Berry Fun🍇

Hello friends!  I’m still sharing some projects that I had been working on from the previous month and hadn’t posted until now.  I’m also having fun creating “behind the scenes”, which is nice to just be able to “relax” and not rush on creating projects just for posting!  I’m keeping that in mind when I tell myself that I’m “behind”!😁

I think just having some fun is the key!

So earlier, I was “challenged” to use some of the pre-printed “Card Panels“.  These are card panels that are also foilable prints or you can color them, ink blend over them, etc.  So I decided to have some fun and play with a past card kit from my stash:

Vicki-BRMberrycardpanels

The Berry Thankful Card Panels were used for both of my cards.  I used some colored pencils and a water brush to color in both panels.  But because they’re not a water friendly type of cardstock, you need to be aware of possibly too much moisture in the paper.  So I kept a very light hand with it and just did some basic coloring on them.  Then after I got them colored up, I used my laminator and foiled over them with some Silver Deco Foil sheets.  For the sentiments on the cards, I took out the Berry Thankful stamp set also included in the same card kit, and heat embossed them over the grey cardstock included in the kit with some Foil Reactive EP and ran it through the laminator again with the same color foil I used on the card panels.

After running through the laminator, I used some dies to cut them out with and then I ran some glue along the edges and dipped them in some chunky flaky glitter that was also included with the card kit and popped them up over the card panels (with foam tape) that were placed onto some cardstock in the kit and layered over an A2 sized folded card base.  Before I attached the card panels, I wrapped some twine around them and tied with a bow.

Lastly I added a thin strip of decorative paper and also added some sequins from the kit. I filled them with silver glitter in the centers.

Normally, I would’ve posted a photo of each design, but really wasn’t sure that I would be posting about these on my blog.  So I hope you enjoy the “berry” shinny cards!!😂

Thanks so much for dropping by today and I wish you a very fun and happy upcoming Memorial Day weekend!!  (Wow!  Where did the month of May go?!!)

Hot Dog! It’s Birthday Time!

Hello friends!  As you know, I’ve been TRYING to get my MOJO flowing and I REALLY appreciate the feedback that I’ve gotten from you and others about things I can try including non-craft related things!  (Honestly, right now in this world with what is going on, it is hard to concentrate along with worrying about my own family in different ways…so that doesn’t help either!)  But I’ve been trying to find things to keep my mind focused and try new things that are interesting to me…so I will just keep going along and see what happens!!  I would like to continue with as many “stamped smiles” as I possibly can right now….we all need that at this time!  🙂

Today’s card was made for my son’s birthday that was this past Saturday.  I wanted to make sure he recieved it before I posted it:

Vicki-SSSSoPunFriends

I pulled out an older Simon Says Stamp card kit and used the So Pun Friends and the I Chews You stamp sets along with the coordinating dies.  I’ve used the cardstock and cute Doodlebug So Much Pun Papers that came with the card kit as well.  The tag was cut using the My Favorite Things Stitched Tag dies.  I created the hole at the top of the tag with circle punches and the twine is from left over packaging.

I cut the tag shape out again with more of the papers from the kit and then popped up the image tag with foam tape and added some white enamel dots.

On the inside I stamped a birthday greeting and made a pocket to hold a gift card for him.  We usually take him out to dinner for his birthday, but since he’s moved away I had to send him a gift card instead.  Bummer…

Vicki-SSSSoPunFriends-close

Here’s a closer look at the cute smile face images that I colored up with my Copic markers.  I cut out the food images with the So Pun Friends coordinating dies.  For the sentiment, I stamped the speech bubble from the I Chews You stamp set over a piece of the Doodlebug papers and then added the sentiment from the So Pun Friends stamp set in the center of the speech bubble.  I then die cut it out with the I Chews You coordinating dies.

I used some blue distress ink to blend some color over the center of the white area on the tag and then popped up the speech bubble with some foam tape over that area.  The hotdog at the bottom was also popped up with foam tape as well.

