I even stamped some more of the leaves on the inside of the card as well as the envelope and colored them.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Autumn Anniversary card today as I sure had fun colored this sweet image.

I’m very lucky to have such a wonderful person to share my life with in the past 21 years and look forward to our times together in the future.  Thank you for stopping in today friends!  See you soon!

Pink & Main Video Hop with Hello Autumn Slimline

Hello friends!  I hope you’ve had a fantastic week!  It seems like this month is flying by!

I’m excited to share with you a fun video hop collaboration with Pink and Main on my You Tube Channel today! (Be sure to check it out on MY VIDEO because there is a giveaway and you’ll need to leave comments on the videos to be entered to win!)  So head on over to see the wonderful inspiration with the Pink and Main products going on!

Here’s the fun Autumn themed slimline card I’ve made for the video hop today:

So Pink and Main has come out with some fabulous new products which I’ve used for my card here and I’ve added some fun techniques to use with some of those products as well!

The background was really fun to create using the Pink & Main Blending Brushes along with the new Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide Ink color that just came out!  I’ve also used the wonderful Leafy Stencil from Pink & Main over the background too.  The cups and leaves were also colored using the oxide inks and a waterbrush which you can see in my video as well as how I’ve inked and cut out the one image backwards so I have two cups with the handles in opposite directions on my design here.

You can check out how I’ve put this design together and the techniques I’ve used in this video below, or to leave a comment and see the link to the next person in the video hop, CLICK HERE to go to the video on You Tube.

I absolutely fell in love with that Need to Venti stamp set and coordinating dies!  I loved that older Christmas Mugs stamps they had previously came out, but Autumn is awesome to add to my collection because it’s my favorite time of the year!  So be sure to check out how to stretch out the use of this set in video above!

The Blessings slimline die was so fun to use on my card too and I love that the frame cuts out separately from the center and there was room to layer behind it before attaching to your slimline card base.  The Brutus Monroe Copper Glitterstock was the perfect accent behind the scallop frame. That frame was cut out with several layers of cardstock and stacked together for thickness.

The same Copper Glitterstock was used to cut out the sentiment dies as well.  I’ve used some vellum to layer behind the Autumn sentiment, which the backing diecut was also included in this same slimeline die set!  The final measurement of my slimline card was a piece of brown cardstock measuring 8.5″ x 7″ and scored at 3.5″ in the center.  The finished card will fit inside a #10 envelope when closed.

Here’s a closer view of the details with my colored cups using the distress oxide inks and waterbrush.  I’ve also used the same Need to Venti stamp set and oxide ink colors to stamp the leaves and die cut them out to arrange over my scene as well.

I popped up the cups with foam squares and added some drops over the whip topping in the cups with some Nuvo Honey Gold Crystal Drops.

Hopefully you can see the pretty Autumn colors and dimension in the card.  I sure had lots of fun putting all of this together!

Thanks so much for dropping in today and I’ll be seeing you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving with Gold at Cute Card Thursday!

Happy Thanksgiving!  (For those that celebrate the Holiday)  I will be busy today visiting with my family and having dinner.  I look forward to seeing my boys as it’s been a few months without seeing them!  So it will be fun!

Today starts up a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and the theme for this week is “GOLD!”  Really fun and versatile metallic to use in your creations, so I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for this!

In conjunction with the Thanksgiving Holiday today, I thought my creation for this week’s challenge needed to reflect that:

Vicki-CCT610-BMGold

Since the main goal of the challenge is using gold, I kept the main focus on doing that, plus there are a couple of challenges going on that helped me figure out how to put it all together.  (see bottom of post for challenges.)

I have pulled out a stamp set called Plaid Tidings and used a plaid foilable toner sheet for the strip in the background.

I started out with an A2 sized top folding white card base and used a Darice embossing folder to emboss the leaves over the kraft background panel.  I took the toner printed plaid sheet and Gold Static Foil Transfer sheets and layered it over a piece of Bazzil Gold Mirror Cardstock and another piece of white cardstock.  I attached this to the embossed background.

For the background panel and the cut out leaves, I’ve used the “Kissing Technique” to add the plaid image over the leaves.  I sponged around this panel along with the leaves with some kraft colored ink and attached the white panel to another piece of the gold mirror cardstock.  I’ve added some gold ribbon around it and used some foam tape to pop it up a bit.

