Hello friends! I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend!
After starting this year, I tend to “look back” on my stash items and take a good “inventory” of what I have and the things that hardly EVER get used, if have gotten used at all! And of course I try to tell myself…”no more!” LOL! I honestly just let all of my card kits just sit and don’t dive into them and use them! I get so excited about them when they come out, oooh and aaahhh over every single item in the kit and then it just sits…then before you know it, another kit comes out! It’s an endless cycle that I’d like to stop! Does anybody else have this problem?!
**This year, I hope to not only just open the boxes with content, but also make some creations with them! If I’m already suscribed and getting boxes, then why am I not using them?! You saw in a previous post the Snowflake set of creations, so I plan on doing more of that this year…so stay tuned! 🙂
I actually have made a card from a fun special edition “Sweet Birthday” card kit from Simon Says Stamp last year that I was super excited about, but only dug in enough of it to make this one card: (Hanging head…..)
At least I made ONE with it, right?! LOL! I just thought this was such a happy, colorful and fun card kit that it was just perfect to send a birthday smile for someone that really needed some “happy” sent their way. My schedule was crazy and then I forgot to get it posted! LOL!
The stamp set used in creating this one from the SSS card kit was called Sweet Birthday and I was excited to be able to get the coordinating dies to go with it too. It’s very simple with the cardstock and pattern papers from the kit for the layout design. I used an additional piece of black cardstock to white heat emboss the sentiment from the stamp set, cut it out with my scissors and pop it up along with the party hat cloud and balloons with the black “strings” underneath them.
I used a white gel pen to add “dots” to the blue balloon and then added some sequins from the card kit over the design.
Here’s a closer look at the images and how I’ve colored them up with my Copic markers.
At this point I don’t remember if I’ve added a glitter brush pen over anything, but more than likely I probably did because I like using it! LOL!
I’ve also used a sanding block around the edges of the pattern paper as I like to distress my papers sometimes too.
I didn’t know who this person was that received this card, but a request came from a crafty friend who asked to send smiles to someone for a loved one’s birthday and of course I was happy to get creating and hope that this helped in some way to lift spirits.
And I hope that this has helped put a smile on your face too!
Thanks so much for popping over here today and I truly enjoy seeing your comments! Please let me know what you think of YOUR stash? Is it “out of control” like mine? LOL! Would you like to see me making posts using more of my card kits? Share your thoughts below! 🙂
I’ll see you again soon my friends!

Ha! I suppose we each have one “item-thingy” in our stash that we tend to purchase, only to have it collect a bit of dust before it is actually used. I have only purchased 2 kits in my whole life! How has that happened? Probably, mostly, it is because I realize I cannot possibly get all the cards made with so much already on my plate? I wonder if I might consider making my own “kits” from my stash, put it all in a box, and then sit and use those items in several cards. That way, my stash would be used creatively?? But this little balloons-in-the-clouds-with-smiling-stars card is wonderful, and the sweetness factor is off the charts, of course! Who would not love wearing a party hat in such company? I’ll look forward to seeing more of your stash items used. In the meantime, I was coloring a house mouse image the other day for some badly needed get well cards, and decided to color the mousie and chipmonk BLUE – I’m sure they drank too much colloidal silver, or perhaps they are actually preparing for a trip to Pandora, where the blue people live from the movie Avatar? At any rate, I think something is broken with my mojo LOL because I’m having a tough time being normalish in my creative moments the past 3 weeks. Wishing you a great week, Miss Vicki! xx

Super cute and fun card Vicki. Loving those puffy clouds. This was a really cute kit too.
I finally just quit buying the kits because they’d stack up and I’d end up using them maybe once and that was it – if that.

Very sweet card Vicki, those puffy clouds are so cute and I love the bright happy colours..I only buy one kit and I do not get it every month, I pick and choose which to buy and even then I use bits and pieces of it, through the excitement of getting it, then it goes on the kit shelf and sits looking pretty..

Lovely and happy card, Vicki. I don’t buy kits anymore, but I do buy too much. At the moment I’m in love with Dylusions products. I buy and buy and hardly create. Just want to buy more of it. Crazy or not?

This is sooo cute and colorful Vicki!! I love that smiling cloud with the party hat, such a fun card! I quit buying the card kits because they were starting to stack up too! They ALL look so fun and are a fantastic deal but it’s hard to keep up with the monthly boxes. Good for you to dive into your kits this year… I do like the fact that you can make several cards at a time!

Oh my goodness this is so me!! I have ordered kits and then they just sit there as well. Then I see another “offer” and remind myself “don’t do it, you don’t have time” even though I want it so badly. So I currently have no more kits coming my way. And my hope too is to actually dig into the kits I have AND mail out more cards this year. Last year was one wreck after another, but I have high hopes for this new year!!
I think this is just adorable as can be. I can see this putting a smile on anyone’s face for sure. Wonderful layers with the clouds and the balloons. And I must remember to do the white embossing on black!! I just love that look.

What a super cute and adorable card you’ve made and I’m glad you used something from your kit! Honestly, I know how addicted I am to crafting supplies, so I’ve never ordered any kits at all – I knew it would be a process to worsen my addiction, so in spite of how awesome those kits are, I just limit myself to buying things I really like. I wish you luck in using your kits up, because they really do contain lots of beautiful items 🙂

This is just too cute! You should make a dozen using this image, it would be so good to donate to the cards for hospitalized kids, or similar card drives.
That being said, I have been organizing a bit this year and trying to make sure I use more of my stash. I did just make a purchase with my christmas money, but I am going to try to use more of my stuff before making any more purchases.

Vickie, if you’re having that much trouble using the kits, you could just forward them on to me! lol I love that the balloons are up in the clouds. What a great idea. Beautiful soft colors combined with the bright stripes in the dp! I also love Donna’s idea of making kits from my own stash and I probably will try that, at least with color coordinated papers and embellies which I can use with my favorite images. I think it would be fun to challenge myself to use them that way and see what happens. 😀

Lol…I’m pretty sure we all have that problem! I don’t buy kits for that reason. I guess someday I should drop all dt’s and create just because, and see how that works out…Nah. Your card is darling, and whoever received it is thrilled! Thanks for sharing!

I belong to only 1 monthly kit and probably make one out of 4-5 so it really isn’t a good deal if you don’t make them!!! This one is adorable – and I love how you use your white gel pen, I always think of it after I have sent the card. Someone is going to smile when they get this card.