Vicki-SSSSoPunFriends-flat

I actually had some fun pulling out this older card kit to play with and who could resist a hotdog smiling at you?!  LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping in and for your continued support!  It’s very much appreciated and I hope that I helped bring a smile or inspiration to you today!

I actually have a couple more birthdays coming up that I need to make cards for, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of those in the near future too!

Dies & Punches for Cute Card Thursday

Hello friends!  It’s time for a new Cute Card Thursday challenge!  This week we’d like to see those “Dies &/or Punches” on your creations this week!  These are some of my favorite tools to use in my craft room and we’re looking forward to seeing your take on this challenge!

Here’s what I’ve made for it:

Vicki-CCT600

Nothing says “Fall” to me like those ripe apples ready to be picked and especially to make a yummy carmel apple with as well!  I had so much fun pulling out several of my Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to make this interactive card design!  I haven’t played with my Lawn Fawn stuff for quite a while, so it was time! 🙂

For the interactive pull tab mechanism, I’ve used the Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider dies along with the Caramel Apple , Thanks a Bushel and Jump for Joy stamp sets to put together this card.  I’ve also used the Jump for Joy and Thanks a Bushel dies to cut out some of the images on my card.  For the pull tab at the top, I took a sentiment from the Push Here stamp set to stamp the “pull here”.

For part of the layers in the card, I took an older Scallop rectangle die no longer available from Lawn Fawn for the white layer.  I’ve also used some Woodgrain cardstock that I’ve sponged with Vintage Photo Distress ink along the edges of it and the plaid paper which is no longer available from LF.  For the layer behind the apple panel and the base of the card I’ve used the LF Sunflower cardstock.

Vicki-CCT600-close

Here’s a closer look at the image that I’ve got colored up with Copic markers.  I just stamped them over some Copic blending card.  For the inside slider where the caramel apple is, I didn’t want to add any layers to it so that it would slide freely.

Vicki-CCT600-upright

Here’s what the card looks like with the slider hidden inside.  I just added some twine to the end of the pull tab at the top.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my interative card design today using lots of fun dies!  Be sure to stop by the Cute Card Thursday blog and check out the inspiration from the rest of the design team and play along with us this week!

Thanks so much for dropping in today and I’ll be seeing you soon!!

Birthday Wishes for Digi Doodle Studios

Hello friends!  🙂   Happy Labor Day!  I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend and I hope you get a nice relaxing Labor Day Monday included with it!  I’m enjoying a nice relaxing long weekend hanging out with hubby.

I have a very sweet card to share with you today using an adorable image from Digi Doodle Studios:

Vicki-DDDS-PupParty-Sept2

Awe!  Such a cute pup, isn’t it?!  I love how sweet this one turned out with the colors which I thought would be great for a little one’s birthday.  I have used this adorable image called Jasper’s Cupcake for my card plus some really fun digital papers from the Let’s Celebrate Digital Background Paper Collection!

I based my card around the colors of those papers and I just love the little pops of blue in them, so I found some cardstock to match up with them and started to put together my card design.

I layered the “Birthday Streamers” paper (from the digi paper collection above) over a piece of blue cardstock and then sprayed it with some “Shimmer Craft Spray” (Which I’ll be sharing in an up-coming video so stay tuned!)  Then I mounted these layers onto a pink A2 sized top folding card base.

I then took a strip of the “Birthday Chevron” paper (also from the same digi paper collection above) and wrapped some white organdy ribbon around it and attached it to the front of the card base.  I added my colored image panel onto a piece of blue cardstock and then mounted this over a piece of pink cardstock that was cut out with a stitched scallop rectangle die.  Lastly I added a sentiment and punched it out with a circle punch and added a punched out scallop circle in pink behind it and popped it up with foam tape over the design.  As you can see both of the image panel and the circle sentiment was sponged around the edges very lightly with some blue ink too.  (I almost forgot that I took some white ink and sponged around the blue edges of the cardstock too!)

I then added my ribbon bow to the right side of the card and glued a pink pearl in the center of it and added on the sequins randomly over the card.  I really like how that blue frames this design and picks up the blues from the papers too.