Vicki-CCT610-BMGold-close

Here’s a closer view at some of the details in my card design.  (You can better see the foiling done over the plaid with that Gold Static foil!)

For the sentiment, I heat embossed it over white cardstock with some Gilded Embossing Powder.  I die cut it out with a circle die and sponged some more kraft colored ink around this and then attached it to another circle layer of the gold mirror cardstock.

I attached this over the square leaves and ribbon panel and added a gold ribbon bow at the top of it.  To finish it off I added some gold sequins filled with Ranger Gold Stickles.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my GOLD Thanksgiving card today!

Have a beautiful day!  I’m thankful today for my wonderful family and lovely crafty friends that I have right here!  I appreciate you being here with me!

It’s Fall Y’All!

Hello friends!

For my card today I’ve used acrylic bubbles and that is one of my faves to use on pretty much ANY style of creation I’m making and here you can see why:

Vicki-BMbloghop-DD

Fall is certainly my most favorite time of the year and I really enjoy creating with all of the fun Autumn style products.  The wreath and sentiment that I’ve used are from the Fall Y’All stamp set and I’ve cut it out using the Fall Y’All Cut File that you can get for your cutting machine.  I have a Cricut, so I’ve used that to cut it out with.

Now that cut file does NOT cut out the center of the wreath, so I just poked my scissors in the center of it that made a large enough hole so that I could fussy cut around the inside of it.    The cut file will also cut around for your sentiment.

The base of the card is an A2 top folding card.  I took a couple of the leaf images from the Autumn Essentials stamp set and heat embossed a couple of them on the card base with the Gilded EP.

I then glued on the cut-out wreath image, popped up the sentiment in the center with foam tape and also added some gold thread behind it before attaching.  I took some white ink and sponged around the edges of the card base and then finally attached the acrylic bubbles over the card.

Vicki-BMbloghop-DD-close

Here’s a closer look at the image and how I’ve got it colored in.  I’ve used Copic markers to color it along with the leaves on the sentiment.  I also took some distress ink and sponged around the edges of the cut images.

For the sentiment, I first stamped it with the black ink and then cleaned off the stamp and then stamped it again with the embossing ink.  I sprinkled the Gilded EP over the sentiment and then brushed off the EP on the leaf areas as I didn’t want those embossed.  I heat set only the wording.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today and were inspired in some way!

Always Be Grateful

Hello friends!  Happy Saturday!  Yay!  The weekend is finally here! 🙂

I really love all things Fall including the beautiful colors you start seeing from the leaves on the trees.  Nothing better than a nice walk in the brisk cool air!  This is what has inspired my card today too!

Vicki-BMGrateful-Sept7

I knew I wanted to used this sentiment for a Fall theme.  I think it’s awesome just to have a sentiment be the focal of your card sometimes.  It was heat set over a piece of white cardstock and then sponged around the edges with the yellow Ink.  I wanted a bit more sparkle, so I took my Embossing Ink pad and rubbed it along the edges of the panel and heat embossed some of the Vintage Sparkle EP over it.

And of course I wanted to do some foiling too because it’s just fun especially when you have these cool Vintage Wallpaper-Foilable Washi Sheets to do it on!  I used the Deco Foil Spring Grass transfer sheets over it and then used more of that ink to sponge around the edges and also heat set some more of that Vintage Sparkle over the edges too.

For the background, I took a piece of white cardstock measuring 4″ x5.25″ and covered it with the Embossing Ink pad.  I used some more of that Golden Gourd EP and heat set this entire piece.  Then I took the foiled strips and attached them over top of this panel and layered onto a top folding A2 sized Jurassic card base.  I also layered the embossed sentiment panel over a piece of this same cardstock.

I then added the sentiment panel over the card front with some foam tape and then added some die cut leaves that I sponged with ink and then a couple of gold sequins with some gold glitter in the centers for more sparkle.

Vicki-BMGrateful-Sept7-close

Here’s a closer look at the heat embossed sentiment, background, and the sparkle around the edges where I heat embossed.

Vicki-BMGrateful-Sept7-flat

And here’s another look at the foiled washi strips too with the card laying flat.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed my Fall creation today and were inspired in some way!  Thank you for joining me today as well as the entire week!  See you soon!!
