Pink & Main Video Hop with Hello Autumn Slimline

Hello friends!  I hope you’ve had a fantastic week!  It seems like this month is flying by!

I’m excited to share with you a fun video hop collaboration with Pink and Main on my You Tube Channel today! (Be sure to check it out on MY VIDEO because there is a giveaway and you’ll need to leave comments on the videos to be entered to win!)  So head on over to see the wonderful inspiration with the Pink and Main products going on!

Here’s the fun Autumn themed slimline card I’ve made for the video hop today:

So Pink and Main has come out with some fabulous new products which I’ve used for my card here and I’ve added some fun techniques to use with some of those products as well!

The background was really fun to create using the Pink & Main Blending Brushes along with the new Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide Ink color that just came out!  I’ve also used the wonderful Leafy Stencil from Pink & Main over the background too.  The cups and leaves were also colored using the oxide inks and a waterbrush which you can see in my video as well as how I’ve inked and cut out the one image backwards so I have two cups with the handles in opposite directions on my design here.

You can check out how I’ve put this design together and the techniques I’ve used in this video below, or to leave a comment and see the link to the next person in the video hop, CLICK HERE to go to the video on You Tube.

I absolutely fell in love with that Need to Venti stamp set and coordinating dies!  I loved that older Christmas Mugs stamps they had previously came out, but Autumn is awesome to add to my collection because it’s my favorite time of the year!  So be sure to check out how to stretch out the use of this set in video above!

The Blessings slimline die was so fun to use on my card too and I love that the frame cuts out separately from the center and there was room to layer behind it before attaching to your slimline card base.  The Brutus Monroe Copper Glitterstock was the perfect accent behind the scallop frame. That frame was cut out with several layers of cardstock and stacked together for thickness.

The same Copper Glitterstock was used to cut out the sentiment dies as well.  I’ve used some vellum to layer behind the Autumn sentiment, which the backing diecut was also included in this same slimeline die set!  The final measurement of my slimline card was a piece of brown cardstock measuring 8.5″ x 7″ and scored at 3.5″ in the center.  The finished card will fit inside a #10 envelope when closed.

Here’s a closer view of the details with my colored cups using the distress oxide inks and waterbrush.  I’ve also used the same Need to Venti stamp set and oxide ink colors to stamp the leaves and die cut them out to arrange over my scene as well.

I popped up the cups with foam squares and added some drops over the whip topping in the cups with some Nuvo Honey Gold Crystal Drops.

Hopefully you can see the pretty Autumn colors and dimension in the card.  I sure had lots of fun putting all of this together!

Thanks so much for dropping in today and I’ll be seeing you soon!

Sending a Smile to a Hunter and Winner on You Tube!

Hello friends! Welcome to the month of September! I cannot believe that Fall is at the door here! The weather has already started to cool us down a bit and Summer is starting to fade as you can see the flowers starting to die off. Now I will look forward to the changing color of leaves which is always amazing.

Today I have a project to share that I’ve made for the Splitcoaststampers Teapot “Make it Pop” challenge. This card is in need of a special SCS friend’s father who is having some difficulties with health and I wanted to help with a smile for him if I could:

“Pop” as he is lovingly called, enjoys the outdoors and hunting which is something that several men in my own life enjoy, so I knew that this would be a direction I was going in with some stamps I have from Newton’s Nook.

For the background, I took a woodgrain embossing folder before fully assembling the card.

Since this is a hunting theme, I thought it would be fun to make a camouflage background and so I’ve used the fabulous tutorial on SCS HERE to create the look.  I also cut off a thin strip towards the bottom to add some interest to the design as well.  Over top of the background, I layered the sentiment from MFT and also cut it out with a banner die.  I used a grassy feilds border die from MFT for the strip at the bottom of the panel and stamped the “Pop…” over it in brown ink.  I stamped and cut out the deer from the Newton’s Nook Serene Silhouettes set with coordinating dies.  I also die cut a few green leaves with an older MFT die for a few accents inside and out.

