Anything Goes at Cute Card Thursday + Whimsy Stamps November Release is HERE! (Post 1 of 3 today)

Hello friends and welcome to November!!  It’s hard to believe that we are closing in on the end of another year!  Time has went by so fast especially since I’ve started back up on my new blog here! 🙂  So glad you are here with me!  Thank you for that!

I actually have THREE posts going up today and each one of them brings something fun, new and exciting with it!  So be sure to check them all out!

Today starts a brand new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday!  For this week, it’s an easy “Anything Goes” challenge!  And since our sponsor this week is Whimsy Stamps, I thought this would also be a great time to introduce to you an image from the brand new Digital Release that has just came out TODAY!!  Check it out:

This cute seal critter is presenting his underwater gift for the Holidays!  This new digital image from Whimsy Stamps is called Seal in Water by Crissy Armstrong.  I had fun coloring him up with my Copic markers.  I decided to use the markers in a “pointilism” fashion to give him a spotted seal look. (I’ve also added some light dots with a white gel pen.) Copics used:  for seal – Blender 0, W7, W5, W3, W1, R00 for hat/bow – R39, R37, R35, R32 for package – BG99, BG96, BG93 for trimming/bubbles – C3, C1, C0, BG000

For the background I used a stencil to blend some blue colors to make them appear as if he’s underwater as he has bubbles around him.  I cut him out with a stitched oval die and cut out a piece of gold foil cardstock with a larger stitched oval for matting behind the image.

If you take a look at those fun festive papers on my card, this is also part of the new Whimsy Stamps November Digital release as well!  The papers are from the Christmas Traditions Collection.  I’m sure I’ll be using more from this collection on an upcoming card soon!  I have took the corner chomper and rounded the two bottom corners and then took a gold ink pad to rub along the edges with it.  You can also see that I’ve used one of the Whimsy Stamps Penguin Christmas Sentiments 1 digital set and cut a banner with it to place on the bottom of my card.  I’ve die cut a border in red cardstock going across the middle and added some white silk ribbon with a bow.  I mounted the oval image panel on the card front with foam tape and then cut off the edge.  I mounted everything over an A2 sized red top folding card base.

I’ve finished off my card with some Christmas sequins filled with Tinsel Stickles and I’ve also covered the bubbles with some Nuvo White Blizzard Crystal Drops.

Turtley Impossible

Hello friends!  I really wanted to post earlier this week, but life sometimes gets in the way of all of the crafty fun that you want to do as I’m sure you know! 🙂

If you remember earlier this Summer my post about the fun stamp convention I went to in Collinsville, I shared a photo of the TONS of things I got while I was there.  I still haven’t been able to play with all of it…yet, but there are a couple of companies that I fell in love with, so I decided to place an order for some things that I wished I had gotten while I was there! LOL!

This “new to me” company called Pink & Main was a booth that I went to and bought some items from.  I had seen a video last year of something that I fell in love with and was determined to purchase that while I was there.  I started following along with them and fell in love with these sweet turtles that I’ve used on my card today:

Before I get to the details of this card, I wanted to explain what type of card this is.  There are many challenge blogs I like to follow because I enjoy challenging myself while paper crafting as many of us like to do.  So I came across this challenge that was asking us to make an “Impossible Card“.  (I have linked a tutorial that I found on Splitcoaststampers if you want to learn how to make one for yourself.  Just click on the card name.)  I had not seen nor heard of one of these before, so naturally I had to play along!  What I like about this card (NOT impossible at all…so easy!), is that the center panel naturally pops up like that AND you can fold it down to lay flat in a regular A2 sized envelope!  (You can create different sizes and such, but I kept mine simple.)

To decorate this card, I’ve taken the very cute Pink & Main Turtely Amazing stamp set with the coordinating dies to color with my Copic markers and cut them out.  I’ve also used the Pink & Main Sunset paper pad as well as the Waves Border Dies to decorate the background scene.  The white strips that I’ve used for stability on the card was stamped with the sentiment from the same set and then layered with the blue polka-dotted paper around it.  I added the cut elements and layered them on top of the strip.  For the main popped up panel, I’ve taken the cut out turtle and layered him among the cut wave border at the bottom.  I then took some of the Pink & Main Silver Glossy Dots to embellish the upper corner.  I also took some ribbon and added a bow just below the turtle.  For the light blue polka-dotted papers, I sponged some blue distress ink along the edges for a bit more color.

