Anything Goes at Cute Card Thursday with Holiday Wishes

Hello friends!  I hope you’re having a great week so far!  I’m trying to enjoy the warmer temps while I still am able to before it starts getting too cold out!  I wish I wasn’t feeling achy either, so hopefully that will improve too!

Today starts a new challenge for Cute Card Thursday and this week is our monthly “Anything Goes” challenge!  We’re sponsored by Whimsy Stamps and of course you know I’m using one of those images for my card today:

Vicki-WS-CCT607

How sweet is this one!  This digital stamp is by Sylvia Zet called Wintry Fairy from Whimsy Stamps.  Really love coloring up her sweet images!

For the background white layer, it’s hard to see, but I have used a snowfall embossing folder over it.  I also took a couple of the Whimsy Stamps Christmas Fun digital papers, printed them out and cut some sections for my card layout.  I layered them with some brushed gold cardstock and put them over the white embossed layer.  The piece at the bottom also has some gold ribbon wrapped around it that I added before attaching to the white layer.  These layers were mounted over a piece of red 5″ square top folding card base.

I also white heat embossed the sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Holiday Mini Sentiments clear stamp set and then cut it out with the Whimsy Stamps Quick Strips die set.  I cut it twice so that I could get the length that I wanted and then glued it over the bottom of the layered image panel.

I then added a gold ribbon bow with some gold thread nested underneath a snowflake button that I covered with a rhinestone.  I also attached some white poinsettia flowers from my stash.

Vicki-WS-CCT607-close

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve got her colored up with Copics.

I used a white gel pen for the bird’s cheeks and the berries as well as places on her coat.  You can see that I also took a gold gel pen and added details to her coat as well as her wings.  I then covered her wings and the flowers in her hair with a glitter brush pen.

For the snow t the bottom, I took a glue pen and loose clear glitter over top.

I used a square die cut to cut her out with and layered onto a piece of brushed gold cardstock and then another layer of red cardstock that was cut with a scallop square die.

Vicki-WS-CCT607-flat

I hope that you have enjoyed my card today!  It’s always great to get another Christmas card done before the rush gets going!

Please excuse me for a few days as I’m not feeling well, but hopefully will be around to visit with you soon!  Thanks so much for stopping in as I enjoy reading and smiling and sometimes giggling over your comments! 🙂   I will see you soon!

Z-Fold Gift Card Holder with Digi Doodle Studios for Coffee Lovers Blog Hop + Video Tutorial

Good morning friends!  Aaah!  It sounds like a great morning for coffee, doesn’t it?!  Well it sure does to me anyway!  Today, my post is all about coffee…so grab yourself a cup, sit back and enjoy!

I’m so excited today to share my post with you because Digi Doodle Studios is a first-time sponsor for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!  There are lots of fun coffee themed products in the store and I’m thrilled to be sharing some with you today:

Vicki-DDS-CoffeeHop-ZfoldGiftCard

Isn’t she just adorable with coffee in hand?!  This image is called “Ginger” from Digi Doodle Studios and I’ve got her all-colored up front and center of my Z-Fold Gift Card Holder.

If you have ever made a Z-Fold card, then this is something with a little bit of extra added fun with a gift card holder pocket on the inside, plus you can see how the card nicely displays on the front which is perfect for popping into an envelope to mail out to your coffee loving friend!

The papers that I’ve used for this work perfectly with the theme today which are also from Digi Doodle Studios called Coffee Break Digi Papers.  (I love that I never have to worry about running out of my favorite pattern!!)  There are also several sentiments from Digi Doodle Studios used on my project called Coffee Anyone Sentiments.

*If you want to see a video with detailed instructions on how to make one of these Z-Fold Gift Card Holders along with a sharing of the full collection of the digital papers that I’ve used on my project, check out the video below or CLICK HERE to view it on You Tube:

This is such an easy and fun project to put together especially for the up-coming Holidays, but as you can see this is very neutral so that I could easily use it for most any time of the year.

Vicki-DDS-CoffeeHop-ZfoldGiftCard-close

Here’s a closer view of “Ginger” and how I’ve colored her up with Copic markers.  Of course, if you know me, I had to add a bit of sparkle somewhere.  I took a glitter brush pen and added some sparkle to her pink bow, the heart on her coat and the lid and flower on her coffee cup.

I die cut her out with a stitched rectangle die and then layered a piece of brown cardstock die cut with a scallop rectangle die.  For the around the edges of the image panel as well as the other sentiments I printed out, I sponged some Tea Stain Distress Ink around the edges.  The sentiment were cut out with a stitched circle die and then layered with a piece of brown cardstock cut with a scallop circle die.