When you open up the card…

vicki-mmtpt632-forpop-open-1

Because of the name “Pop”, the challenge was “Make it Pop”, we needed to show some sort of element like this on our design.  So I found this really fun “Pop-Up Diorama” card tutorial on SCS for my design.

I’ve used an oval die to cut the center of my card and then used a piece of cardstock for the background to attach behind it.  On this panel, I created a scene with blending inks and adding stamped and die cut elements from the Newton’s Nook Whispering Pines stamp set that I’ve also used the sentiment from on the inside.

For the rest of the card, I’ve used the same stamp set that I used on the outside of the card and arranged them to create this scene with different layers that are popped up.

Hope this helps bring a smile over to “Pop”.  Thanks so much for stopping in today and I hope you were inspired in some way too!

Have a great day friends and I’ll see you soon!

We’re On the Farm for {Cupcake Inspirations}!🐄

Hello friends!  Hope that you’ve had a wonderful weekend!  I sure enjoyed my time with hubby relaxing and enjoying the cooler temps for sure!  After all the “partying”, are you ready for a new challenge?

Today we’re starting with a brand new challenge over at {Cupcake Inspirations} with the theme “On the Farm“!  So whatever farm related project you’re working on, please be sure to link it up in our challenge!  We look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

Here’s what I’ve made for the challenge:

Vicki-CIC501-week1

I’ve been wanting to use this fun barn die from My Favorite Things for a while and this was super fun to create a farm scene with!  It even has the little embossed markings on the barn along with a bail of hay!🐓

I started out using the MFT cloud stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink for the background panel, then layered over a grass border at the bottom and then cut this panel out with the stitched rectangle die.  I also stamped the sentiment as well as a few animals from the MFT The Whole Herd stamp set, colored and cut them out with the coordinating dies. (can’t find in the store!)  I then placed my fence border over top of the grass border, popped up the barn with foam tape where I wanted it and then placed all of the other images arranging them over the scene.  This front panel was attached to a top folding A2 red card base.

Vicki-CIC501-week1-close

So I love how the door on the barn can open up with that die cut!  Of course I had to add something inside the barn and with the nest of eggs sitting on top, it only felt right to place the chicken in there!  For the backing of the barn, I’ve taken a piece of paper from the MFT Woodgrain Whimsy Paper Pad and attached it from behind before popping it up with some foam tape.  I’ve also taken a pen and wrote the “milk” word over top of the colored can next to the cow.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my creation today!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll be seeing you again soon!

Feeling Sentimental for Dare To Get Dirty

Hello again friends!  If you missed my previous post, be sure to check it out for details about a GIVEAWAY on my You Tube Channel!  You only have ONE week to enter it!

Today is my turn over at Splitcoaststampers “Dare to Get Dirty” Event to a host a challenge, so I wanted to share the creations that I’ve made for it.

Vicki-DTGD20basementstamper-words-shaker

First up I have this shaker style card I made with some of my fave Lawn Fawn products!

I’ve colored up that sweet little mouse standing over the banner from the Wild For You stamp set and cut him out with the coordinating die.  The black banner he’s sitting on was white heat embossed from the Happy, Happy Happy stamp set.  I also used the tiny smile face from this set to randomly stamp the background inside my shaker frame.  I then used the envelope at the bottom from the Love Letters stamp set that was colored and cut out with the coordinating die.

I’ve used some Stitched rectangle LF dies to create the shaker frame and the striped papers also come from some random LF papers in my stash.  I’ve used the  LF Scripty Smile die in black cardstock that I’ve attached over top of the acetate window area.

Vicki-DTGD20basementstamper-words-shaker-flat

Since the card was mainly black and white, I wanted to add a happy rainbow color which is where the shaker sequins came in.  I looked through my collection and found some Tie Dye Rainbow Sequins from Brutus Monroe.