Vicki-DDDS-PupParty-Sept2-close

Here’s a closer view of the image and how I’ve colored it in!  I just adore that pup and it looked like he needed a few extra “spots”, so I added one on his back and then gave him a darker colored tail and a different colored paw too!

After coloring this up, I took a glitter pen and covered the pink balloon as well as the frosting on the cupcake for a bit of shimmer.  You’ve got to make that frosting look sugary right?!  I wish you can see the shimmer more in the background because it looks really cool!  You can sort of see it at the top of the photo.  However, if you check out my up-coming video, I’m hoping the camera will do it justice!

Vicki-DDDS-PupParty-Sept2-flat

I hope you’ve enjoyed my little party pup card here today and please be sure to check out all of the adorable images from Digi Doodle Studios too!  They’ve just launched another new challenge yesterday over on their challenge blog.  Plus you can join the Facebook Group for more challenges and inspiraton too!

Thanks for checking out my post today!  I appreciate ALL of your kind thoughts!  I’ll see you again soon!

I’m back! It’s Been a Rough Patch!

Hello friends! 🙂  Are you still with me out there?  (This is a bit of a long post to catch you up with what’s happened.)

Wow!  It sure has been a while since I’ve been able to even TRY to get back into things.  This was a really abrupt and rude unplanned disappearance from me and I was getting worried for a while about how I would even begin to start up again!  I actually feel pretty “rusty” and unpracticed from my absence and I have a few things to share with you too!

Firstly, I want to thank you ALL from the very bottom of my heart for your wonderful comments, personal e-mail, cards and social media contact that I’ve heard from many of you.  There were days that I just went to tears hearing from my fellow crafty friends as it came on a few days that I REALLY needed it the most!  I thank you SO MUCH for that and it really helped to get me though some difficult pain days.

So what happened was a worsening of something that I believed to be a minor back issue that I thought would resolve on it’s own, but the issue grew worse and more painful to the point that I couldn’t sit, stand, walk or even getting out of bed was painful enough that I had a procedure to try and control the nerve pain.  With this done, along with physical therapy and adjustments to my life style, I am feeling better now.  It’s not COMPLETELY pain free, but it’s tolerable enough to do normal tasks for a period of time until I need to move around again.  It’s just a life style adjustment that I can live with and hopefully fit in with what I love to do which is crafting!  It really bothered me to just “walk away”, but sometimes when your health is in trouble, you just have to do what you have to do and heal.  I have just learned that SEVERAL small breaks a day are better than none at all and I will pay for it later if I don’t!  🙂  Thanks for sticking it out with me!

———————————————————————-

And so with that, I would like to share a couple of things that actually took way longer to complete than what I would normally take the time to complete and it was actually the very last little bit that I had accomplished before I had to completely step out of my room for a while.  My husband wouldn’t let me go back in there until he was sure that I could tolerate my pain ok.  Still working through the exercises until my follow up Dr. appointment, but I think I’ll be fine from here…I sure hope so as I’m ready to ROCK N ROLL!!!  LOL

I had made a couple of Father’s Day cards that I hand delivered:

Vicki-Brutus Monroe-Rock ON

This one I made for my brother.  He has always loved his rock-n-roll and we share similar tastes with each other, so I thought this was really appropriate for him.

Although I don’t have a black  light, my brother does and I told him to hold up the card to a black light and the watercolor background that I made will glow!  It’s a pretty cool affect!

I took one of the foilable image panels from the kit and took several of the Neon Aqua Pigments and smooshed them over the background until I was happy.  I tried to foil over it, but it didn’t completely get all of it.  I added the strip of holographic paper at the bottom and the stamped elements along with the stars over it.  For the sentiment, I heat embossed it with the  EP that came in the kit and popped it up with foam tape.  My bro seemed to like it and I think those neon watercolors turned out pretty cool! 🙂

Vicki-NN-FathersDay

And this is the card that I made for my dear ole dad!  This is probably one of my all time faves from Newton’s Nook called Winston’s BBQ.  I think they have had this set for a while, but It’s a great one for masculine themed designs!