To keep the image panel in place, a foam dot was used at the bottom panel so that when you pull up on the flap it opens up:

Vicki-DDS-CoffeeHop-ZfoldGiftCard-open

And this is what is so fun, is that when you flip up the front panel, you see how it opens up with the fun coffee sentiments inside and the surprise gift card holder at the top!

I have an urge to go to Starbucks now! LOL!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my fun Coffee themed project today as well as the video tutorial on how to make one yourself!  I’d love to see yours if you make one!  If you have any questions about anything, please let me know!

Now to sip on some more coffee and join in on all of the coffee inspiration today!  Thanks so much for stopping in and I’ll see you again soon!

Let it Snow for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies

Hello friends!  Happy November!  The weather has come in full force with the several inches of snow that came over our area on Halloween!  I blinked and Fall was over!   I don’t ever remember it snowing this early before, but I guess it’s very fitting for my card today then! LOL!

Since today is the first of the month, we begin a new challenge over at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies and the theme is always “Anything Goes + use a CRITTER” and it can be any type of crafty project you like to make!  Hope you will join us this month and share your lovely critter creations!

We are sponsored this month by The Paper Shelter and here’s the card I made:

Vicki-2CCC32-TPS

We were provided an image set to share for the team, and this beautiful set is called “Holy Night” and it comes with both the regular digital image, plus a colored version as well as some beautiful background scenes to go with it.

For my card, I printed out the “non-colored” image and used my Copic markers to color it and then used some oval dies to cut it out.  I also stamped a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps at the bottom of the oval.

I printed out the background scene paper and sponged around the edges with some blue ink that I’ve also sponged around the oval edges as well.  I added some silver metallic ribbon around the background layers and slipped the brown oval layer behind the ribbon.  I die cut some MFT snowflakes with silver glitter paper and added them around the card design.  These background layers were then mounted over a top folding white 5″ square card base.

I popped up the oval image panel with craft foam and then added a few rhinestones in the center of the snowflake over the oval and the one in the center of the bow.

Vicki-2CCC32-TPS-close

She looked a little Vintage to me and with the wintry papers, so I wanted to color her outfit in blue tones and accent with browns. For the “spots” on the deer, I used my blender 0.

I wish you could see it better in the photo, but I’ve used a gel pen for accents around her outfit trimmings including the lines of the inside of her cloak.  I also used the gel pen for the “berries” in the holy around the deer’s neck and her hair piece.

For the snowfall, I took a glue pen to add the “dots” over the image and lined the ground with it and then sprinkled some glitter over the entire oval image.

Vicki-2CCC32-TPS-flat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my wintry card today and were inspired in some way.

Thanks so much for stopping in today and please stay tuned for another post coming up from me today!!

Oak Tree Boy Hanging Onto Fall

Hello friends!  I hope that you’ve enjoyed the weekend and having a great start to your week so far!  Right now the weather guy is saying that we could reach freezing temps on Halloween night!  About 3 weeks ago we were still in hot temps and then ran right into this cold weather!  I wish I could’ve had a couple of days to open windows and it doesn’t look like I’m going to get that!  I’m trying to hang onto the Fall Season for as long as I possibly can!

Speaking of Fall, I have this really sweet image from Whimsy Stamps to share with you today!  He’s literally hanging on a tree limb for Fall!

Vicki-WSOakTreeBoy

This adorable image is one from Syliva Zet for Whimsy Stamps called Oak Tree Boy and I have him and his little bird friend all colored up in Autumn colors!

I knew I wanted to grab the papers from the Whimsy Stamps Rustic Wood and Brick digital paper collection, so I grabbed some more plaid papers from my stash and layered it with some gold mirror cardstock that I’ve also used for the scalloped circle layer behind the image.  I attached some seam binding ribbon around these layers and added them to a 5″ square kraft card base.

I took some sparkly Prima leaves from my stash and glued them on before adding the circle image panel with some craft foam behind it.  I glued on the seam binding bow and then I took the sentiment from the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiments and white heat embossed it over a piece of grey cardstock.  I then cut it out with the Whimsy Stamps Quick Strips die set and attached it over top of the image panel.

Lastly, I added a few sequins and filled the centers with some Nuvo Glitter Drops.