Vicki-DTGD20basementstamper-wordsHUG

I guess I had rainbow colors in mind with my next card as well!  I absolutely LOVE this sentiment stamp from Trinity Stamps called Folded Hug.  I started by white heat embossing it over black cardstock and then I cut it out with my MFT Wonky Stitch Rectangle die and layered it over a white scallop rectangle layer and layered that again over a black piece of cardstock.  I also used the coordinating Sending Hugs die set to cut the “hug” letters out multiple times to raise them up over the image and then finished with the rainbow colors that I’ve used for the background of the card.

Vicki-DTGD20basementstamper-words-HUG-close

Upon a closer look at the image, you can see where I’ve colored in parts of the image with my Karin Brush Metallic pen set.  I think it showed up so pretty over the black cardstock.  I’ve also covered the rainbow letters with a glitter brush pen and then went over that with glossy accents.  I love how shinny the letters are IRL!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my share of creations during the Splitcoaststampers “Dare to Get Dirty” Event and has helped inspire you in some way!  I appreciate you stopping in!

  1. Lawn Fawnatics – Make the Sentiment the Star
  2. Aud Sentiments – Anything Goes + Sentiment

Vicki-CIC500-Day11-RachelVassDesigns

I have the gorgeous Sunshine Daisies digital set for my design here by printing the image along with the sentiment that came with the set on a piece of Bristol watercolor paper.  I remember hubby brightening up my day a while back with some very pretty colorful rainbow of daisy flowers he brought home, so I based my colors that way.

I’ve used my watercolor markers and water brush to color the image with and then I took some yellow sparkle AquaPigment along with some Cream Grey Aquapigment from Brutus Monroe to splatter over top of the design before I cut it out with a Wonky Stitch rectangle die from MFT.

I layered this panel over an A2 top folding Soft Suede card base and finished it off with some clear sparkle sequins that I added some yellow Stickles to the centers.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my watercolor rainbow daisies today!  Thank you for stopping in to check my post today!  See you tomorrow!

A Unicorn with Sprinkles & Rainbows for Dare to Get Dirty

Hello again today my friends! Yes, still posting and with another “twofer post” again today! It will calm down eventually, but for now I have lots of things to share with you!😀

As you may have read in my second post from yesterday, we kicked off the “Dare to Get Dirty” Event over at Splitcoaststampers and I shared the card I made for one of the challenges. I have another creation to share with you that I made for one of the challenges released today and this one is for the lovely Lori:

This really brought out the little girl in me when creating this card with the rainbow colors and magical scene! This sweet little unicorn image along with the rainbow in the background and the sentiment all come from the Digi Doodle Studios Unicorn Wishes Pairables set. I’ve printed them out, colored them with Copic markers and fussy cut them out with the exception of the sentiment which I left and cut out as a cloud with my Lawn Fawn Cloud Border dies. I’ve also used that die to cut some clouds from a piece of vellum and an additional piece of white cardstock.

I’ve used an older My Favorite Things Stitched Rainbow die from white cardstock that I colored with Copic markers to place behind the first set of clouds behind the unicorn. Before layering my clouds, I took some distress ink and blending tool to add a bit of blue shadow behind them. After attaching all the cloud and rainbow layers, I cut it out with the MFT Blueprints 27 die set .

Lastly, I’ve attached this layer over an A2 sized white top folding card base and popped up the fussy cut unicorn with foam tape. I took some random sequins to attach over the design.

Here’s a closer view of some of the details in the card. I added some loose glitter over the unicorn’s wings with a 2-way glue pen and some loose glitter. Hard to tell, but I’ve also added some shimmer to the rainbows and the unicorn’s mane with a glitter brush pen. I also added a bit more blue cloud shadow under the unicorn’s feet before attaching him on the card.

This was really fun to create and I know it will make a fun card to share.

Thanks so much for dropping in!

Nautical for {Cupcake Inspirations}⚓

Hello friends!  Happy August!  Really hope you’ve had a nice weekend!

Today starts a brand new challenge over at {Cupcake Inspirations} and the theme this time is “Nautical”!