I’ve used a kraft cardstock background and stamped several of the images from the set all over the background with the same color of ink.  For the main panel, I stamped Winston, the grill and sentiment together and colored with my Copic markers.  I also sponged some blue ink around the edges of it for a “sky” looking appearance.

I’ve taken a strip of silver foil cardstock and ran an embossing folder through it to place across the center of the card.  I used some foam tape to pop up the image panel over top.  All of these layers were placed over an A2 sized white top folding card base.

I was happy to give dad a smile that day!  He likes to cook on the grill.

Of course, last but not least, I wanted to share a card I had completed for a guest design card meant for June and that was completed at the end of May, but I was unable to share it before I had to leave for a while.  This is the card I gave to my husband for Father’s Day and he really does feel like my super hero! 🙂

Vicki-PNDSuperBoyDog-June15

Isn’t this just the cutest?!  I made this card using the adorable Paper Nest Dolls Superboy Owen and his sweet companion Superpuppy too!  I had so much fun blending the background in the different colors!  I added some blue stars stamped in the background.  the city scape behind him was made with a city scape die cut layered a couple of times.  I used some yellow cardstock behind the building for a lighted building affect.  The wall was made using some gray colored cardstock and then a brick stencil with some red ink colored embossing paste to over it with.  Then I just added the sentiment by white heat embossing it over a black strip that I die cut out.

Vicki-PNDSuperBoyDog-June15-close

Here’s a closer view of the coloring I’ve done on the images.  I’ve used a silver gel pen to color in the buckle on his outfit.  I fussy cut the images out after coloring.

Here you can also see the splattering that I’ve done with some white shimmer paint in the background with the blue stars.

If you haven’t yet, PLEASE hop on over and check out the Paper Nest Dolls store, (Digital storeblog and join in the group over on Facebook for inspiration too!  Can’t wait to share more with you soon!!  Their badge and store link are also available on the left side of this blog as well!

I actually got a bit of really cool news while I was down and thanks to a lovely craft friend, she tagged me and let me know about this, but my set of Whimsy Stamps “Bee cards” were shown in the Making Cards & Papercraft Magazine for August 2019!  Chosen as a “top spot” editor’s pick right inside the front cover!  I was very surprised and to see what was said about it along with my blog address was pretty cool!  So go get your copy of this magazine!  It’s my first time having a peek at it and they’ve got some pretty neat inspiration in there!

Although I have been in a great deal of pain and mainly dealing with what came with it, of course my husband was great at trying to “distract” me from it and trying to get me to smile as much as possible.  He knew first hand how I was feeling each day and like I mentioned above, he’s my super hero!  So there were a few fun or smiling moments here and there while I was being patient with myself as much as I could anyway.

Vicki-backyard fireworks

I wasn’t able to do much to celebrate 4th of July, but going out in my backyard, my neighborhood seemed to have a pretty cool display!  You can see the half moon at the bottom underneath the left side of the firework.  Needed bug spray, but it was a nice night!

Vicki-Styx Concert

Back in April, hubby and I had gotten some Styx concert tickets and I was worried about going due to the problems I was having.  Of course hubby said not to worry about it as our seats were great with no one behind us so I could sit, stand or whatever I needed to do!  It was loud enough with the music and it took my mind off things plus I could always clap and sing the songs!  🙂  We took a good break in the middle of it so I could move around away from the seat too.  It was a great concert!

Vicki-Black Eyed Susans

In my backyard, I have different flowers and I really enjoy going out in nature to see the flowers, birds, bees, etc.  The flowers this Summer really helped me relax, smile and just enjoy the beauty that is around.

Some days were absolutely horrible, but there are also these days too…

Food and Drink at Cute Card Thursday!

Hello friends!  It’s time for a new Cute Card Thursday challenge!  This one may have a tendancy to make you a little hungry as we are asking for your “Food and/or Drink” creations to add to the challenge gallery this week!  We really look forward to seeing what you come up with for it!