And since you can completely turn this card around, I wanted to decorate the other side as well:

For this side, I took a different turtle from the same stamp set, colored and cut him out along with the other elements to arrange on my card scene.  I took some brown card stock and cut a strip with a stitched border die and inked up one edge for a sandy beach for the turtle to sit on.  I also tucked the shell behind the border and added the star fish on the strip with foam tape.  I also added some more silver glossy dots to the strip.

There would still be room to write a personal message on the bottom portion of the card if someone wanted to.  You could also easily write something on the back somewhere on the lighter blue spots.

Super easy and fun to make which is something that I needed right now, so I’m glad I decided to give this a try!

Here are the challenges I’d like to enter this card for:

  1.   CCEE Stampers (CCEE1827) – The Impossible Card
  2. Brown Sugar – Two patterned papers on project

Shello

Hello friends!  Hope you had a great weekend!  I’m so tired!  I forgot how much work it takes to put together a garage sale!  We had a nice day for it and it was a great turn out!  We are happy to have gotten rid of those big items in our way around the house.  We ended up donating the rest that did not sell.  Thinking of this, I probably need to go through my craft stash and do the same…but somehow, it’s just so much harder to decide what to keep and what not to…the pile ends up changing eventually! LOL!

If you remember, I have also been participating in the ICAD 2018 challenge which I have been going into my craft studio each day and creating at least once a day.  I can share with you the results of that each week as go, so be looking for that soon!

Today I have some fun “underwater” items to share:

This card was made from the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Box (sold out).  I recieved it a couple of months ago and it helped get me some much needed inspiration that I hadn’t had for a while.  (It’s a long story and probably one best not to type up here.)  Along with a fun painting retreat that I had went to in April this year…it was all the kick start I needed and then came the inspiration to blog again!  I am happy that I did as I missed sharing my art and communicating with my fellow crafty friends here! 🙂

If you haven’t checked out the Brutus Monroe company yet, I highly recommend you check out their products and what they have!  I am very impressed with the embossing powders, inks and a few other items!  Everything I have received, I have been pleased with.  Wish I could share everything I have received from this kit, but I will just share the creations that I’ve made for now.

For the card above, I wanted most of the card to look underwater and that’s where I’ve used the vellum from the kit and die cut out a wave at the top of it.  I stamped the shoe image from above, the fish and underwater background stamp and colored with Copics.  I added the sentiment banner and the awesome two toned pearls over the top.  The edges of the vellum were sponged with blue ink (from the kit) and I added some blue sparkle on the waves.  All papers came from kit.

Next, I have this really cool Jumb Tag from Brutus Monroe (looks like that’s sold out too!) that I’ve decorated with contents from this same kit!  I’ve used this cool cover die (also BM) and instead of die cutting with it, I’ve used it for embossing.  Before I used the die, I covered the background with some distress inks and splashed some water dropplets over it.  I colored the images with my Copic markers, fussy cut them out and attached to the background.  The embossing powder I’ve used for the sentiment at the top is from Brutus Monroe also and it was called “mermaid tail”.  The green glitter strips and the ribbon at the bottom were from the kit and I attached those as part of my background.  The sea shell sequins at the top came from the kit as well as those awesome scale accents.  This was such a fun kit to play with and a fun tag to put together!

Here’s closer view of the images colored up.  Hard to see in the photos, but I have covered the mermaid’s eyes as well as the fish eyes with some glossy accents.  You can also see how cool looking those fish scale flat backs are…love the different shimmery colors in it!  And to give you an idea of the size of the tag, it’s 4″ x 8″!

Hope you’ve enjoyed my underwater creations today and I’ll see you again with more of what I’ve been crafting!  Have a great day!