I love the nautical theme and looking through my stash, I came across this older stamp set that someone had gifted to me and I thought I’d pull it out to play with:

Vicki-CIC499-nautical

This image is from Inkadinkadoo called “Down by the Seaside” that I’ve inked up in black ink over a piece of white cardstock.  I used some masking tape to mask off the areas around the lighthouse to make the “light beams” and then used my ink blending tool to go around the edges with blue inks with the darkest color closest to the edges.

I’ve die cut it out with a Taylored Expressions Frayed Edge Stacklets dies and then I popped it up with foam tape over a hand ripped red piece of cardstock that was sponged around the edges with white ink.  Before attaching the top layer over the red, I’ve added some twine around it and made a bow with a compass charm (by Tim Holtz) attached over top of the image panel.

These layers were attached to an A2 top folding Navy card base that I’ve stamped a compass image from a Stampin’ Up! stamp set called “Wherever You Go” with white ink.  I’ve also used a sentiment from this same stamp set and stamped it over the image panel in the top right corner with black ink.

Vicki-CIC499-nautical-close

Here’s a closer look at the image where you can see the sponging I’ve done on the background.  The rest of the image was colored in with Copic markers in certain areas.  I didn’t want to use too much color as I didn’t think it really needed it.

Hard to tell in the photo, but I’ve covered the water, sun and lighthouse “light beams” with a glitter brush pen.  You really notice it IRL when you pick it up and move it around and see the sparkle.

I hope that you’ve been inspired with my creation today!

Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll be seeing you soon!😉

{Cupcake Inspirations} Color Challenge Reminder

Hello there friends!  Hoping you’ve had a wonderful weekend!  It’s gotten pretty warm again over my way after enjoying the slightly cooler and beautiful weather for a while!  I’ve been enjoying the flowers while they’re still around!

I’m sharing some more inspiration with you today for a reminder on our current color challenge for {Cupcake Inspirations}, so if you haven’t played along with us yet, you still have another week to join us!

For some reason this color challenge still had me thinking of daisy flowers…so I went with that again for my design this week as well:

Vicki-CIC498-week2

I’ve pulled out a Pink and Main stamp set called Daisy Bugs and colored up the bundle of flowers image with Copic markers and then used the coordinating dies to cu it out with which was popped up over my design with foam tape.

I used the sentiment from the same stamp set as well and white heat embossed it over Navy cardstock and used the coordinating die to cut that out with as well which was glued over the card.

The yellow decorative papers were pulled out from my older Stampin’ Up! stash as I thought it fit with the theme and I was super happy to use some more papers up!  I’ve used a stitched circle die to cut out the white layer behind the flowers and then another fancy circle die from Gina Marie cut out with Navy to layer behind that as well.  I also die cut a border strip with a Crafter’s Companion die to place across my design and I wrapped some stitched navy ribbon (SU!) over it before attaching to the design.

I glued the bow over top of the circle image panel and then I used a navy marker to create the stitch lines around the edges to finish it off.

Vicki-CIC498-week2-close

Here’s a closer look at the flowers popped up on the design.  You can see in the centers of the flowers that I’ve added some glossy accents.

I think it really makes the flowers pop off the design!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and has brought you some inspiration!

Thanks so much for joining me here today and I’ll see you again soon!

{Cupcake Inspirations} New DT!🧁

Hello friends!  I’m so excited to announce that I’ve been asked to join the {Cupcake Inspirations} Challenge design team!!

What could be better than crafting AND cupcakes, right?!  So be sure to join me here every Monday for new challenge and reminder inspiration!  I do hope you’ll check out the challenges and join us over there to play along!  (And maybe enjoy yourself a cupcake treat while you’re at it!😁)…if you’ve followed along with me for a while, you may have remembered about 5 years back that I used to be on this team before!  So I’m excited to be joining with them once again!