Vicki-WSOakTreeBoy-close

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve colored him in!  For the “bells” on his hat and the little bird’s hat, I colored them, but then they were covered with a glue pen and some clear loose glitter.  I took my Copic colors and did little “dots” (pointillism technique) around the image.  I did this with a gold gel pen as well.

You can view the Copic markers that I’ve used on my creation below:

  • Boy’s Outfit – YG97, YG95, W5, W3, W1, E43, E40, / Shoes & buttons:  E87, E84
  • Boy’s Hair – E47, E44, E42 / Skin:  E21, E11, E02, E00, E000, R20, R00

Birthday Wishes for Digi Doodle Studios

Hello friends!  🙂   Happy Labor Day!  I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend and I hope you get a nice relaxing Labor Day Monday included with it!  I’m enjoying a nice relaxing long weekend hanging out with hubby.

I have a very sweet card to share with you today using an adorable image from Digi Doodle Studios:

Vicki-DDDS-PupParty-Sept2

Awe!  Such a cute pup, isn’t it?!  I love how sweet this one turned out with the colors which I thought would be great for a little one’s birthday.  I have used this adorable image called Jasper’s Cupcake for my card plus some really fun digital papers from the Let’s Celebrate Digital Background Paper Collection!

I based my card around the colors of those papers and I just love the little pops of blue in them, so I found some cardstock to match up with them and started to put together my card design.

I layered the “Birthday Streamers” paper over a piece of blue cardstock and then sprayed it with some “Shimmer Craft Spray” (Which I’ll be sharing in an up-coming video so stay tuned!)  Then I mounted these layers onto a pink A2 sized top folding card base.

I then took a strip of the “Birthday Chevron” paper and wrapped some white organdy ribbon around it and attached it to the front of the card base.  I added my colored image panel onto a piece of blue cardstock and then mounted this over a piece of pink cardstock that was cut out with a stitched scallop rectangle die.  Lastly I added a sentiment and punched it out with a circle punch and added a punched out scallop circle in pink behind it and popped it up with foam tape over the design.  As you can see both of the image panel and the circle sentiment was sponged around the edges very lightly with some blue ink too.  (I almost forgot that I took some white ink and sponged around the blue edges of the cardstock too!)

I then added my ribbon bow to the right side of the card and glued a pink pearl in the center of it and added on the sequins randomly over the card.  I really like how that blue frames this design and picks up the blues from the papers too.

Vicki-DDDS-PupParty-Sept2-close

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve colored it in!  I just adore that pup and it looked like he needed a few extra “spots”, so I added one on his back and then gave him a darker colored tail and a different colored paw too!

After coloring this up, I took a glitter pen and covered the pink balloon as well as the frosting on the cupcake for a bit of shimmer.  You’ve got to make that frosting look sugary right?!  I wish you can see the shimmer more in the background because it looks really cool!  You can sort of see it at the top of the photo.  However, if you check out my up-coming video, I’m hoping the camera will do it justice!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my little party pup card here today!

Oceans of Love for Digi Doodle Studios

Hello again my friends!  I’m back to share this card I made using this adorable image from Digi Doodle Studios:

Vicki-DDSNixie-Aug20

Isn’t she adorable with her little underwater crab friend?!  This is the Nixie Mermaid digital stamp from the Digi Doodles Studios “Under the Sea” collection.  I thought she was so cute and I actually had her colored up before I ended up hurting myself and had to leave.  I finished out the card when I got better.

I have also used some fun digital papers and a sentiment that work well with this particular image.  The pretty pink patterned papers you see in the background come from the Digi Doodle Studios Summer Breeze Card Making Paper collection.  The sentiment came from the Digi Doodle Studios Mermaid Sentiments set.  I printed out the sentiment and cut it out with a ticket die, sponged around the edges with the turquoise ink color and layered it over the same turquoise colored cardstock I’ve used throughout my layout.

The layout idea came from a sketch challenge that I’m entering for below this post.  I have several layer panels including the fun turquoise sparkly paper that I’ve used that was cut with a wave border die and then sponged with some white ink.  I added some pearls to each corner of the image panel, wrapped some white organdy ribbon around the card front base, tied a bow and added a silver bow where I have attached some silver string and a starfish charm to it.  The entire card measures 5.5″ square.

Vicki-DDSNixie-Aug20-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring that I’ve done on this mermaid image.  Mainly colored with Copic markers, but I’ve used a gel pen to color the sprigs next to the flower in her hair and the bracelets around her wrists.  I took a glitter brush pen and covered her entire fish body and the bubbles in the water with.  (Of course it looks so shimmery in person!)  I then took some glossy accents and covered the little crabs eyeballs with and then some liquid pearls to dab a dot over the pearl inside the oyster.  This mermaid image panel was popped up with foam tape over the card front.