Here’s my take on the challenge:

Vicki-CCT552-NachoBday

LOL!  I can’t help but giggle at these silly puns and especially with the smiling faces on the food images too! 🙂  I just had to grab the Simon Says Stamp “I Chews You” card kit and I couldn’t wait to have a play with it!  (I think there are still some available if you’re interested in it!)  Everything that I’ve used on my card including the paper all come from this card kit.

There were some pre-scored card bases, so I used one of those for my card base, then I took a strip of the colored stripes paper and a thin strip of the gold glitter paper included in the kit and glued it on at the bottom with the glue included in the kit.

I then stamped the images and colored them with my Copic markers.  I put the “salsa bowl” at the bottom so it looks like it’s setting on top of the colored stripes.  I added the speech bubble with the punny sentiment inside of it too.  I then added the sequins from the kit and then filled the centers with some Nuvo Crystal Drops for the centers.

Vicki-CCT552-NachoBday1

Here you can see a closer look at the coloring of the images.  I’ve also added some shimmer with a Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter Brush Pen over the “salsa” images.  I know that it shows it as “guacamole”, but I’m more of a “salsa” person myself and decided to go for that instead.  Hubby is not a guac fan either, but we love to eat Mexican food! 🙂

So I hope that you will get out your “food and/or drink” craft supplies and join us for the challenge this week!  Be sure to check out the inspiration from the design team over on the blog!!  Thanks for joining me today!….What’s on your menu?!

Anything Goes at Cute Card Thursday with a Shaped Apple Card

Hello friends!  It’s time for another weekly Cute Card Thursday Challenge!   For this week, since it’s the beginning of the month, we will have our easy peasy “Anything Goes” challenge for you this week!  We are sponsored by Whimsy Stamps!

Vicki-PenguinAppleBushel-Sept6-CCT546-ATG

I couldn’t resist using this cute little fellow on my card for today!  This is the Penguin Apple Bushel digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps.  I’ve colored him with Copics and pencils and then fussy cut him out and attached him on the front of my apple shaped card with foam tape.  Hard to see in the photo, but I’ve added just a wee bit of shimmer with my glitter brush pen on the bitten inside apple he’s holding.  I’ve also added some white dots for his eyes with a gel pen.

Vicki-CCT546-ATG1

For the shape of my apple card, I found a fun apple card pattern and cut it out with my Cricut Explore machine and enlarged it the size that I wanted it to be.  I’ve taken some sponges and ink to add some shading and highlighting details to the apple.  I’ve taken that CUTE stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Thanks a Bushel to stamp a couple of hearts around the penguin as well as white heat emboss the sentiment on the front.

I’ve also added a black gingham ribbon along with some twine that I’ve attached an apple charm to before attaching it to the top of the apple.

Vicki-CCT546-ATG

So of course I wanted to show you what the inside of the shaped card looked like too!  I thought that the inside needed to “look like” the inside of an apple, so I took the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Apple die and cut a piece to fit the inside of the apple and then followed the “bite marks” to cut off the end and then I took a sponge to sponge around the areas of it with brown colored ink for shadows.  I’ve also taken the same die set to add a tiny green apple on the opposite side of the inside of the card.  The purpose for that was not just to add an extra decorative element, but I also wanted to cover up the back side of the penguin sticking out from the front of the card.  I then needed to add the “apple seeds” to the inside of the apple, so I took the Lawn Fawn Stitched Apple Frames to cut out the seeds die in black cardstock and glued them to the vanilla die cut apple panel. I’ve also added some shimmer to the seeds with my glitter brush pen.

I thought that there was still plenty of room for a message below the seeds or you could also write on the opposite side as well.  It’s just a fun and unique card design to go with that darling penguin!  I will need to make a special envelope to fit the card inside for giving.

Thanks so much for joining me on my blog today!  I hope you will stop by the Cute Card Thursday challenge blog to see what the rest of the design team has come up with for inspiration and I hope you will share YOUR creation in the gallery over there!  We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Have a fantastic day!