So here we go with the brand new challenge and a really fun theme to play with:

The theme for this challenge is “Flowers with Pearls/Sequins

**The challenges will last for 2 weeks, so you will have that long to play for each challenge!  There is a theme challenge and then a color challenge for every other one.  There will be a reminder week in between each one as well…so be sure to subscribe and follow the blog so you can see the inspiration and play along with us!**

**We are also partnering with the Double Trouble Paper Crafting Challenge Blog with their challenge of a tic-tac-toe board!  So be sure to check out all of the up-coming details and play along with them too!**

Here’s my take on the challenge:

Vicki-CIC497

I was really inspired with the flowers and pearl theme and I’ve been wanting to play around with a past card kit I had to color with pencils, which I hardly ever do!

The flower images come from the Simon Says Stamp Stronger Together stamp set and kit.  The kit had some colored pencils with it that I used to color the image and then I just used some dies from my stash to add the layers.  I took an additional floral image from the set and white ink to stamp the background and swiped the ink pad around the edges.

To fit with the challenge theme, I thought it would be fun to add several sizes of pearls along the edges of the oval panel.

Vicki-CIC497-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring on the flowers.  I’ve also taken a sentiment from the stamp set and inked it up with some eggplant ink using my MISTI tool.  I inked it up again with some embossing ink and then added some clear sparkle EP over top of it to heat set.  The sparkle shows up so much better in person, of course!  I cut it out with my scissors and popped it up over the image with foam tape.

Vicki-CIC497-flat

Really hope that you’ve been inspired with my creation today!

I will be back next week with more inspiration for this challenge!  Thanks so much for dropping by!

Making Masculine

Hey there friends!  I know that Father’s Day is well past us, but I wanted to share some cards I made with a masculine style that don’t necessarily have to be for Father’s Day, but for birthdays, significant other, thank you, etc.

I have lots of males in my family that I need to have cards on hand for, so these will come in handy when I do need to grab one in the future for sure:

Vicki-MFTToolAround

This is one that I made which can be suited for almost anyone in my family!  The fun dies, and sentiment including the pattern paper all came from My Favorite Things.  I popped up the background over my brown card base, cut out the different tool pieces in wood paper, black paper and silver metallic paper.  (I later noticed that one of my metal peg pieces look “off” with the tool…and I’m sure my guy recipient will notice! LOL!)

I silver heat embossed the sentiment over the brown cardstock and cut out my own design with my scissors with it and then went over the edges with some silver ink.  I finished this off with some wooden dots I’ve had in my stash for a while.

Vicki-GrillMaster

My next card was for my hubby and it was made for him for Father’s Day which is has already received.  He thought the added flames on the grill were pretty cool.  LOL!

I sponged some clouds in the background of my card panel here and added some grey “smoke” clouds around the grill.  The flames were also the “negative” portion from my other card that was used to attach between the grill on this one.

I added details to the grill with a little bit of ink sponging along the edges as well as color portions of it with a glitter gel pen.  I die cut a border for the grass and added shadows with Copic markers.  I had stamped my original sentiment crooked, so I ended up white heat embossing it over the cardstock, cutting it out and placing it over my boo-boo!  I added some hearts around it as well.

Vicki-TE-plaidshirt

For my last card, I was wanting to try out the plaid stencil set that I got from Taylored Expressions and made a “shirt card” with it.  Really love that stencil BTW!  Very easy to create some fun and unique plaid designs with it!  I sponged mine over kraft cardstock.

I wasn’t sure what to do for the pocket because I don’t have any “pocket” type dies, so looking through my dies, I thought that this Labels Stacklets 10 would work for a pocket which was die cut from a plaid piece and then I folded the top portion over and just glued it along the edges so that I could actually use the pocket for something like sticking in some cash.

Lastly, I white heat embossed the sentiment from the Mini Strips-Life Saver and cut it out with the coordinating die to go over the pocket flap.  I cut an additional strip from the plaid to go along the edge and added a “collar” at the top.  Finished it off with drawing stitch lines and adding buttons.

These are all so different, but I sure had fun playing with different items in my stash and now have some masculine style cards ready to go as well!  I hope you’ve enjoyed them to or has given you some inspiration in some way!

Thanks for dropping in!  I have a post coming up with some really fun news so stay tuned in!!  I’ll be seeing you soon!
