Hello friends! It’s Thursday and time again for a new challenge over at the Cute Card Thursday Blog! The theme for this week’s challenge is to “Add a Quote” to your project! I happen to love quotes and find them very inspirational to help lift my spirits and I think it’s a wonderful type of card to send to someone who might need a little lift. So here’s the card I created for the challenge:
There’s always something magical about a night sky especially with some soft glowing lights hanging up in your backyard! I have used some Brutus Monroe products to create the look on this card.
Starting with the background, I took some Aqua Pigment paper and the amazing Night Shift Aqua Pigments along with some sprayed water and some BM Zsushing Sheets (a ‘technical term’ used by the owner!) to move around the watercolor and mix them together to create the “night” look I wanted for the background. I then took some circle stencils that I made myself with some circle dies and the BM Alabaster Ink with a sponge to create the “bokeh effect” over the background in the upper portion of the design. Then I white heat embossed with the BM Alabaster EP using an image from the BM String Lights stamp set. I also heat set the quote at the bottom from the BM Conservatory of Quotes stamp set. I also added some “splatter” at the top of the card with some watered down BM Pearl Aqua Pigment and a brush. I also colored in some of the open stars with it. I’ve used some BM Brown Aqua Pigment to color in the branch too. I used some yellow chalk to make the “lights” around the branch glow and then covered them some glitter. Then I took some TINY star confetti and glued them around the branch area for more sparkle.
It’s hard to photograph all of that shimmer from the Night Shift Aqua Pigments and sparkle that’s all over this card, so I thought I would share it in motion:
As Christopher would say “Shinning Shimmery Splendid”!! I want to keep replaying so that I can see that shimmer in the background! I see purples too!
Here’s a closer look at the quote I’ve used in case you couldn’t read it. It’s white heat embossed with the BM Alabaster EP from the BM Conservatory of Quotes stamp set. “It is important to remember that we all have magic inside of us.” – JK Rowling … Love that!
You might be able to see a little bit of that shimmer on the background here if you look at the left lower portion of the card.
Please be sure to join in the fun with us this week over at Cute Card Thursday! I look forward to seeing what you come up with!!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I appreciate you stopping in! Please join me again on Saturday as I will have a popular requested video tutorial for you! Make sure to subscribe to my channel and hit that bell notification so you see when I post a new video!

Good evening friends! Just swinging by to share a card I made with some cute animal star gazers! 🙂 I thought evening would be an appropriate time to post it:
When this set first came out from Lawn Fawn called Upon a Star, I knew I had to get it as I fell in love with it. I really hadn’t used it all that much, so it was great to get it out for a play as I needed to make a commissioned card. I have created a scene for these critters using masks that I made with my circle die set and some ink blending with my distress inks. For the stars, I took a brush and splattered some “Super Sparkle Lumiere Paint” watered down a bit while masking off the moon and hill. The moon was created with some watered down distress inks and a brush.
I then stamped the critters sitting on top of the grassy hill where I wanted them and colored them in with my Copics. I took a brush filled with clear water to “take out” the inks on the critters before I did that. I also took a gray Copic marker to create shadows on the animals as well as draw in my own shadows on the hill. I took a white gel pen to add some highlights on the animals where I thought the moon would be shining on them. I also put dots in the center of the bunny’s eyes to make it appear as if a star is reflected in them.
To cut out the image panel, I have used a rectangle frame die which was used to cut out some watercolor cardstock. I then used the same die and cut out a piece of this gorgeous black glitter cardstock and popped the frame up with foam tape to go around the edges of the image panel design. I mounted everything over a black A2 sized top folding card base.
Here’s a closer look at the details. Here you can better see the shimmer on the moon. As always you have to get just the right angle for the photograph, but I covered the moon with a Spectrum Noir Glitter Brush Pen.
I took a couple of the tiny solid stars from the stamp set and heat embossed them with (a new favorite of mine!) Sparkle N Sprinkle Vanilla Ice EP [EP265]. Love the way it gives a bit of extra sparkle! I think the stars really show up beautifully and it always looks better in person of course! 🙂
I do not have a sentiment on this as waiting for instruction on how to proceed with that if necessary. I’m happy with the way this turned out and look forward to playing with more starry sky creations!
Thanks so much for stopping by this evening and I wish you a wonderful weekend my friends!