Lawn Fawn Friday

Hello friends!  Yay, it’s Friday!  I have lots of fun Lawn Fawn “goodies” to share with you today and although it’s still a bit warm over my way, I am in the mood for Fall, how about you?  There’s nothing better in the Fall, for me, than a warm apple cider donut that we get every year from an apple orchid we like to visit each Fall!  It had me thinking of the current challenge going on…

Vicki-LF-FallTreats

It may be a bit of an oldie, but a goodie to me and I really enjoy using it!  I have pulled out my LF Love You a Latte stamp set to base my card for today.

I started with a white A2 sized top folding card base and added a piece of (now retired) “Perfectly Plaid Fall” mini paper stack that I’ve cut with the LF Stitched Rectangle die along with the pieces used on my image panel also cut with the same die set.  I layered that onto a white piece of cardstock that was cut from the LF “Scalloped Rectangle die” (Looks to be retired too!)  I have taken a strip of the plaid papers and used the LF Valentine Borders die to cut the edging on it.  I then wrapped some twine around it and added the LF Stitched Leaves that were cut from kraft cardstock and colored on the edges with distress ink and a foam blending tool.  I then tied a bow with the twine and placed it over the leaves.

I colored my images, fussy cut them out and placed them over my layered paper panels and then popped it up over the plaid card base with some craft foam.

Vicki-LF-FallTreats1

Upon a closer view of the image, you can see that I white heat embossed the sentiment from the stamp set.  I also added some glitter to the marshmallows in the cup and covered the donut with some glossy accents.  I added a LF Small Stitched Leaves that I made similar to the others to tuck inside with my treats! 🙂  All the leaves were covered with a glitter brush pen.

*Be sure to scroll down below for more Lawn Fawn goodies!!*

Here are the challenges I’d like to enter this card for:

  1.  Lawn Fawnatics – Coffee, Tea and TreatsLawnFawnatics_coffee-treats-35-e1534623355266
  2. Retro Rubber (RRCB94) – Anything Goes + Older Stamp(s) Mine is circa 20156a01b8d066dc39970c022ad3ac3821200b-320wi
  3. Watercooler Wednesday (WWC185) – Anything GoesWWC185 - Anything Goes Challenge
  4. Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Anything Goes

I thought this was a good place to stick in this project I made and had entered into my local county fair last month.  This particular item did not place, but the category was “Hand Stamped Item Other Than a Card”…so I created this using a Lawn Fawn stamp:

Vicki-LFSkunk-Wood Slice

I found a bag of these really cute wood slices when I was out shopping with my mom earlier this Summer at Hobby Lobby.  They seemed like a perfect size to do this with!

I stamped this adorable skunk from the Lawn Fawn Stinkin’ Cute stamp set and then colored him in with my Prismacolor pencils.  Of course the woodgrain give it some slight imperfections, but I didn’t mind and thought it gave it more character!  (See the wood knot under his chin!)  I’ve added some green “Flower Soft” for the grass portion to give him something to stand on.  I also added some glitter to the hearts above his head.  Hubby drilled a hole in it for me so that I could add some twine for it to hang.

Vicki-LFSkunk-WoodSlice1

Here I’ve turned it at a bit of an angle so that you can see the thickness of the slice and the fun texture of the bark on it.  I thought this would be so cute on a gift bag or something.  I have it hanging in my room because he’s just too stinkin’ cute anyway! 🙂

Speaking of Lawn Fawn “goodies”….it’s been a while since I’ve had my “fix” of shopping for some cute Lawn Fawn stuff and I saw where if you placed an order of $60 or more, they are giving out an adorable enamel deer pin with your order!  (I think TODAY is the last day to get one if you want to get in on the deal too!)  So I ‘had’ to shop….

Vicki-LawnFawnGoodies

I basically just threw it all in the pile to photograph here, but there are some REALLY fun goodies to play with in here and I can’t wait to get to it!  Yay!  And a head’s up for my blog readers…don’t forget that next month I will have a fun give away in honor of my birthday month!  Be sure you don’t miss it!

Thanks for stopping in today and I wish you all a fabulous weekend!

P.S.  Sunday I will be sharing a post with a brand new release…so be sure to check that out too!  Bye!
