More Inspiration for AJJ-Be Like a Feather

Hello friends and happy weekend!  I have some more inspiration for you using the “LIGHT/KEEPING IT LIGHT” theme over at Art Journal Journey that I’m hosting this month!  There are so many options to play with as well as inspiration, so hope you can join in the fun!

Loved getting messy with a rainbow watercolor on this one!  I fell in love with these feathers from Taylored Expressions and knew the large images would be wonderful for an AJ page!

For the Background:  Started with my usual 5.5″x8.5″ Canson Watercolor 140# cold press paper that was pre-punched at the top with a Zutter machine.  I stamped each feather with a grey waterproof ink.  I then used my set of Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor and blended in the rainbow colors over the feathers.  After it dried, I splattered some of the gold watercolor over top.

I then used a large stamp with several words and stamped it second generation over the two opposite corners in the grey ink.  The words at the bottom and throughout the falling feathers were computer generated and cut out.  I inked around the edges and glued them to the page.  I did take a strip of gold mirror cardstock across the bottom and the “feather title” was made into a banner with a layer of grey cardstock behind it.  I added one gold rhinestone to each feather.

  • If I haven’t mentioned why I like to art journal, it’s simply something that gives me the freedom to create any style, any medium and no fear of trying something new as this is something personal for me only.  I don’t give away my art journal pages.  It’s something that I can release in art what comes from my heart and head…and that’s fine with me.  If you haven’t tried it, I encourage you to just have fun with it and let go.

I thank you kindly for stopping by and for your kind words…I truly appreciate any way that you interact with me and I’m glad you’re here!  See you next time!

  2. Another great page! I do agree that art journaling is a good way to chill and just be yourself. I need to do it more often but I can’t find my journal since we moved to the cabin. I know it’s here somewhere… I guess I just need to start another one! 😉

  3. Oh I really like these feathers and that pretty background you have them on. And I’m with you about art journaling. Its very freeing, and fun. If only the rest of life could be more like art journaling-meaning not a whole lots of rules you need to follow. – grin. Thanks for linking up to TIOT with this page also. Have a great rest of your weekend. hugs-Erika

  4. What a fabulous art journal page Vicki. .I love the feathers stamped and then the rainbow colours gliding in behind and through the feathers, so beautiful and soft and the labels sentiments working with the colours, love it.

  5. Vicki, Another beautiful and meaningful creation. The inks over the feathers causes them to be different colors of grey. What a wonderful interpretation for the challenge. When dealing with others I can make sure my “word” are feathers on their ears. On another note since “immatation
is the sincerest form of flattery” I bought me a watercolor pad from Canson’s Artistic series 140 lb cold presses (9 X 12). Looking forward to using it with a SU saleabration set this week. Not only is your work excellent, the tips you give are so helpful. Thanks for being a friend! kathy

  6. Oh Wow Vicki – that painted background for your lovely feathers is beautiful! Journaling is the best way I know of to relax and If I want to I can share it and if I don’t that’s fine too. Thank you for sharing at Try it On Tuesday as well as being a great page for your theme, hugs Chrisx

  8. Your water color is so vivid and gorgeous. Not a brown mess – I’ve heard that can happen 😉 Your journal pages are always so inspiring. I’ve taken up the challenge myself and have managed some good and some fails. I think the hardest part is letting go and just creating without purpose or layouts or overthinking. It’s also such a great way to use up items/stamps, as well as trying new techniques.

On another note, thank you for the sentiments! The variety is awesome. And your card?? 1) I loved the little post it to pass it along but 2) I’ll probably hold onto it since it’s so pretty but 3) now I’m inspired to do the same when I mail out cards.