Vicki-DDSNixie-Aug20-flat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my underwater mermaid card today!

Thanks so much for stopping in today!  I’ll be back tomorrow with something fun!

Wee Snippet & Mystic for Whimsy Stamps

Hello friends!  I hope you are having a wonderful week so far!  Thank you for all of your kind comments and wishes from my posts last week!  I really appreciate it so much!

Today I have a creation to share with you using a wonderful magical/mystical image from Whimsy Stamps:

Vicki-WeeSnippetMystic-June11

I have used this gorgeous image called Wee Snippet & Mystic by Crissy Armstrong.  This was previously released as a rubber stamp, but this month it has become available in digital format too!

I sort of let the colors of the card pull together after I had colored in the image and then I went from there.  I thought that this image would look nice with a woodgrain theme, so I’ve also taken some of the Whimsy Stamps Rustic Wood and Brick digi papers collection and cut a section and layered it with some purple cardstock for behind the image panel.  I had some pretty green colored woodgrain papers with flowers on it from my stash and used that for the background of the card design which was mounted over an A2 sized top folding card base.  The white woodgrain panel has some metallic purple ribbon wrapped around it that I’ve attached to the background of the card.

I’ve used a die to cut some edging accents for the sides of the image panel with the same color of cardstock as the background layer.  I popped this up over the card design with some craft foam.  I then added a stitched banner piece at the top right of the card design that hung over the image panel and then I have die cut some flowers from the Whimsy Stamps No-See All Seasons Tree Die set, sponged some ink around the edges and added them to the design.  I took some Purple Nuvo Crystal Drops and added a dot to the center of each one.  I’ve also taken a sentiment from an older Whimsy Stamps set and stamped it in black in the bottom corner of the card.

Vicki-WeeSnippetMystic-June11-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring on the image.  I’ve used the Copic markers listed below to color with and then used a few gel pens to add details.  I took a glue pen and went over the horn on the unicorn as well as along the edges of the die cut image panel and sprinkled on some clear glitter.  Before attaching the glitter along the edges of the image panel, I used an ink foam blending tool and some Wilted Violet distress ink over it.

  • Wee Snippet’s outfit/flower and Mystic’s saddle/reins/horn – V17, V15, V12, YG13, YG11, BG10, BG000 (gel pens for dotted accents)
  • Wee Snippet’s hair – Y11, Y15, Y17, E31
  • Wee Snippet’s skin/eyes – E000, E00, E11, E21, R20, R00 BG45
  • Mystic’s mane/tail – E49, E47, E44, E43
  • Mystic’s body/eyes – C3, C1, R11, R00, E25 (eyes)
  • Shadowing – C1, C0

Vicki-WeeSnippetMystic-June11-flat

I tried to incorporate everything that I thought would bring out the “magical” essence of this image from the several layers with the paper, the glitter and metallic ribbon too.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I really appreciate you stopping by!  I’ll see you again soon!

Challenges I’d like to enter:

  1.  Creative Knockouts – Anything Goes
  2. Creative Moments – Anything Goes

Thinking of Tulips With Whimsy Stamps

Hello friends!  I’m here!  In case you were seeing nothing on my blog or something weird going on within the last day, I appologize!  I was messing with something and pretty much should have left things alone!  I think we are all back now and everything is good!  Whew!  (Don’t worry, I won’t be doing that again!)  I guess I thought I was savvy with tech things, but it turns out, I’m not!  Ha!

So now that I’ve got things back to normal, I can share my card with you this evening!

Vicki-WSTulip-March19

This is one of the adorable March digital releases from Whimsy Stamps called Tulip by CC Designs.  She was so fun to color, and I was thinking about tulips the entire time I was coloring her up!  Tulips are my favorite flower and I have a brick foundation with little buds of daffodils and tulips coming up!  Of course, this makes me excited about Spring and the warm weather we are starting to get!!  (Hopefully I will be able to share photos of how they come up soon!)

Whimsy Stamps has also released some really cool digital papers that I’ve used for the background of my card here called Rustic Wood and Brick Collection.  (Reminds me of my brick foundation where the flowers are coming up!)  I have also used a retired Whimsy Stamps die set called “Garden Flowers” that happened to have a tulip in it, so I cut several in white cardstock to go along the bottom of the card.  I also took one and inked it up in the colored I’ve used on my image and tied an additional thread bow at the top of it.

The sentiment on the bottom of the image panel comes from the Whimsy Stamps Everyday Mini Sentiments clear stamp set.  I white heat embossed it and then cut out with the Whimsy Stamps Quick Strips die set.  I used a MFT stitched scallop die to cut out the image from and layered her with some red cardstock.  Before I added the blue ribbon, I attached the piece of black cardstock where my layered image panel would go and wrapped it around the brick background.  I then added a white button with a linen thread bow in the center of that.  (This is what I used on the colored tulip.)  All of these layers were then mounted onto an A2 sized top folding white card base.

Vicki-WSTulip-March19-close

Here’s a closer look at her all colored up with Copic markers!  You can purchase them at Whimsy Stamps. These are the colors I’ve used on my image today:

  • bow, jacket, skirt, tulips – B97, B95, B93, R39, R37, R35, YG25
  • shirt, socks, shoes – BG000, E87, E84, E81
  • hair, skin – E27, E25, E23, E21, E11, E00, E000, R20
  • butterflies – C5, C3, YR04, YR02, Y13
  • C1 around image and white gel pen for flowers and jacket along with red and black gel pens for dots on butterflies
  • covered the red portion of die cut tulip with Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen.

Whimsy Stamps March New Release!

Hello friends!  I don’t think I ever remember being so sick before! WOW!  I was literally stuck in the bed for a couple of days there!  I’ve been taking some meds from doctor and starting to feel a bit better now, just regular cold and not so much the fever and chills any more.  Thank you SO MUCH for the very kind get well thoughts as I truly appreciate that!  So glad that’s over with now!

Have you checked out the new release over at Whimsy Stamps yet?  There are lots of really adorable digital stamps this month and I’m excited to be sharing one of those with you today:

Vicki-WSBunny-NewRelease

I have used this sweet little image by C.C. Designs for Whimsy Stamps called Bunny.  (And that little bunny is too cute wrapped up in the garden hose!!)

I have also used some fun new digital papers for the background on my card here too!  I’ve printed out a piece from the Whimsy Stamps Rustic Wood and Brick Papers digital collection and used it on the background of my green card panel.

I also used some die cuts to add some fun elements to my design as well as wrap some ribbon at the top and add a white flower with a rhinestone in the center of it.  I heat embossed a sentiment in white EP over a piece of the green cardstock and cut it out with a stitched die cut banner.

Vicki-WSBunny-NewR2

I have it all colored up with my Copic markers and then I’ve used some metallic gel pens for the dots and for the water sprinkling from the hose.

Here you can better see how I’ve colored in the image and the details of sparkle with the gel pens.  I’ve used some craft foam behind the image panel for a bit of dimension too.

Vicki-WSBunny-NewRflat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card for today and have been inspired to go check out the rest of the new release at Whimsy Stamps!

I’ll be back again tomorrow for some more inspiration!  Thanks so much for dropping in!!  Have a great day!

Are YOU thinking Spring too?!  I am, but I don’t think it’s working very well with the snow, cold and ice we’ve been getting! LOL!  So I will stay warm inside and bring my thoughts of Spring to my craft room!

I am using this really sweet digital image from Whimsy Stamps called Think Spring Bunnies by Crissy Armstrong.  It was previously released as a rubber stamp, but now it’s available in digital format!  I have printed out this image and used the following Copic Markers for coloring:

  1.  Bunnies – W5, W3, W1, W0, E33, E31, E30, C3, C1, C0 (tails)-, E44, E42, E40, Blender 0 (spotted bunny)

  7. sky around image – B01, B00, B000, B0000

Vicki-WS-ThinkSpringBunnies-Feb7-close

Here’s a closer view of the colored image.  I have also used a white gel pen in the bunny’s tails as well as the spotted bunny’s cheeks.  I also took a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen to go over the butterfly and the flying bug’s wings.

It was so fun to color these furry bunny butts!! 🙂

Vicki-WS-ThinkSpringBunnies-Feb7-flat

I’ve used some of the digital papers released last month called Oh Boy…really loving the ginghams in this set!  So, I’ve cut out both these papers along with some solid yellow papers (from same set) and the colored bunny strip with the Whimsy Stamps Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles dies.  I also took a strip of gray colored cardstock and used an older border die from Whimsy Stamps to create the scalloped edge.

These were all layered onto a white A2 sized top folding card base.  I wrapped some twine along the edge and tied it in a bow and then lastly, I’ve added some yellow crystals from Pretty Pink Posh randomly over the card.
